This study examined the effects of startup firm's knowledge assets on the effectiveness of their sales strategies, efficiency of sales activities, and management performance, after categorizing these assets into customer knowledge assets and technology knowledge assets. Furthermore, the moderating effects of promotion focus by CEOs and sales managers of startup firms were analyzed. For the analysis, dyadic questionnaire surveys were conducted targeting the CEOs and sales managers of startup firms established at the Gyeongnam Technopark and the KAIST Technology Business Incubation Center in Korea. Hypotheses were verified through structural equation modeling, and moderating effects were identified through ANOVA. CEO's customer knowledge asset strengthened their effectiveness of sales strategies, and sales manager's technology knowledge asset strengthened the efficiency of their sales activities. Also, CEO's effectiveness of sales strategies and sales manager's efficiency of sales activities have been found to enhance startup firm's management performance. Meanwhile, the moderating effect of promotion focus strengthened CEO's effectiveness of sales strategies through CEO's customer knowledge asset and interaction as CEO's promotion focus level increased, but promotion focus of sales managers did not have any significant interaction effect. This study provides implications by offering empirical evidence on startup firms with regard to knowledge assets.

세포 내 수송 및 축삭 수송은 kinesin 및 cytoplasmic dynein과 같은 미세소관 의존성 모터단백질에 의해 운반된다. Kinesin은 미세소관을 따라 미세소관의 플러스 쪽 끝으로 이동하고, dynein은 미세소관의 마이너스 쪽 끝으로 이동한다. Kinesin-1은 kinesin superfamily protein (KIF)중에서 처음으로 확인된 kinesin으로, 카복실(C)-말단 영역과 cargo간 결합을 통해 세포내 소기관, 신경전달물질 수용체 및 mRNA-단백질 복합체를 포함한 다양한 cargo의 세포내 수송 기능을 수행한다. Kinesin-1은 다양한 cargo들을 수송하지만, kinsin-1과 cargo 사이를 매개하는 어댑터/스캐폴더 단백질은 아직 완전히 확인되지 않았다. KIF5A의 C-말단 영역과 상호 작용하는 어댑터 단백질을 규명하기 위해 효모 2-하이브리드 스크리닝을 하여, cyclin-dependent kinase 2-associated protein 1 (CDK2AP1)를 확인하였다. CDK2AP1은 KIF5A의 C-말단 영역에 결합하고 KIF3A, KIF5B, KIF5C 및 kinesin light chain 1 (KLC1)과는 결합하지 않았다. CDK2AP1의 C-말단 영역은 KIF5A와의 결합에 필수적이었다. HEK-293T 세포에 CDK2AP1 및 kinesin-1은 동시 발현하여 면역침강하면 CDK2AP1 및 kinesin-1은 같이 면역침강하였다. 그리고 CDK2AP1 및 kinesin-1은 세포내에서도 같은 위치에 발현하였다. 이러한 결과들은 KIF5A-CDK2AP1결합은 kinesin-1이 cargo를 운반할 때 kinesin-1과 cargo 사이를 연결하는 어댑터 단백질 역할을 시사한다. Intracellular and axonal transport is mediated by microtubule-dependent motor proteins, such as kinesins and cytoplasmic dynein. Kinesin moves along the microtubule to the positive end of the microtubule, while dynein moves to the negative end of the microtubule. Kinesin-1 was first identified as a kinesin superfamily protein (KIF) that functions in the intracellular transport of various cargoes, including organelles, neurotransmitter receptors, and mRNA-protein complexes, through interactions between the carboxyl (C)-terminal domain and the cargo. It interacts with other cargoes, but the adapter/scaffold proteins that mediate between kinesin-1 and the cargo have yet to be fully identified. In this study, a yeast two-hybrid screen was used to identify adapter proteins that interact with the C-terminal region of KIF5A. We found an association between the C-terminal region of KIF5A and the cyclin-dependent kinase 2-associated protein 1 (CDK2AP1), originally identified in malignant hamster oral keratinocytes. CDK2AP1 bound to the C-terminal region of KIF5A and did not interact with KIF3A (the motor of kinesin-2), KIF5B, KIF5C, and kinesin light chain 1 (KLC1). The C-terminal region of CDK2AP1 is essential for its interaction with KIF5A. When co-expressed in HEK-293T cells, CDK2AP1 and kinesin-1 co-immunoprecipitated and co-localized in the cells. These results suggest that the KIF5A-CDK2AP1 interaction serves as an adapter protein connecting kinesin-1 and the cargo when kinesin-1 transports cargo in cells.
Pulmonary function and toxicities of proton versus photon for limited-stage small cell lung cancer

