Emphysematous cystitis is an uncommon disease in which bacterias produce gas within the bladder wall and surrounding tissue. Patients with diabetes, neurogenic bladder and chronic urinary tract infection are predisposed to the disease. It is usually caused by E.coli and Klebsiella. Severity of illness ranges from an asymtomatic condition to life threatening cystitis. Succesful management depends on early diagnosis with correction of underlying causes, administration of appropriate antibiotics, establishment of adequate bladder drainage and surgical excision of involved tissue when required. We report a case of 52-year-old woman who did not compain of symtoms of cystitis but epigastric pain, nausea, and vomitting. Emphysematous cystitis was revealed on the abdominal X-ray series incidentally. CT scans of the pelvis showed mottled gas bubble within the bladder. After treatment, the symtoms subsided and plain abdominal film showed no evidence of gas shadow in the pelvic cavity.

Yttria-stabilized zirconia granule powder was prepared by a spray drying method, and the compacted and sintered behaviors were investigated Optimum slurry was prepared by the mixing of 70 vol% zirconia powder and 30% water and milling for 15 h in zirconia jar The slurry was stabilized by the addition of binder(PEG 155%, PVA 05%), dispersant(Cerasperse) 06%, Antifoaming agent(SN Defoamer) 03%, and Lubricant(Lu-6418) 1%, and the viscosity of this slurry showed the 5 dPas The optimum condition for the spray-drying of yttria stabilized zirconia powder is the inlet temperature of 110℃, outlet temperature of 90℃, slurry feeding rate of 140cc/min , and atomizer speed of 9000 rpm.
고도 중증외상 환자에서 급성 혈액응고장애가 초기 및 조기 사망에 미치는 영향

Purpose: Numerous studies have investigated the pattern of traumatic death with a focus on the injury mechanism, the severity of the injury and the presence of hemorrhage. Acute coagulopathy has been treated as only one of many complications. The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of acute coagulopathy on acute and early death due to trauma. Methods: A retrospective analysis of trauma patients with injury severity score (ISS)≥25 who had been treated between January 2011 and December 2012 was conducted. Based on the time of injury, traumatic death was categorized into acute (within 48 hours) and early (from 3 to 7 days). The correlations between various parameters within 24 hours after injury and time of death were analyzed. Results: A total of 124 patients were enrolled. Of them, 8.1% (n=10) of the patients experienced acute mortality. For those patients, significant differences in initial systolic blood pressure, coagulopathy score, amount of transfusion, abbreviated injury scale of the head and neck, the abdomen and the extremities were noted. Early mortality was experienced by 7.0% (n=8) of the patients, only coagulopathy score was found to be a significant independent risk factor for acute (odds ratio: 3.127; 95% confidence interval: 1.185-8.252; p=0.021) and early mortality (odds ratio: 2.470; 95% confidence interval: 1.029-5.929; p=0.043). Conclusion: Acute traumatic coagulopathy has an important role in the mortality, even after the acute phase. Early management and prevention of acute coagulopathy may improve survival of trauma patients. [ J Trauma Inj 2014; 27: 158-64 ]

The $Mg_xZn_{1-x}O$ thin films with the various content ratio ranging from 0 to 0.4 were prepared by sol-gel spincoating method. To investigate the effects of content ratio on the structural and optical properties of the $Mg_xZn_{1-x}O$ thin films, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and photoluminescence (PL) were carried out. With increase in the content ratio, the grain size of the $Mg_xZn_{1-x}O$ thin films was increased, however, at the content ratio above 0.2, MgO particles with cubic structure were formed on the surface of the $Mg_xZn_{1-x}O$ thin films, indicating that the Mg content exceeded its solubility limit in the thin films. The residual stress of the $Mg_xZn_{1-x}O$ thin films is increased with increase in the Mg mole fraction. In the PL investigations, the bandgap and the activation energy of the $Mg_xZn_{1-x}O$ thin films was increased with the Mg mole fraction.

Recently, the interest for environment friendly is a hot issue. Korea is not an exception in the global problems, and national efforts should be continued to decrease the CO₂consumption cooperating with others. Globally, in the building field that has 30-40% of total energy usage, it is soon prepared the resolution to decrease the energy usage. In the building field, the adaptation of technology concerned with IT is the urgent, and among them, paradigm shift to BIM system method is needed. Energy consumption of this building is much influenced by a fact determined in the design stage of building initially. Better energy reduction design should be with consideration to reduction of energy in the design stage.
Samsoeum inhibits systemic anaphylaxis and release of histamine, cytokine in vivo and in vitro

Samsoeum (SSE) is used in traditional oriental medicine for various medicinal purposes. However, the exact mechanism that accounts for the anti-allergy and anti-inflammatory effects of the SSE is still not fully understood. The aim of the present study is to elucidate whether and how SSE modulates the allergic reactions in vivo, and inflammatory reaction in vitro. In this study, we showed that SSE significantly decreased compound 48/80-induced systemic anaphylaxis, ear-swelling response, histamine release from preparation of rat peritoneal mast cells and anti-dinitropheny IgE-induced passive cutaneous reaction. Also, SSE inhibited the expression of inflammatory cytokine and cyclooxygenase-2 in PMA plus A23187-stimulated human mast cells (HMC-1). In addition, we showed that anti-inflammatory mechanism of SSE is through suppression of nuclear factor-${\kappa}B$ activation and $I{\kappa}B-{\alpha}$ phosphorylation/degradation in HMC-1. These results provided new insight into the pharmacological actions of SSE as a potential molecule for therapy of inflammatory allergic diseases.

헬리코박터 파이로리 치료 실패 후 레보플록사신을 이용한 3차 구제요법의 기간에 따른 제균율

Background/Aims: This study evaluated the eradication rate of levofloxacin-containing rescue therapy by treatment duration in patients in whom previous first- and second-line treatment failed. Methods: Fifty-five patients with persistent Helicobacter pylori infection after first-line therapy and second-line therapy were studied in a single referral academic center. We compared the eradication rates by the treatment duration of third-line therapy. Results: Of 55 patients, 12 (21.8%) received rescue therapy for seven days, 24 (43.6%) received rescue therapy for 10 days, and 19 (34.5%) received rescue therapy for 14 days. The eradication rates of therapy with levofloxacin were 65.5% in the 55 enrolled patients and 73.5% in the 49 patients who underwent follow-up testing. In cases where follow-up testing was performed, the eradication rate of 7-day therapy was 58.3%, of 10-day 68.2%, and of 14-day therapy 93.3%. Eradication rate of 14-day therapy was higher than 7-day (p=0.06) and 10-day (p=0.108), but chance could not be ruled out in the difference among groups. Conclusions: This study showed somewhat increasing of H. pylori eradication rate by extending the duration of levofloxacin-containing rescue therapy to 14 days.
