A strain of Bacillus thuringiensis that showed significantly high toxicity to Plutella xylostella was isolated from a dust sample collected from Chinese tobacco warehouse and characterized. The isolate named B. thuringiensis LY-99 was determined to belong to subsp. alesti (H3a3c) by an H antisera agglutination test and produced bipyramidal inclusions. Plasmid and crystal protein patterns of the LY-99 were different from those of the reference strain, subsp. alesti. PCR analysis with specific primers revealed that this isolate contained abundant cry genes including cry1Aa, cry1Ac, cry1B, cry1D, cry1E, cry1F and cry2 genes, which was absolutely different from cry gene profile of the subsp. alesti. In addition, insecticidal activity of the LY-99 against P. xylostella larvae was about 44 times higher than that of the subsp. alesti.

Resource allocation based on quantized feedback plays a critical role in wireless mesh networks with a time division multiple access (TDMA) physical layer. In this study, a resource allocation problem was formulated based on quantized feedback for TDMA wireless mesh networks that minimize the total transmission power. Three steps were taken to solve the optimization problem. In the first step, the codebook of the power, rate and equivalent channel quantization threshold was designed. In the second step, the timeslot allocation criterion was deduced using the primal-dual method. In the third step, a resource allocation scheme was developed based on quantized feedback using the stochastic optimization tool. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme not only reduces the total transmission power, but also has the advantage of quantized feedback.

We study the unpolarized cross sections for the endothermic nonresonant reactions, ππ → ρρ forI = 2, KK → K∗K∗for I = 1, KK∗ → K∗K∗for I = 1, πK → ρK∗for I = 3/2, πK∗ → ρK∗for I = 3/2, ρK → ρK∗for I = 3/2, and πK∗ → ρK for I = 3/2, which take place in hadronicmatter. We obtain the temperature-dependent meson masses from the Schr¨odinger equation withthe potential that is given by perturbative quantum chromodynamics (QCD) with loop correctionsat short distances, that becomes a distance-independent and temperature-dependent potential atlong distances, and that has a spin-spin interaction with relativistic modifications. In the first Bornapproximation with the quark-interchange mechanism, the temperature dependences of the potential, the meson masses, and the mesonic quark-antiquark wave functions bring about a temperaturedependence of the unpolarized cross sections for the seven nonresonant reactions. Noticeably, rapidchanges in the π and K radii cause a rapid increase in peak cross sections, except for the πK∗ → ρKcross section, as the temperature approaches a critical temperature. Compared to in-vacuum crosssections, the medium modifications of the cross sections are remarkable.

