Radiotherapy combined with immunotherapy could improve the immune infiltration of melanoma in mice and enhance the abscopal effect

        Yufeng Zheng(Yufeng Zheng),Xue Liu(Xue Liu),Na Li(Na Li),Aimei Zhao(Aimei Zhao),Zhiqiang Sun(Zhiqiang Sun),Meihua Wang(Meihua Wang),Judong Luo(Judong Luo) 대한방사선종양학회 2023 Radiation Oncology Journal Vol.41 No.2

Purpose: To analyze the gene mutation, immune infiltration and tumor growth of primary tumor and distant tumor under different treatment modes. Materials and Methods: Twenty B16 murine melanoma cells were injected subcutaneously into the of both sides of the thigh, simulating a primary tumor and a secondary tumor impacted by the abscopal effect, respectively. They were divided into blank control group, immunotherapy group, radiotherapy group, and radiotherapy combined immunotherapy group. During this period, tumor volume was measured, and RNA sequencing was performed on tumor samples after the test. R software was used to analyze differentially expressed genes, functional enrichment, and immune infiltration. Results: We found that any treatment mode could cause changes in differentially expressed genes, especially the combination treatment. The different therapeutic effects might be caused by gene expression. In addition, the proportions of infiltrating immune cells in the irradiated and abscopal tumors were different. In the combination treatment group, T-cell infiltration in the irradiated site was the most obvious. In the immunotherapy group, CD8+ T-cell infiltration in the abscopal tumor site was obvious, but immunotherapy alone might have a poor prognosis. Whether the irradiated or abscopal tumor was evaluated, radiotherapy combined with anti-programmed cell death protein 1 (anti-PD-1) therapy produced the most obvious tumor control and might have a positive impact on prognosis. Conclusion: Combination therapy not only improves the immune microenvironment but may also have a positive impact on prognosis.

Coprime Representations and Feedback Stabilization of Discrete Time-varying Linear Systems

Liu Liu,Yufeng Lu 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2019 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.17 No.2

Within the framework of nest algebra, this paper deals with the stabilization problems of causal, discretetime, time-varying linear systems based on the coprime representations. It is shown that a linear system is stabilizableif and only if it admits a left coprime representation or a right coprime representation. The parametrizationof stabilizing controllers, strong stabilizability and simultaneous stabilizability criteria are characterized in terms ofleft coprime representations alone, or analogously right coprime representations alone.

Application of galactinol to tomato enhances tolerance to cold and heat stresses

        Liu Yudong,Zhang Li,Ma Jian,Meng Sida,Pang Chunpeng,Zhao Xiaomeng,Zhang Huidong,Wang Shou,Xu Tao,He Yi,Liu Yufeng,Qi Mingfang 한국원예학회 2022 Horticulture, Environment, and Biotechnology Vol.63 No.3

Galactinol, a galactosyl donor, is the key substrate in raffinose family oligosaccharide (RFO) biosynthesis pathways. Many studies proved that galactinol also regulates some defense-related genes to be transcribed as a sugar signal under biotic and abiotic stresses. There are four galactinol synthase (SlGolS) genes in tomato. In this study, SlGolS1, SlGolS2, and SlGolS4 responded to cold stress, especially SlGolS1 stems treated for 12 h and SlGolS4 stems treated for 24 h. Under heat stress, the expression levels of SlGolS1, SlGolS2, and SlGolS3, especially SlGolS1 and SlGolS2, increased in leaves, roots, and stems. When expressed in E. coli cells, SlGolS2 and SlGolS4 enhanced cold tolerance, whereas SlGolS1 and SlGolS3 improved heat tolerance. These results suggested that SlGolS family members played different roles in tolerance to cold and heat stresses. In addition, the application of galactinol or galactinol + α-galactosidase inhibitor (DGJ) improved the cold and heat tolerances of tomato plants, whereas the single application of DGJ had no effect. Interestingly, the applications of DGJ, galactinol, and galactinol + DGJ also affected the expression levels of SlRS, SlSTS, and SlAGAL under cold and heat stresses. These findings indicated that galactinol was involved in the biosynthesis pathways of RFOs as a galactosyl donor and regulated the expression levels of RFO biosynthesis and breakdown-related genes as a sugar signal under cold and heat stresses.

Compound control strategy for maximum power point tracking with flexible step-up converters for thin film photovoltaic module applications

Liu, Yuhang,Liu, Xiangxin,Zhang, Jianwei,Zhang, Yufeng,Liu, Guangchen The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2021 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.21 No.9

This paper proposes a novel maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm for a thin-film photovoltaic (PV) module with a flexible step-up DC-DC converter. To improve the voltage rating for the thin film module, a switch-inductor zero voltage transition (SIZVT) boost converter is proposed. In addition, the proposed methodology uses a multistage variable step size (MVSS) with a power close-loop control strategy (PCLC) for MPPT. The corresponding performances are compared with the classical fixed step size (FSS) algorithm and the conventional variable step size (CVSS) algorithm. Simulation results in MATLAB/Simulink and experimental tests with a 240 W prototype validate the proposed algorithm under a variety of conditions.

