New applications of computational geometry and graph theory to cellular mobile communications
Tamura, Hiroshi,Sengoku, Masakazu,Shinoda, Shoji 대한전자공학회 1996 APCCAS:Asia Pacific Conference on Circuits And Sys Vol.1 No.1
The demand for mobile communication services is rapidly increasing, because the mobile communication service is synonymy of an ideal communication style realizing communication in anytime, anywhere and with anyone. There exist various problems to which computational geometry and graph & network theory is applicable in mobile communication services. For example, it is well-known that Coloring algorithms of graphs are applicable in channel assignment algorithms in cellular systems. In this paper, we show some examples of new applications of computational geometry and graph theory to cellular mobile communications.

In cellular mobile communication system, a service area is divided into a number of calls far efficient use of channels. It is necessary to consider the intercell vehicle movement for analyzing traffic performance of such cellular mobile communication system. This paper presents a theoretical performance evaluation of a band-shaped service area when the traffic offered to a specific cell is bigger than other cells. Furthermore, the characteristics of mobile communication traffic are analyzed when the length of the cell is afferent from other cells. Thorough the comparison of theoretical results and simulation results, the validly of theoretical results has been show.
Edge Coloring Problem of Graph Theory Considering Interference on Network Coding
Hiroshi Tamura,Masakazu Sengoku,Shoji Shinoda 대한전자공학회 2008 ITC-CSCC :International Technical Conference on Ci Vol.2008 No.7
Multihop wireless networks consist of mobile terminals with personal communication devices. Each terminal can receive a message from a terminal and send it to the other terminal. If a terminal can not communicate the other terminal that sends data directly, some terminals relay the data. Network coding is a new architecture for wireless network and various applications using this architecture are expected. In this paper, we expand the previous coloring problem and propose a new coloring problem including the architecture.

The creation of academic start-up firms is an important and practical issue in the management of technology in Japan. The present study designs a model for creating academic start-up firms that fits into the social context. It focuses on the case of FIRST Program, an initiative that consists of 30 projects in innovative arenas, analyses the presence of large-scale public funding, and investigates the role of venture capitalists as support personnel in each project. As a result, the presence and significance of 'long-term escort' by an 'entrepreneurial venture capitalist (EP-VCist)' were confirmed as common features across the cases observed. EP-VCist refers to a person who can maintain and fulfil dual roles at a university and a venture capital firm, and who can take the lead throughout the venturing process as a risk taker. 'Long-term escort' is a form of support that reduces risks in the venturing process by supporting university researchers in the pre-entrepreneurial stage and by exerting a robust bridging role between a university and an industry.
