This study will examine educational satisfaction on Estheticians who completed hygiene education, conduct survey on demands for educational programs which are required, and provide basic data for effective operation and qualitative improvement of skin beauty care hygiene education. Based on the above results, technique education by applying the recent trend in occupational intelligence should be performed as a way for improving satisfaction of hygiene education for learners. In particular, education should be prepared to increase the association with practical job in the general education.

A ten months old, female Yorkshire terrier weighing 2.88 kg referred to veterinary teaching hospital of college of veterinary medicine, Konkuk University because of syncope, cough and dyspnea. First hematological and serum chemical test revealed thrombocytopenia, mild anemia, and increase of concentration of ALP (195 U/L). On 57 days later, second hematological and serum chemical test revealed polycythemia, increase of concentration of ALP (211 U/L), and Tchol (387 mg/dl). Right atrium enlargement, main pulmonary artery bulge and cardiomegaly (VHS = 11.5) were observed in radiographic findings. Ultrasonographic images showed both right and left ventricular dilation and turbulent flow between the descending aorta and the main pulmonary artery in color Doppler imaging. ECG showed left ventricular enlargement, SA block, and electrical alternant. Thoracotomy was performed through left fourth intercostal incision under isoflurane anesthesia. Patent ductus arteriosus was double ligated with 1-0 silk. Cough and dyspnea disappeared on 5 days after operation. Turbulent flow was not found in color doppler imaging of ultrasonography on 10 days after operation. Ten months later after the operation, syncope could not exist any more.

Background : Gastric cancer is the most common malignant tumor in Korea. surgical operation is one of the major treatment modalities for gastric cancer patients. Therefore, gastrectomy is one of the most common procedures in General Surgery. There were variation in length of hospital stay and medical treatment for gastrectomy between three surgeons at Asan Medical Center. Clinical pathways have received considerable attention as a tool for recucing the medical practice variation, increasing the efficiency of care process, and improving the quality of care. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of a clinical pathway for gastrectomy in gastric cancer patients. Methods : The clinical pathway for gastrectomy was developed and implemented by a multidisciplinary group in Asan Medical Center. A computerized clinical pathway program was developed and revised after a pilot test. A total of 145 patients underwent gastrectomy by three surgeons at Asan Medical Center. We compared the length of hospital stay, patient satisfaction, and unplanned readmission rate between the pre-pathway group(n=67) and the post-pathway group(n=78). We also investigated the degree of satisfaction among the physicians and nurses who were main end-users of the clinical pathway. Results : The clinical pathway was applied to all target patients. The average length of hospital stay was shortened from 12.7days to 10.6days(p<0.01). The degree of patient satisfaction with the care process changed from 90.3% to 89.2% after the implementation of the clinical pathway, but the difference was of satistically significant(p=0.761). Unplanned readmission rate was 2.9% in the pre-pathway group. More than 90% of physicians and nurses answered that the clinical pathway had been a useful tool in their medical practice. Conclusions : The findings of the study demonstrated that implementation of the clinical pathway for gastrectomy produced substantial reduction in the length of hospital stay while improving the quality of patient outcomes. The computerized clinical pathway program can be used as one of the powerful patient management tools for reducing the practice variations and increasing the efficiency of care process in Korea hospital settings.

Body temperature is controlled by thermoregulatory center of the hypothalamus. We report a case of 24 years old man with central fever. He was subjected to a partial excision of pituitary tumor compressing optic chiasm four years ago. He has received hormonal therapy for panhypothyroidism after removal of pituitary tumor. And He received gamma knife operation for partially contrast-enhancing masses in suprasellar and both hypothalamic areas that is probably postoperatively remnant or recurrent tumor of pituitary adenoma. One year after gamma knife operation, he presented with a febrile syndrome of unknown origin including rhabdomyolysis. All usual investigations proved negative. We diagnosed him as central fever with rhabdomyolysis. He received medical ICU care with cooling bed, ice pack. And his symptom improved. Postoperative hyperthermia may result following resection of the pituitary tumor. When central fever is suspected taking note of past history, a quick recognition of course of fever can help reduce the using of unnecessary antibiotics and hospital stay.

