        A Spatial-Temporal Three-Dimensional Human Pose Reconstruction Framework

( Xuan Thanh Nguyen ),( Thi Duyen Ngo ),( Thanh Ha Le ) 한국정보처리학회 2019 Journal of information processing systems Vol.15 No.2

Three-dimensional (3D) human pose reconstruction from single-view image is a difficult and challenging topic. Existing approaches mostly process frame-by-frame independently while inter-frames are highly correlated in a sequence. In contrast, we introduce a novel spatial-temporal 3D human pose reconstruction framework that leverages both intra and inter-frame relationships in consecutive 2D pose sequences. Orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) algorithm, pre-trained pose-angle limits and temporal models have been implemented. Several quantitative comparisons between our proposed framework and recent works have been studied on CMU motion capture dataset and Vietnamese traditional dance sequences. Our framework outperforms others by 10% lower of Euclidean reconstruction error and more robust against Gaussian noise. Additionally, it is also important to mention that our reconstructed 3D pose sequences are more natural and smoother than others.

Analyzing the Purity of Carbon Nanotubes by Using Different Methods

Ngo Thi Thanh Tam,Nguyen Xuan Nghia,Nguyen The Quynh,Phan Hong Khoi,Phan Ngoc Minh 한국물리학회 2008 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.52 No.5

The purity of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) was evaluated by using a variety of methods: X-ray diraction, Raman spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and energy dispersive X-ray uores- cence spectroscopy. X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis were used for a qualitative evaluation of impurities and energy dispersive X-ray uorescence spectroscopy was utilized for a quantitative determination. All experimental results evaluating the purity ob- tained from these techniques are consistent with each other for CNT samples with different degrees of purity. The purity of the CNT samples was found to be greatly increased when they were annealed in air or in vacuum. The contributions of Si-related, crystalline carbon, non-crystalline carbon and Fe and Ni components are discussed. Anatomic characteristics and novel transplantation model of the canine uterus

        Xuan-Hai Do,Thanh-Hai Tong,Trung-Chuc Nguyen,Tuan-Anh Ngo,Minh-Trang Thi Tran 대한이식학회 2023 Korean Journal of Transplantation Vol.37 No.2

Background: In Vietnam, the rate of absolute uterine factor infertility is increasing, but no study has been published on uterine transplantation. The present study was designed to comprehensively observe the canine uterine anatomy and to examine the possibility of using a living canine donor for uterine transplantation training and further research. Methods: Ten female Vietnamese mixed-breed dogs were sacrificed for anatomical research, and 15 additional pairs were used to evaluate the novel uterine transplant model. Results: The anatomic features of the canine uterus differed considerably from those of the human uterus, with the uterine vessels originating from branches of the pudendal vessels (also known as the vaginal vessels). The uterine vascular pedicle had a small diameter (1 to 1.5 mm for arteries and 1.2 to 2.0 mm for veins) and required manipulation under a microscope. To perform uterine transplantation, the donor specimen’s artery and vein lengths were successfully reconstructed by anastomosis between both sides of the vasculature using autologous Y-shaped subcutaneous veins. The living-donor uterine transplantation model constructed in this study was feasible, with the transplanted uterus surviving in 86.7% of cases (13/15). Conclusions: Uterine transplantation was successfully performed in a Vietnamese canine living donor model. This model could be helpful in uterine transplantation training and improve the transplantation success rate in humans.

A Comprehensive Study on Fish Species Composition, Diversity, Migration, Threatened Status, Economic Value and Endemism in the Co Chien River, Ben Tre Province (Mekong Delta), Vietnam

        Xuan-Dong Nguyen,Ngo Xuan Quang,Thanh Luu Pham,Bijeesh Kozhikkodan Veettil 한국해양과학기술원 2022 Ocean science journal Vol.57 No.1