Purpose: We aimed to compare the oncological outcomes and toxicities of definitive proton beam therapy (PBT) and photon beam therapy in patients with limited-stage small cell lung cancer (LS-SCLC). Materials and Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 262 patients with newly diagnosed LS-SCLC who underwent definitive PBT (n = 20; proton group) or photon beam therapy (n = 242; photon group) with concurrent chemotherapy between January 2016 and February 2021 and compared overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), dose-volume parameters, and toxicities between the groups. Results: The median follow-up duration was 24.5 months (range, 3.7 to 78.7). Baseline lung function was significantly worse and clinical target volume (CTV) was larger in the proton group (CTV: 296.6 vs. 215.3 mL; p = 0.080). The mean lung V10 was 37.7% ± 16.8% and 51.6% ± 24.5% in the proton and photon groups, respectively (p = 0.002). Two-year OS and PFS rates were 57.2% and 35.7% in the proton group and 65.3% and 40.8% in the photon group, respectively (p = 0.542 and 0.748, respectively). Grade ≥2 radiation pneumonitis and esophagitis occurred in 5 (25.0%) and 7 (35.0%) PBT-treated patients and 66 (27.3%) and 40 (16.5%) photon beam therapy-treated patients, respectively (p = 0.826 and 0.062, respectively). Conclusion: Although the proton group had poorer lung function and a larger CTV than that in the photon group, both groups exhibited comparable treatment outcomes and radiation-related toxicities in LS-SCLC. PBT may be a valuable therapeutic modality in patients with poor pulmonary function or extensive disease burden owing to its lung-sparing ability.

<▼1><P>An acridine derived compound, 9,9-dimethyl-10-(9-phenyl-9<I>H</I>-carbazol-3-yl)-9,10-dihydroacridine (PCZAC), was newly designed as a hole transport type high triplet energy material for application as a hole transport type exciton blocking layer of blue phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes.</P></▼1><▼2><P>An acridine derived compound, 9,9-dimethyl-10-(9-phenyl-9<I>H</I>-carbazol-3-yl)-9,10-dihydroacridine (PCZAC), was newly designed as a hole transport type high triplet energy material for application as a hole transport type exciton blocking layer of blue phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes. The PCZAC compound provided a high triplet energy of 2.99 eV and a high glass transition temperature of 101 °C for high efficiency and long lifetime. PCZAC showed an improved quantum efficiency and more than 8 time improvement of the lifetime of blue phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes.</P></▼2>

Background: Nephrotoxicity is a common side effect of medications. Panax ginseng is one of the bestknown herbal medicines, and its individual constituents enhance renal function. Identification of its efficacy and mechanisms of action against drug-induced nephrotoxicity, as well as the specific constituents mediating this effect, have recently emerged as an interesting research area focusing on the kidney protective efficacy of P. ginseng. Methods: The present study investigated the kidney protective effect of fermented black ginseng (FBG) and its active component ginsenoside 20(S)-Rg3 against cisplatin (chemotherapy drug)-induced damage in pig kidney (LLC-PK1) cells. It focused on assessing the role of mitogen-activated protein kinases as important mechanistic elements in kidney protection. Results: The reduced cell viability induced by cisplatin was significantly recovered with FBG extract and ginsenoside 20(S)-Rg3 dose-dependently. The cisplatin-induced elevated protein levels of phosphorylated c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK), p53, and cleaved caspase-3 were decreased after cotreatment with FBG extract or ginsenoside 20(S)-Rg3. The elevated percentage of apoptotic LLC-PK1 cells induced by cisplatin treatment was significantly abrogated by cotreatment with FBG and the ginsenoside 20(S)-Rg3. Conclusion: FBG and its major ginsenoside 20(S)-Rg3, ameliorated cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity in LLC-PK1 cells by blocking the JNKep53ecaspase-3 signaling cascade.

<P>The highly efficient CH3NH3PbI3 perovskite solar cell (PeSC) is simply achieved by employing a blended electron-transport layer (ETL) consisting of PC61BM and P(NDI2OD-T2). The high molecular weight of P(NDI2OD-T2) allows for a thinned ETL with a uniform morphology that optimizes the PC61BM ETL more effectively. As a result of this enhancement, the power conversion efficiency of a PC61BM:P(NDI20D-T2)-based PeSC is 25% greater than that of the conventional PC61BM based-PeSC; additionally, the incorporation of P(NDI2OD-T2) into PC61BM attenuates the dependence of the PeSC on the ETL-processing conditions regarding its performance. It is revealed that, in addition to the desirable n-type semiconducting characteristics of PC61BM:P(NDI2OD-T2) including a higher electron-mobility and a more-effective electron selectivity of a blended ETL for an efficient electron extraction the superior performance of a PC61BM:P(NDI2OD-T2) device is the result of a thinned and uniformly covered ETL on the perovskite layer.</P>

<P>Plasma pretreatment on the top and bond coats was performed and its influence on the thermal durability of thermal barrier coating (TBC) system was investigated through cyclic thermal exposure. Two types of bond coat were prepared by different methods, namely, air plasma spray (APS) and high-velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF), and two kinds of feedstock powder were employed for preparing the top coat in APS process. The better thermal durability was achieved in the vertically cracked TBC with the surface modified bond coat or with the bond coat prepared by APS process. The hardness and fracture toughness values of TBCs increased because of densification of the top coat during cyclic thermal exposure, and the bond coat prepared by HVOF process showed higher values than that by APS process. The TBCs with the surface modified bond coat were more efficient in improving adhesive strength than those without plasma pretreatment on the bond coat. The relationship between microstructure evolution and thermomechanical characteristics of TBCs with plasma pretreatment was discussed in cyclic thermal exposure.</P>
