Benign osteoblastoma of the mandible: a case report

Osteoblastoma is a rare benign neoplasm formed by osteoid tissue and well-vascularized bone that occurs mainly in children and adolescents. It appears primarily in the long bones, vertebral column, and small bones of the hands and feet, and not typically in the skull and maxillary bones. The purpose of this study is to present the case of an 8-year-old girl with a diagnosis of right mandibular osteoblastoma and a review of the relevant literature. The goals of treatment were to preserve dental occlusion, masticatory function and facial symmetry while minimizing the effects on patient body image and quality of life. Osteoblastoma, although it is benign, can be aggressive, and its treatment will depend on the timing of diagnosis, size and location. Early diagnosis is essential to avoid not only radical surgery as in the case presented, but also to help minimize the risk of possible relapse and potential malignancy of a benign osteoblastoma.

The evolution of breast reconstructive surgery keeps pace with the evolution of breast oncologic surgery. The reconstructive choice should always balance the optimal local control of disease and the best cosmetic result, reflecting an informed decision that is shared with the patient, who is always at the center of the decision-making process. Implant-based breast reconstruction following mastectomy represents a complex choice. In order to obtain optimal results, the following considerations are mandatory: thorough preoperative planning, a complete knowledge of the devices that are used, accurately performed surgery, and appropriate follow-up.
Correlation Between the Sinew Channels with the Myofascial System, Pathology, and Treatment

The sinew channels are a tendon and muscle network, and their description is based on the observation presented on the Huangdi Neijing Ling Shu. However, the myofascial system is an uninterrupted series of connective tissue that is comprised of layers that run in different directions. The similarities on these pathways are compared, such as a brief description on the myofascial pain syndrome and its similitude with the Impediment disorder from the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Furthermore, we discuss the treatment of these conditions from a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective.

This paper investigates an alternative way to the Raleigh formula to catch con- tributions of damping effects. Nowadays, thanks to the power of new software and effi- cient computational methods, there exist possibility to implement new analysis of damping through multiscale approach. The corresponding homogenization of a representative elemen-tal volume of concrete is used to calculate the effective properties of the composite, since energy dissipation properties such as viscoelasticity are not taken into account. At the end of this work, these methodologies are incorporated into a column of a building subject to seismic action. More precisely, with concrete as a composite material (aggregate+cement), we can use homogenization methods to calculate its effective properties by using the classical approach of a representative elemental volume. This can help to take into account properties of energy dissipation, such as produced by viscoelasticity. Finally, for illustration, the pro- posed methodology is applied to structural analysis of a column under the most unfavorable conditions in a building subject to earthquake action.

The purpose of this study is to examine how the Indian banks have adjusted their risk-based capital ratios during 2009–2018 to meet the regulatory requirements. Banks can, in principle, increase their risk-based regulatory capital ratio, either by increasing their levels of regulatory capital or by shrinking their risk-weighted assets by adjusting asset growth or risk in the portfolio. We investigate banks’ capital behavior by decomposing the change in the capital ratio into the contribution of its components and analyzing their variance across regulatory regimes and banks’ ownerships. We further investigate how each component of the capital ratio is adjusted by the banks by breaking down them into balance sheet items. We find that the banks’ capital behavior significantly differed between public and private sector banks and between the two regulatory regimes. During Basel II, banks, in general, followed a strategy of aggressive asset growth with increased risk-taking. The decline in the CRAR because of such an expansionary strategy was adjusted by augmenting additional capital. However, during Basel III, due to higher capital requirements, both in terms of quantity and quality, banks followed a strategy of cutting back their asset growth and reducing the risk in their portfolio to maintain their CRAR.

In this paper we study the control for nonlinear geometric instability problem of a deep or a shallow truss or yet a frame structure. All the structural models are built with geometrically exact truss and beam finite elements.The proposed models can successfully handle large overall motion under static or dynamic conservative load.The control strategy considers adding a damping from either friction device or viscous damper.This kind of control belong to well-known concept of passivity. Different examples are presented in order to illustrate the proposed theoretical developments.
The thickness of BaTiO3 tape castings as function of the slip system

One of the most popular techniques in the fabrication of multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) is tape casting, which requires the preparation of a slip that could be either solvent or water-based. A requirement of MLCC miniaturization has pushed improvement of this technique up to the point of fabricating ceramic films below 10μm. However, less information on a direct comparison of aqueous and non-aqueous slips systems using BaTiO3 for dielectric tapes below 3.5 μm is available in the literature. Therefore, solvent and water-based systems were studied in this research aimed to weight the different factors on the thickness reduction; in particular the relation between slip viscosity and ceramic tape thickness was established for both slips formulations. It was found that viscosity below 100 mPa·s is a not a general rule since there is an important influence of the solvent medium; nevertheless adhesion tape-substrate plays an important role over the thinning of water-based formulations. The slip viscosity is defined by the dispersant type of aqueous systems and the binder of non aqueous systems, while reduction of the powder size is more sensitive to the solvent medium as for polar/non –polar mixtures. Ceramic tape homogeneity is strongly affected by the presence of hard aggregation and should be accounted for with the use of nanoparticles. A condition was also demonstrated where low viscosities and thinner layers are related.