A Braking Force Distribution Strategy for Four-in-Wheel-Motor-Driven Electric Vehicles on Roads with Different Friction Coefficients

        Lian Yufeng,Liu Shuaishi,Zhongbo Sun,Liu Keping,Nie Zhigen,Tian Chongwen 한국자동차공학회 2021 International journal of automotive technology Vol.22 No.4

This paper presents an active collision avoidance system based on a braking force distribution strategy for four-in-wheel-motor-driven electric vehicles (FIWMD-EVs) on roads with different friction coefficients. There are three major contributions in the proposed braking force distribution strategy. Firstly, the braking force distribution strategy based on constrained regenerative braking strength continuity (CRBSC) is further improved, and its general analytic expressions are derived. It provides the theoretical basis of braking force distribution between front and rear wheels. Secondly, the braking forces between front and rear wheels can be redistributed by considering power demand efficiency (PDE) to protect energy storage system from overcharge. Finally, the braking forces between left and right wheels can be distributed with different adhesion coefficients to adapt to complex roads. Simulations using rapid control prototyping (RCP) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulator are performed to demonstrate the effectiveness of control scheme and adaptability of the active collision avoidance system based on the proposed braking force distribution strategy on complex roads.

Thermal Oxidation of WSe2 Nanosheets Adhered on SiO2/Si Substrates

        Liu, Yingnan,Tan, Cheng,Chou, Harry,Nayak, Avinash,Wu, Di,Ghosh, Rudresh,Chang, Hsiao-Yu,Hao, Yufeng,Wang, Xiaohan,Kim, Joon-Seok,Piner, Richard,Ruoff, Rodney S.,Akinwande, Deji,Lai, Keji American Chemical Society 2015 NANO LETTERS Vol.15 No.8

<P>Because of the drastically different intralayer versus interlayer bonding strengths, the mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties of two-dimensional (2D) materials are highly anisotropic between the in-plane and out-of-plane directions. The structural anisotropy may also play a role in chemical reactions, such as oxidation, reduction, and etching. Here, the composition, structure, and electrical properties of mechanically exfoliated WSe2 nanosheets on SiO2/Si substrates were studied as a function of the extent of thermal oxidation. A major component of the oxidation, as indicated from optical and Raman data, starts from the nanosheet edges and propagates laterally toward the center. Partial oxidation also occurs in certain areas at the surface of the flakes, which are shown to be highly conductive by microwave impedance microscopy. Using secondary ion mass spectroscopy, we also observed extensive oxidation at the WSe2–SiO2 interface. The combination of multiple microcopy methods can thus provide vital information on the spatial evolution of chemical reactions on 2D materials and the nanoscale electrical properties of the reaction products.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/nalefd/2015/nalefd.2015.15.issue-8/acs.nanolett.5b02069/production/images/medium/nl-2015-02069p_0005.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/nl5b02069'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>

Commutativity and hyponormality of Toeplitz operators on the weighted Bergman space

        Yufeng Lu,Chaomei Liu 대한수학회 2009 대한수학회지 Vol.46 No.3

In this paper we give necessary and sufficient conditions that two Toeplitz operators with monomial symbols acting on the weighted Bergman space commute. We also present necessary and sufficient conditions for the hyponormality of Toeplitz operators with some special symbols on the weighted Bergman space. All the results are stated in terms of the Mellin transform of the symbol. Production of Recombinant Human Papillomavirus Type 52 L1 Protein in Hansenula polymorpha Formed Virus-Like Particles

Liu, Cunbao,Yao, Yufeng,Yang, Xu,Bai, Hongmei,Huang, Weiwei,Xia, Ye,Ma, Yanbing The Korean Society for Microbiology and Biotechnol 2015 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.25 No.6

Human papillomavirus (HPV) type 52 is a high-risk HPV responsible for cervical cancer. HPV type 52 is common around the world and is the most common in some Asian regions. The available prophylactic HPV vaccines protect only from HPV types 16 and 18. Supplementing economical vaccines that target HPV type 52 may satisfactorily complement available prophylactic vaccines. A codon-adapted HPV 52 L1 gene was expressed in the methylotrophic yeast Hansenula polymorpha, which is used as an industrial platform for economical hepatitis B surface antigen particle production in China. We found that the recombinant proteins produced in this expression system could form virus-like particles (VLPs) with diameters of approximately 50 nm. This study suggests that the HPV 52 VLPs produced in this platform may satisfactorily complement available prophylactic vaccines in fighting against HPVs prevalent in Asia.

Throughput and Delay of Single-Hop and Two-Hop Aeronautical Communication Networks

Yufeng Wang,Mustafa Cenk Ertürk,Jinxing Liu,나인호,산카,Salvatore Morgera 한국통신학회 2015 Journal of communications and networks Vol.17 No.1

Aeronautical communication networks (ACN) is an emerging concept in which aeronautical stations (AS) are considered as a part of multi-tier network for the future wireless communication system. An AS could be a commercial plane, helicopter, or any other low orbit station, i.e., Unmanned air vehicle, high altitude platform. The goal of ACN is to provide high throughput and cost effective communication network for aeronautical applications (i.e., Air traffic control (ATC), air traffic management (ATM) communications, and commercial in-flight Internet activities), and terrestrial networks by using aeronautical platforms as a backbone. In this paper, we investigate the issues about connectivity, throughput, and delay in ACN. First, topology of ACN is presented as a simple mobile ad hoc network and connectivity analysis is provided. Then, by using information obtained fromconnectivity analysis, we investigate two communication models, i.e., single-hop and two-hop, in which each source AS is communicating with its destination AS with or without the help of intermediate relay AS, respectively. In our throughput analysis, we use the method of finding the maximum number of concurrent successful transmissions to derive ACN throughput upper bounds for the two communication models. We conclude that the two-hop model achieves greater throughput scaling than the single-hop model for ACN and multihop models cannot achieve better throughput scaling than two-hop model. Furthermore, since delay issue is more salient in two-hop communication, we characterize the delay performance and derive the closed-form average end-to-end delay for the two-hop model. Finally, computer simulations are performed and it is shown that ACN is robust in terms of throughput and delay performances.
