Background and Objectives: Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is a disorder that usually occurs in the elderly, leading to dementia in some progressive cases. The purpose of this study is to examine the utility of central auditory processing tests as early diagnostic tools for identifying the elderly with MCI. Subjects and Methods: This study was conducted on 20 elderly patients with MCI and 20 healthy matched peers. The speech perception ability in a quiet environment and in the presence of background noise and also temporal resolution were assessed by using Speech Perception in Noise (SPIN) and Gap in Noise (GIN) tests, respectively. Results: The results indicated that the ability to understand speech in a quiet environment did not differ significantly between the two groups. However, SPIN at the three signal-tonoise ratios and the temporal resolution scores were significantly different between the two groups (p<0.001). Conclusions: Individuals with MCI appear to have poorer speech comprehension in noise and a lower temporal resolution than those of the same age, but without cognitive defects. Considering the utility of these tests in identifying cognitive problems, we propose that since the GIN test seems to be less influenced by intervening factors, this test can therefore, be a useful tool for the early screening of elderly people with cognitive problems.

Epoxy coating was reinforced with polyamidoamine dendrimer-reduced graphene oxide nanosheets(GO-PAMAM) to obtain a high-performance anti-corrosion system. The GO-PAMAM was characterized byX-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and UV–vis analysis. Results confirmedthat PAMAM molecules successfully grafted on the GO surface, resulting in the lamellae d-spacingincrement. Results of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and salt spray test evidenced that inthe presence of 0.2 wt.% GO-PAMAM the epoxy coating corrosion protection properties were effectivelyenhanced. It was found from the results that the PAMAM could enhance the GO particle dispersion in theepoxy through increasing the GO nanosheets interlayer space and surface hydrophilic nature reduction.

In this study, graphene oxide nano-platforms were functionalized/reduced (rGO-His) by a greenreductant based on histamine. Additionally, the rGO-His was modified by zinc metal cations in two ways(I and II) and characterized by FT-IR, XRD, XPS, HR-TEM and FE-SEM. Then, by dynamic mechanicalthermal analysis (DMTA), tensile test and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) the mechanical/thermalproperties of the epoxy composite coatingsfilled with rGO-His and rGO-His-Zn (I and II) were evaluated. Results of tensile and DMTA analyses proved significant increment in tensile strength, elongation atbreak, cross-linking density and thermal stability of the coating in the presence of rGO-His.
Highly Correlating Distance/Connectivity-Based Topological Indices. 1:QSPR Studies of Alkanes

Some new topological indices based on the distance matrix and Randic connectivity (as graph invariants) are proposed. The calculation of these indices is simple and they have good discriminating ability toward alkanes. Incorporating the number of carbon atoms to one of the calculated indices gives a highly correlating topological index (Sh index) which found to correlate with selected physicochemical properties of wide range of alkanes, specially, their boiling points. Most of the investigated properties are well modeled (with $r^2$> 0.99) by the Sh index. Meanwhile, the resulting regressions were compared with the results based on the well-established Randic and newly reported Xu indices and, in most cases, better results were obtained by the Sh index. Moreover, multiple linear regression analysis of the alkane properties via calculated indices gives highly correlating models with low standard errors.
Mechanical behavior of steel-concrete composite decks with perfobond shear connectors

Exodermic deck systems are new composite steel grid deck systems which have been used in various projects during the past decade. One of the eminent features of this system is considerable reduction in the structure weight compared to the ordinary reinforced concrete decks and also reduction in construction time by using precast Exodermic decks. In this study, dynamic properties of the Exodermic deck bridges with alternative perfobond shear connectors are investigated experimentally. In order to evaluate the dynamic properties of the decks, peak picking and Nyquist circle fit methods are employed. Frequencies obtained experimentally are in good agreement with the results of the finite-element solution, and the experimental results show that the first mode is the most effective mode among the obtained modes. The first four modes are the rigid translational motion modes, and the next two modes seem to be rigid rotational motion modes around a horizontal axis. From the 7th mode onwards, modes are flexible. The range of damping ratios is about 0.5%. Furthermore, the static behavior of the Exodermic decks under a static load applied at the center of the decks was investigated. Failure of the decks under positive bending was punching-shear. The bending strength of the decks under negative bending was about 50 percent of their strength under positive bending. In addition, the weight of an Exodermic deck is about 40% of that of an equivalent reinforced concrete slab.