Objectives : This study was investigated to demonstrate the relationship between stress and emotional responses of depression, anxiety, and anger in patients with mood disorder.Methods : Fifty patients with major depressive disorder diagnosed by DSM-IV were compared to those with bipolar manic disorder. All subjects were evaluated for perceived stress, Beck depression inventory, dysfunctional attitude, state-trait anxiety, state-trait anger and anger expression. The data were analyzed by t-test, correlation, and multiple regression analysis.Results : The results were as follows.1. Depressive group had significantly higher score of perceived stressful life events, depression, state anxiety and trait anxiety than manic group.2. Perceived stress in depressive group was positively correlated with depression, anxiety, state and trait anger, anger expression and sex, however that in manic group was positively correlated with state anger and anger expression.3. In depressive group, trait anxiety, trait anger, age, and dysfunctional attitude predicted 70.6% of variance on depression, perceived stress predicted only 1.2%. Trait anxiety predicted 67.6% for state anxiety, and trait anger and trait anxiety predicted 41.5% for state anger, trait anger and sex predicted 34.0% for anger expression.4. In manic group, education and trait anger predicted 28.7% of variance of depression, and trait anger predicted 38.3% for state anxiety. Trait anger and education predicted 29.4% for state anger, and state anger and sex, state anxiety predicted 36.3% for anger expression.Conclusion : The results suggest that emotional responses to perceived stress in depressive group are related to depression, anxiety, and anger but those in manic group are related to anger.

We have used molecular biology technique to label the side chains and backbone of HBV preS1(1-56) with stable isotope (??) during E. coli over-expression and purified the protein to near homogeneity. The expression level of ?? labelled preS1(1-56) seems to be ∼15% of the total protein. to characterize the secondary structure of the labelled protein, circular dichroism was used. In different buffer conditions including pH 3.3 and pH 7.4 the protein seems to be devoid of any stable secondary structure probably suggesting that the N-terminal portion (preS1(1-56)) of HBV preS1 might be unstructured before binding to its target cells.

고내열 Polyester-imide Resin의 합성 및 열적 성질

Methylene dianiline(MDA)와 trimellitic anhydride (TMA)를 반응시켜 diacid diimide (DID)를 합성하고 이를 과량의 ethyleneglycol과 반응시켜 bishydroxyethylbisimide(BHEI) 중간체를 합성하였다. 다음 dimethylterephthalate와 ethyleneglycol를 에스테르 교환 반응시켜 bishydroxyethyl terephthalate(BHET)중간체를 합성하였고 이를 BHEI와 280℃, 감압(1~3 ㎜Hg)의 용융상태에서 축합 중합하여 polyester-imide를 얻었으며 GPC 및 ^1H-NMR로 분자량 및 공중합체 조성을 구하였다. 생성된 공중합체는 imide단위가 2-10 mole% 함유됨에 따라 PET단독중합체(T_g=78.9℃)보다 내열성(공중합체 T_g=81.9-91.6℃) 이 증가됨을 확인하였다. Dimethylterephthlate was reacted with ethyleneglycol by ester interchange reaction to give bishydroxyethylterephthalate(BHET) intermediate. BHET and BHEI was cocondensed in the melt state at 280℃ under reduced pressure (1~3 ㎜Hg) to give polyester-imide type copolymer. The molecular weight and composition of copolymer was determined by GPC and ^1H-NMR. The resulting copolymer showed increased thermal stability (T_g=81.9-91.6℃ with imide unite content of 2-10 ㏖%) compared to homopolymer (PET, T_g=78.9℃).

CTX-M형 ESBL 생성 비장티푸스성 살모넬라의 특성

Background: Extended-spectrum ß-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Salmonella have been increasingly reported worldwide. ESBL-producing Salmonella is of particular concern since children cannot be treated with quinolones. This study was conducted to determine the phenotypic and genetic characteristics of ESBL-producing Salmonella in a tertiary hospital. Materials and Methods: Four clinical ESBL-producing isolates of non-typhoidal Salmonella were collected during 2001 to 2009. Antimicrobial susceptibility was determined by disk diffusion test and VITEK-II system. ESBL production was tested by ESBL phenotypic confirmatory test. TEM, SHV, CTX-M1, CTX-M2, CTX-M8, and CTX-M9 type ESBL genes were detected by PCR amplification, and PCR products were subjected to direct sequencing Results: Phenotypic confirmatory test showed that 4 of the 300 non-typhoidal Salmonella isolates were ESBL-producing: 3 S. Enteritidis and 1 S. Typhimurium. All 4 isolates were recovered during the past 1 year period. All 3 S. Enteritidis harbored CTX-M-15, while the S. Typhimurium harbored CTX-M-14. All CTX-M-15-producing S. Enteritidis isolates showed resistance both to cefotaxime and ceftazidime, while the CTX-M-14-producing S. Enteritidis were resistant only to cefotaxime. Conclusions: ESBL-producing nontyphoidal Salmonella has emerged recently and the type of ESBL has switched from TEM and SHV to CTX-M.

In this paper we will show that many spectra are harmonic, including finite spectra and connective spectra with torsion free homology. We will also syudy some dissonant spectra.