The Mekong River Delta is a hotspot of aquaculture and fish biodiversity. In this study, fish community structure, migration, threatened status and economic value were investigated in the Co Chien River (COR) from August 2017 to July 2019. A total of 3640 fish specimens were collected from 11 sampling stations in the COR. These belong to 133 species of 107 genera of 58 families of 17 orders. The Perch-like order (Perciformes) is the most diverse group, with 65 species accounting for 48.87% of total species collected. The catfish order (Siluriformes) is the second-most diverse group with 15 species (11.28%) and the carps (Cypriniformes) with 14 species (10.53%) is the third. The remaining major groups in the order of diversity are the Herring (Clupeiformes) consisting of 9 species (6.77%) and the Flounder (Pleuronectiformes) consisting of 7 species (5.26%). The remaining orders have number of species varying from 1 to 3 (0.75–2.26%). Among the 133 species recorded, 6 species were considered as Vulnerable category based on the Vietnam Red Data Book (2007). According to the IUCN Red list (2021), 1 species (Coilia mystus) is Endangered (0.75%), 2 species (Maculabatis gerrardi and Pangasius krempfi) are Vulnerable (1.50%), 4 species are Near Threatened (3.01%), 6 species are Data deficient (4.51%), and 76 species are considered as Least concern (57.14%). The results shown that 79 species were migratory fishes (20 species migrated from the upstream and 59 species migrated from the sea), 41 species are endemic species for the MR (30.83% of the total species collected and 23.70% of total endemic species of the MR) and 36 fish species are considered as of local economic value (27.07%). The diversity of fish species was found to be more diverse in the dry season than the wet season, which indicates the influence of river water salinity changes on fish diversity in the region.

Fabrication and Photoluminescence Properties of ZnS Nanoribbons and Nanowires

Ngo Xuan Dai,Do Thanh Long,Nguyen Ngoc Long,Nguyen Thi Thuc Hien 한국물리학회 2008 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.52 No.5

Zinc-sulfide (ZnS) nanoribbons and nanowires were fabricated via thermal evaporation of ZnS powder using a gold catalyst. The ZnS nanoribbons had thicknesses of about 100 nm, lateral di- mensions of several micrometers and lengths of hundreds to thousands of micrometers. The ZnS nanowires have diameters of 200 nm and lengths of thousands of micrometers. The photolumines- cence of the as-synthesized ZnS nanostructures in temperature range from 15 K to room temperature was investigated. We observed two groups of lines, one in the ultraviolet (UV) and one in the visible regions of the photoluminescence spectrum, at 15 K for the ZnS nanoribbons and nanowires. The UV lines were located at 3.777 eV (328.3 nm), 3.735 eV (332.0 nm), 3.699 eV (335.2 nm), 3.657 eV (339.0 nm), 3.618 eV (342.7 nm), 3.573 eV (347.0 nm) and 3.391 eV (365.6 nm). The visible lines were located at 3.024 eV (410.0 nm), 2.842 eV (436.3 nm) and 2.450 eV (506.1 nm). The origins of these emission lines will be discussed. Biodiversity of Meiofauna in thee Intertidal Khe Nhan Mudflat, Can Gio Mangrove Forest, Vietnam with Special Emphasis on Free Living Nematodes

Xuan, Quang-Ngo,Vanreusel, Ann,Thanh, Nguyen Vu,Smol, Nic The Korean Society of Oceanography 2007 Ocean science journal Vol.42 No.3

The ecological aspect of meiofaunal communities in Can Gio mangrove forest, Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam has not been investigated before. The composition, distribution, density and biodiversity of meiofaunal communities were studied along an intertidal transect at the Khe Nhan mudflat. Each time, three replicate samples were collected in four stations along a transect following the water line from low tide level up to the mangrove forest edge. In total, 18 meiofaunal taxa were found with the dominant taxa belonging to Nematoda, Copepoda, Sarcomastigophora and Polychaeta. The densities of meiofauna ranged from $1156inds/10cm^2$ to $2082inds/10cm^2$. The increase in densities from the mangrove forest edge towards the low water line was significant Along the mudflat transect, the biodiversity (expressed by different indices) was relatively high at different taxonomic levels but did not vary significantly along the mudflat except for taxa richness. Eighty nematode genera belonging to 24 families with Comesomatidae having the highest abundance 33.8 % were found. Theristus and Neochromadora decreased in densities from the lower water line towards the mangrove forest edge, while Paracomesoma and Hopperia are typical and more abundant at the middle of the mudflat. Halalaimus increased from high on the mudflat to the low water line.