In the present work a very simple, sensitive and selective spectrophotometric method for the determination of nitrite in micellar media is described. The method is based on the color reaction of nitrite with p-nitroaniline in the presence of diphenylamine in acid media. In order to remove the extraction step, Triton X-100, a non-ionic surfactant was used as micellar media. The optimum reaction conditions such as acid concentration, reagents concentration and effect of time have been studied and the analytical characteristics of the method such as limit of detection, linear range and molar absorptivity have been obtained. The interference of some anions and cations was also tested. The method was applied to the determination of nitrite in real samples.

As a medicinal plant, the importance of evening primrose (Oenothera biennis L.) is due to its unsaturated fatty acids in the seeds and roots, and also oenotherine and comfarol in the leaves. Low germination and difficulties in seed production are the main problems encountered with growing this plant in the field. As an alternative approach, an in vitro experiment was set up for the evaluation of evening primrose production via direct and indirect regeneration of the cultivars NC-1 and VNK. For callogenesis and direct regeneration, the explants from the apical bud and petiole were cultured on MS medium supplemented with 0.25, 0.75, and $1.25mg\;L^{-1}$ of both BAP and Kinetin (KIN). Indirect regeneration was performed by placing apical buds, petioles, and leaf explants on MS medium supplemented with 0.5 and $1mg\;L^{-1}$ 2,4-D and 0.5, 1, and $1.25mg\;L^{-1}$ of both BAP and KIN. The highest shoot induction from direct regeneration was obtained with apical bud explants of VNK treated with $0.75mg\;L^{-1}$ BAP. The highest callus weight (3.17 g) obtained from indirect regeneration was with petiole explants treated with $1mg\;L^{-1}$ 2, 4-D and $1mg\;L^{-1}$ BAP in VNK cultivars. The highest number of torpedo embryogenic clusters (23.8) was obtained from the VNK petiole explants treated with $0.5mg\;L^{-1}$ 2, 4-D and $1.25mg\;L^{-1}$ BAP. BAP had higher positive effects on in vitro production of evening primrose than KIN in both direct and indirect regeneration. In general, results indicated that VNK was more potent for regeneration than NC-1 and concentrations of $0.75mg\;L^{-1}$ BAP for direct and $0.5mg\;L^{-1}$ 2, 4-D and $1.25mg\;L^{-1}$of BAP for indirect regeneration had a higher efficiency for increasing in vitro production of evening primrose.

Undoubtedly, high temperature is one of the most risk factors that aggravate corrosion, which can greatlyaffect the lifespan of metal substrates. Hence, high temperature corrosion control now become one of theexciting research hotspot for researchers. For corrosion prevention, the application of corrosion inhibitorsis one of the easy and practical ways and with the emergence of nanomaterials, smart inhibitors has beenremarked as a milestone in corrosion science. In this study, layered double hydroxide (LDH) nano-carrierencapsulated gallic acid (GA) was applied to control steel corrosion in high temperature 3.5% NaCl salineenvironment. The structural evaluation of this nanocomposite has been done with the help of X-raydiffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) tests and theresults have confirmed the successful synthesis of this nanocomposite. Then, polarization test predictedthe inhibition mechanism and the results shown the mixed inhibition is responsible for 68% and 60% ofcorrosion controlled in 35 and 45 environment, respectively. But in order to better evaluation, the performanceof the nanocomposite has been checked via electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS)evaluations. Based on the studies, it has been found that high temperature has severely limited the performanceof the pristine GA, but LDH/GA nanocomposite has been able to achieve 72% efficiency at 35 Cand 58% efficiency at 45 C. Finally, Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) captures aidedto assess the morphology of immersed surfaces at different temperatures and Energy Dispersive X-RayAnalysis (EDX)/MAP tests estimated the elemental structure of the samples.
