Methods: We collated and reviewed previously conducted review studies on border closures during infectious disease outbreaks to derive relevant themes and factors. Results: According to our systematic review on border closures and travel restrictions, the effects of such containment efforts are limited. We suggest considering the following factors when determining whether to impose border closure measures: (1) disease characteristics, (2) timeliness of implementation, (3) transmission delay and the basic reproduction number, (4) globalization and pandemics, and (5) social and economic costs. Conclusions: Our assessment indicates that the effects of border closures are at best temporary and limited. Alternative measures must be contemplated and implemented to suppress the spread of COVID-19 in particular and infectious diseases more broadly.

Objective : To report the method and efficacy of the site specific-defects repair in the endopelvic fascia and uterosacral ligament suspension for the correction of posthysterectomy vaginal vault prolapse. Methods : This study was performed in 3 patients with posthyterectomy vaginal vault prolapse who underwent the surgery for the reconstruction of endopelvic fascia and the correction of vault prolapsed vagina by using uterosacral ligament suspension at the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Moon-Hwa Hospital. Among them, 1 patient was treated by laparotomy, and 2 patients were treated by laparoscope. Results : The age of patients ranged from 49 to 67 years. The mean operation time was 111 minutes (105-120 minutes). The status of postoperative vagina was normal in all 3 patients, who were discharged 9 days after operation without symptoms. No complication or recurrence were found in them despite long-term follow-up for 24 months, 12 months, 7 months, respectively after operation. One patient has been treated with HRT therapy. Conclusion : The reconstruction of the defect of endopelvic fascia and uterosacral ligament fixation may be very safe, effective, and functional in the correction of vaginal vault prolapse. This study reports the treatment of vaginal vault prolapse using uterosacral ligament within Korea for the first time.

Korea Aerospace Research Institute(here after KARI) has a plan to launch experimental lunar orbiter in 2018, and lunar orbiter and lander in 2020. There are several ways to go to the moon. Which one is direct transfer trajectory and another one is phasing loop transfer trajectory and the other one is WSB trajectory. Regardless of the transfer trajectories, LOI maneuver is the most important maneuver of all mission sequences because if this burn is failed, it is too difficult to get into the lunar orbit in the future. This paper describes first LOI target value of foreign lunar orbiters and analyzes orbital variations of experimental lunar orbiter according to various target values. By analyzing the variation of orbiter parameter after first LOI, proper orbital period for LOI target value are recommended to meet the inclination, apoapsis and periapsis altitude constraints.

In the preliminary study on launch window requirement for Korea Path-finder Lunar Orbiter(KPLO), the recent foreign lunar orbiter’s lauch window requirement was analyzed. Normally, the launch requirements depends on the mission orbit. Based on the relationship between Moon, Earth, and Sun, the launch time will be available periodically to meet requirements. In this paper, it is understood that the launch window requirements come from payload mission requirements to take picture each poles of Moon. This paper might be a practical example to derive KPLO launch requirements in the future.

BackgroundMost hypomethylating agent (HMA) responders with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) eventually need allogeneic stem cell transplantation (SCT) because they often acquire re-sistance to HMAs within two years of treatment. Considering the nature of MDS and the poor outcomes of SCT when performed after confirming the progression of MDS to acute myeloid leukemia (AML), allogeneic SCT should be performed with caution in patients with low-risk MDS.MethodsTo address low-risk MDS, the Korean AML/MDS working party group designed a survey for 34 MDS experts in Korea on therapeutic HMA and allogeneic SCT policies for low-risk MDS. The level of consensus was defined as the percentage of agreement among the experts.ResultsWith regard to the optimal time for allogeneic SCT for HMA responders with MDS-RA, 76% experts agreed that allogeneic SCT should be performed when a patient has a low platelet count. With regard to the relapse pattern that was most commonly found during HMA treatment in responding patients with MDS-RA, 54% experts agreed that the most common pattern that indicated HMA failure was the gradual worsening of cytopenia. ConclusionThe optimal time to perform allogeneic SCT in RA patients who achieved hematologic complete remission during HMA treatment is when the platelet count decreases. However, these suggestions need to be evaluated in larger future studies. Therefore, care-ful decisions should be taken at each step of allogeneic SCT to maximize the outcomes for patients with MDS-RA and iron overload.
Gate-to-Source/Drain Nonoverlap Device for Soft-Program Immune Unified RAM (URAM)
Jin-Woo Han,Chung-Jin Kim,Sung-Jin Choi,Dong-Hyun Kim,Dong-Il Moon,Yang-Kyu Choi IEEE 2009 IEEE electron device letters Vol.30 No.5

