Studying Adipose Tissue in the Breast Tumor Microenvironment In Vitro: Progress and Opportunities

Background: The breast cancer microenvironment contains a variety of stromal cells that are widely implicated in worse patient outcomes. While many in vitro models of the breast tumor microenvironment have been published, only a small fraction of these feature adipocytes. Adipocytes are a cell type increasingly recognized to have complex functions in breast cancer. Methods: In this review, we examine findings from recent examples of in vitro experiments modeling adipocytes within the local breast tumor microenvironment. Results: Both two-dimensional and three-dimensional models of adipocytes in the breast tumor microenvironment are covered in this review and both have uncovered interesting phenomena related to breast tumor progression. Conclusion: Certain aspects of breast cancer and associated adipocyte biology: extracellular matrix effects, cell-cell contact, and physiological mass transport can only be examined with a three-dimensional culture platform. Opportunities remain for innovative improvements to be made to in vitro models that further increase what is known about adipocytes during breast cancer progression.

NLMC분류표는 의학 교육의 지원을 위한 자료들을 조직화 하기 위해서 개발된, 그리고 약학과 약물학을 포함하는 정보자료를 분류하기 위해서 미국에서 가장 널리 사용되었던 초기의 분류표들로부터 기본적인 아이디어를 사용해서 1946년에 개발되었다. 본 연구의 목적은 MLMC의 구조가 약제학적 문헌을 어떻게 적응시키고 그 타당성을 경정하는지를 검토하고자 하는 것이다. 필자는 서지적 기록을 가지고 1,979종의 단행본에 매겨진 NLMC분류번호를 분석하였다. 이 분석한 결과는 NLMC의 구조가 하위류(sub-class) QV701-835에 있어서 해당 문헌의 42%를 한데 모은 한편 나머지의 41%는 NLMC분류표 전체를 통해서 분산되는 것으로 나타났다. 추가로 17%는 LCC로 분류되었다.

Abiotic and biotic stress conditions cause extensive losses to maize production, mainly due to protein dysfunction in these condi-tions. In higher plants, the occurrence of heat-shock proteins (HSPs) in response to different environmental stresses is a universal phenomenon and has been well documented. Many studies have demonstrated that most HSPs are involved in many regulatory path-ways, act as molecular chaperones for other cell proteins, and have strong cytoprotective effects. Although many functional roles for HSPs are known, the mechanisms for these multiple functions are not entirely understood. Here we reviewed the correlation among HSP genes/proteins and plant tolerance, especially maize, in different environmental stresses. Due to the low availability of informa-tion regarding the expression of HSP genes in response to different stresses in maize, we decided to mine databases in order to gener-ate ew insights related to this topic.
Laser Ablation of Biological Material Using Focused and Pulsed Laser Beam

There are advantages in both cutting speed and reduction in thermal damage to adjacent tissue in using focused laser beams and pulse which are short compared to a thermal time constant. Theoretical calculations are presented which indicate the extent of these advantages for both the Argon and CO_2 lasers, along with a few initial experimental results for the CO_2 laser.

Background: The global COVID-19 pandemic has prompted an urgent search for effective interventions. SARS-CoV-2 mortality/morbidity risk increases with age and for those chronic disease co-morbidities, both of which are associated with lower zinc status, as is the risk of infection. Methods: Rapid review methods will be applied to a systematic review of zinc for the prevention or treatment of SARS-CoV-2 and viral respiratory tract infections in humans. Included are published studies reporting randomised and quasi-randomised controlled trials that compare zinc intervention to placebo and/or other comparator interventions. English and Chinese language databases will be searched for primary studies of viral respiratory tract infections and clinical trial registries for SARS-CoV-2 infections. Due to concerns about indirectness, studies evaluating non-SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infections will be rated down by one level, and non-specific or confirmed non-coronavirus viral infections will be rated down by two levels. Review constraints include (1) using Google translate when screening articles published in languages other than English or Chinese and limited translation (2) following calibration, only one reviewer will screen articles, extract data, appraise quality and conduct the analysis, (3) prioritising data extraction and meta-analyses of SARS-CoV-2 studies and critical outcomes of other viral infections, followed by high risk groups and (4) reporting important preliminary findings prior to peer review if necessary. Discussion: The application of these rapid review methods and broadening the inclusion criteria to include other coronavirus-related viral respiratory tract infections aims to enable a timely evidence appraisal of priority research questions and dissemination of results.
