The Potential Space of Art : Creativity, Affect and transgression
Nicholas Addison 한국국제미술교육학회 2012 미술과 교육 Vol.13 No.1
investigate the conditions that enable creativity to flourish school art education by looking at the environmental conditions that support and sustain creative activity. In the process I critique the emphasis on creative individuals drawing in Vygotskian notion of learning as a social event as well as critiquing the benign profile of creativity as a primarily productive process. The latter is examined in relation to a transgressive event in which school students "attack" their teacher through the license afforded them by a drawing "game." This is theorized in relation to Klein and her insistence on the persistence of infantile phantasy and its signiticance for creative action. To bring these ideas together I draw on Winncott's notion of a "potential space" as one in which safe, materna environments allow children to take risks, a necessity for creativity.
Performance Characteristics of Internet Data Center Cooling System Utilizing Water Source
Nicholas Lamptey Boafo,Selorm Kwaku Anka,Jong Min Choi 대한설비공학회 2022 대한설비공학회 학술발표대회논문집 Vol.2022 No.6
Internet data centers have grown significantly in recent years as a result of the extensive use of telecommunication and internet systems, and they are already causing energy and environmental challenges. Conventional data centers are usually cooled by air-source vapor compression systems which require an uninterrupted electricity supply all year round. The energy consumption of the space cooling system has been in charge by 30-50% of the total energy delivered to a typical data center. There is rare literature on the use of dam water as a potential heat source for IDC cooling systems. This paper presents a cooling system utilizing deep dam water as a heat source. The basic performance characteristics of the system were experimentally analyzed according to operational methods with emphasis on the variation of entering water temperature. It is observed that the capacity for the two modes increases significantly as the OD EWT falls. Overall system COP in the free cooling mode increased greatly rather than it in the forced cooling mode.
Inflation and Uncertainty: Does the EMS Participation Play Any Role?
( Nicholas Apergis ) 세종대학교 경제통합연구소 1998 Journal of Economic Integration Vol.13 No.4
This paper examines whether European Monetary System (EMS) membership has affected the link between inflation and inflation uncertainty. ARCH measures of conditional inflation volatility and Granger-causality tests for nine OECD countries over the period 1980-1994 indicate that in non-EMS countries -in these countries a monetary target seems to have been closely followedinflation seems to determine the behaviour of inflation uncertainty. By contrast, in EMS countries - these countries have geared their monetary policies to an exchange rate target - inflation seems to have no impact on inflation uncertainty. This finding is probably due first, to the absence of any institutional restriction that characterises non-EMS membership, on the manner the monetary policy is pursued, and second, to the fact that under a monetary rule, any institutional or regulatory changes in the monetary sector are expected to fall more adversely upon inflation as well as inflation uncertainty. On a pathological specimen of breast cancer cells, retraction artifact during histological processing mimics true lymphovascular invasion (LVI). The accurate determination of the presence or absence of LVI is a factor in determining risk of having a positive sentinel node, or having additional positive axillary nodes after a positive sentinel node biopsy in women with early-stage breast cancer. The determination of nodal risk influences the decision of the treating physicians as to whether a sentinel node biopsy or completion axillary dissection is necessary. On slide preparation, ideal factors favoring true LVI include: a definite endothelial lining, with endothelial nuclei that seem to protrude into the lymphatic space; invasion in one lymphatic vessel (LV) lumen with nearby cancer glands that have minimal or no retraction; a tumor embolus in a LV clear lumen with outside nearby tumor bulk; a tumor embolus that is different in shape than its surrounding clear LV space; and a positive stain for fibrin, CD31, or CD34 on tumor embolus periphery.