A soft-program immune structure for a unified RAM (URAM) is presented. A unique feature of URAM is the multifunctionality of a flash and capacitorless 1T-DRAM in a single transistor. However, charge trapping into O/N/O during a cyclic 1T-DRAM operation can cause an undesirable threshold voltage shift, resulting in an unstable URAM operation called a soft program. In a gate-to-source/drain nonoverlap structure with a nonextended O/N/O layer under the gate spacer, the impact ionization region is steered out from the gate, which is located under the spacer. In the 1T-DRAM mode of URAM, the programming biases are selected so that impact ionization can occur under the gate spacer, thereby alleviating the soft program. The nonoverlap device relieves the operational voltage constraint imposed by the soft program. In addition, nonvolatile flash memory and capacitorless 1T-DRAM perform an acceptable performance without interference.

Optimization of the optical transparency of bones by PACT-based passive tissue clearing
Jin Byung-Ho,Woo Jiwon,Lee Mirae,Ku Seockmo,Moon Hyung Seok,Ryu Seung Jun,Hyun Young-Min,Park Jeong-Yoon,Kuh Sung Uk,Cho Yong Eun 생화학분자생물학회 2023 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.55 No.-
Recent developments in tissue clearing methods such as the passive clearing technique (PACT) have allowed three-dimensional analysis of biological structures in whole, intact tissues, thereby providing a greater understanding of spatial relationships and biological circuits. Nonetheless, the issues that remain in maintaining structural integrity and preventing tissue expansion/shrinkage with rapid clearing still inhibit the wide application of these techniques in hard bone tissues, such as femurs and tibias. Here, we present an optimized PACT-based bone-clearing method, Bone-mPACT+, that protects biological structures. Bone-mPACT+ and four different decalcifying procedures were tested for their ability to improve bone tissue clearing efficiency without sacrificing optical transparency; they rendered nearly all types of bone tissues transparent. Both mouse and rat bones were nearly transparent after the clearing process. We also present a further modification, the Bone-mPACT+ Advance protocol, which is specifically optimized for processing the largest and hardest rat bones for easy clearing and imaging using established tissue clearing methods.

The effects of Gami-Jeonggi-San (GJS) on proliferation of human endothelial cell (HUV-EC-C) were investigated using a flow cytometry and a quantitative RT-PCR analysis of gene expression. An accumulation of cells at G_(1) phase of the cell cycle was found at 72h after treatment (10 μl/ml) while no detectable reduction of PCNA expression was recognized. To elucidate that the cell cycle inhibitory effect of GJS stems from its capability of transcriptional regulation of the cell cycle-controlling genes, we investigated mRNA expression of p53, Waf1, PCNA, Cyclin D1, Cdc2, Histone H3, c-Myc, and c-Fos. Significantly elevated mRNA levels of the p53 tumor suppressor gene and its down-stream mediator gene, Waf1, whose increased expressions were known to trigger G_(1) cell cycle arrest, were observed. In contrast, a marked reduction of two early G_(1)-specific, cell cycle stimulating genes, c-Myc and c-Fos, were found at 24h after treatment, while there were no detectable changes in expressions of G_(1)-S or G_(2)-M transition-related genes, indicating the G_(1) specificity of GJS effect on the cell cycle. These results suggest that the pharmacological effects of GJS might be derived in part from inhibition of cellular proliferation of human endothelial cells, and that GJS inhibition of the cell cycle might stem from its regulatory capability on the transcription of the cell cycle-controlling genes, including p53 and Waf1 tumor suppressor genes.