B. thuringiensis strain LY-99 belonging to subsp. Alesti (H3a3c), was isolated from Chinese tobacco warehouse and showed significantly high toxicity to Plutella xylostella. For the identification of the cry1-type genes from B. thuringiensis LY-99, an extended multiplex PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method was established by using two pairs of universal primers based on the conserved regions of the cry1-type genes to amplify around 2.4 kb cry1-type gene fragments. Then the DNA fragment was cloned into pGEM-T Easy vector and digested with EcoRI and EcoRV enzymes. Through this method, a known cry1-type gene was successfully identified from the reference strain, B. thuringiensis subsp. alesti. In addition, the RFLP patterns revealed that B. thuringiensis LY-99 included a novel cry1A-type gene in addition to cry1Aa, cry1Ac, cry1Be and cry1Ea genes. The novel cry1A-type gene was designated cry1Ah2 (Genbank accession No DQ269474). An inverse PCR method was used to amplify the flank regions of cry1Ah2 gene. Finally, 3143 bp HindIII fragment from B. thuringiensis LY-99 plasmid DNA including 5` region and partial ORF was amplified, and sequence analysis revealed that cry1Ah2 gene from LY-99 showed 89.31% of maximum sequence similarity with cry1Ac1 crystal protein gene. In addition, the deduced amino acid sequence of Cry1Ah2 protein shared 87.80% of maximum identity with that of Cry1Ac2. This protein therefore belongs to a new class of B. thuringiensis crystal proteins.
DTSTM: Dynamic Tree Style Trust Measurement Model for Cloud Computing
( Zhen-ji Zhou ),( Li-fa Wu ),( Zheng Hong ),( Ming-fei Xu ),( Fan Pan ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2014 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.8 No.1
In cloud computing infrastructure, current virtual machine trust measurement methods have many shortcomings in dynamism, security and concurrency. In this paper, we present a new method to measure the trust of virtual machine. Firstly, we propose “behavior trace” to describe the state of virtual machine. Behavior trace is a sequence of behaviors. The measurement of behavior trace is conducted on the basis of anticipated trusted behavior, which not only ensures security of the virtual machine during runtime stage but also reduces complexity of the trust measurement. Based on the behavior trace, we present a Dynamic Tree Style Trust Measurement Model (DTSTM). In this model, the measurement of system domain and user domain is separated, which enhances the extensibility, security and concurrency of the measurement. Finally, based on System Call Interceptor (SCI) and Virtual Machine Introspection (VMI) technology, we implement a DTSTM prototype system for virtual machine trust measurement. Experimental results demonstrate that the system can effectively verify the trust of virtual machine and requires a relatively low performance overhead.
Case Report : Coexistence of Pancreatic Carcinoma and Pancreatic Tuberculosis: Case Report
( Zhen Jiang Zheng ),( Hao Zhang ),( Guang Ming Xiang ),( Jun Gong ),( Gang Mai ),( Xu Bao Liu ) 대한간학회 2011 Gut and Liver Vol.5 No.4
Pancreatic tuberculosis (TB) is extremely rare and mimics pancreatic carcinoma both clinically and radiologically. This paper discusses the occurrence of 2 heterogeneous masses located in the head and tail of the pancreas in an adult male. In this patient, laparotomy was performed because of the high suspicion of pancreatic carcinoma. Intraoperative fine needle aspiration biopsy revealed the coexistence of pancreatic carcinoma with pancreatic TB, and a combined resection of the distal pancreas and spleen was successfully performed. Following surgery, the patient received standard chemotherapy for TB. At 7-month follow-up, computed tomography showed resolution of the mass in the pancreatic head. Clinicians must maintain a high index of suspicion for pancreatic TB in patients with pancreatic masses. The coexistence of malignancy and TB should be considered when patients present with multiple pancreatic masses. (Gut Liver 2011;5:536-538)

Objective: The PI3K/PTEN/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway has been implicated in resistance to cisplatin. In the current study, we determined whether common genetic variations in this pathway are associated with platinum-based chemotherapy response and clinical outcome in advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients. Methods: Seven common single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in core genes of this pathway were genotyped in 199 patients and analyzed for associations with chemotherapy response, progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). Results: Logistic regression analysis revealed an association between AKT1 rs2494752 and response to treatment. Patients carrying heterozygous AG had an increased risk of disease progression after two cycles of platinum-based chemotherapy compared to those with AA genotype (Adjusted odds ratio (OR)=2.18, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.00-4.77, which remained significant in the stratified analyses). However, log-rank test and cox regression detected no association between these polymorphisms in the PI3K pathway genes and survival in advanced NSCLC patients. Conclusions: Our findings suggest that genetic variants in the PI3K/PTEN/AKT/mTOR pathway may predict platinum-based chemotherapy response in advanced NSCLC patients in a Chinese population.

Pancreatic panniculitis is a rare type of disorder associated with pancreatic diseases. We describe here a case of 54-year-old man who was admitted to the Department of Dermatology with the diagnosis of erythema nodosum. The patient presented with a 9-month history of painful erythematous nodules on the extremities, joint pain and swelling, and weight loss. A highly elevated level of pancreatic lipase was found on the laboratory examinations. The biopsy specimens from the skin lesions showed subcutaneous fat necrosis. Abdominal computed tomography (CT) revealed a large mass with central necrosis in the body and tail of the pancreas. Distal pancreatectomy, splenectomy and partial transverse colectomy were successfully performed on day 17 of the hospitalization. The histopathologic findings supported the diagnosis of acinar cell carcinoma of the pancreas (ACCP). Postoperatively, the level of serum lipase returned to normal, and the skin lesions and joint manifestations gradually regressed. However, the swelling did not significantly resolve in the left knee. In view of the non-specific clinical presentation of this disease, clinicians should be alert and have a high index of suspicion for pancreatic panniculitis. (Ann Dermatol 23(2) 225∼228, 2011)
