      • The Experimental Practices of VoIP Based on the Commercial Softswitch Device

        A softswitch is the central device of the next-generation network (NGN) which is the hotspot in telecommunication industry. So it’s of great significance for the students and related companies to carry out practical experiments and researches based on the commercial softswitch device. Three stage targets of the VoIP, from the elementary to the profound, are proposed according to the characters of the softswitch teaching. The hardware and the software queuing system of the NGN laboratory of Harbin University of Science and Technology, which was designed and built for the targets, are introduced. Students can be queued for experiments with commercial VoIP devices in the NGN laboratory. Three categories of experiments, IP to IP, IP to Phone, and Softphone application development, are designed to cultivate innovative talents.

      • Extraskeletal Ewing Sarcomas in Late Adolescence and Adults: A Study of 37 Patients

        Background: Extraskeletal Ewing sarcoma (EES)/primitive neuroectodermal tumours (PNET) are rare soft tissue sarcomas. Prognostic factors and optimal therapy are still unconfirmed. Materials and Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis on patients to explore the clinic characteristics and prognostic factors of this rare disease. A total of 37 patients older than 15 years referred to our institute from Jan., 2002 to Jan., 2012 were reviewed. The characteristics, treatment and outcome were collected and analyzed. Results: The median age was 28 years (range 15-65); the median size of primary tumours was 8.2 cm (range 2-19). Sixteen patients (43%) had metastatic disease at the initial presentation. Wide surgical margins were achieved in 14 cases (38%). Anthracycline or platinum-based chemotherapy was performed on 29 patients (74%). Radiotherapy was delivered in 13 (35%). At a median follow-up visit of 24 months (range 2-81), the media event-free survival (EFS) and overall survival (OS) were 15.8 and 30.2 months, respectively. The 3-year EFS and OS rates were 24% and 43%, respectively. Metastases at presentation and wide surgical margins were significantly associated with OS and EFS. Tumour size was significantly associated with OS but not EFS. There were no significant differences between anthracycline and platinum based chemotherapy regarding EFS and OS. Conclusions: EES/PNET is a malignant tumour with high recurrence and frequent distant metastasis. Multimodality therapy featuring wide surgical margins, aggressive chemotherapy and adjuvant local radiotherapy is necessary for this rare disease. Platinum-based chemotherapy can be used as an adjuvant therapy.

      • A PSTN Terminal for FSK Decoding and DTMF Dialing Applications

        To realize Frequency Shift Keying (FSK) decoding and Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency (DTMF) dialing, a novel hardware and software solution is presented. These two signals are used to receive or send messages respectively in this solution which can meet different requirements of many Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) applications. The hardware used CPC5622 as the phone line interface Data access arrangement (DAA), HT9032D as the FSK decoder, and C8051f120 as the DTMF generator and system controller. The software, mainly composed of DTMF dialing and FSK decoding subprograms, was written and debugged with the hardware and finally succeeded to realize the terminal. The results performed under Huawei C&C08 switch show that the terminal can realize dialing by encoding standard DTMF signals and extracting the caller's information from the standard FSK signals in the PSTN. The CPC5622 as well as C8051f120 has some free Inputs, outputs, and other hardware resources, which make the PSTN terminal scalable and available to a variety of PSTN devices and applications.

        Effect of Mechanical Alloying and Sintering Behavior on the Microstructure and Properties of NbMoTaWRe Refractory High Entropy Alloy

        An equiatomic refractory high-entropy alloy (RHEA) NbMoTaWRe is prepared by mechanical alloying (MA) and sparkplasma sintering (SPS). The effects of mechanical alloying and sintering behaviors on the microstructure and propertiesof the RHEA are investigated. After ball-milling for 30 h, the metastable and supersaturated MA powders with the bodycenteredcubic (BCC) structure are obtained. Then, the MA powders are sintered using the SPS method under the sinteringtemperature range of 1700–1900 °C, and the C atoms and WC introduced by the MA process reacts with the metastable andsupersaturated Ta/Nb phase of the MA powers to form the face-centered cubic (FCC) structure (Nb, Ta)C particles alongthe BCC matrix boundaries during the SPS process. The NbMoTaWRe alloy sintered at 1800 °C consisted of BCC matrixand FCC-type (Nb, Ta)C particles has high compactness (porosity fraction is 0.32%), fracture strength (2630 MPa), plasticstrain (6.82%), and hardness (992 ± 20 HV). These excellent properties of this RHEA are mainly attributed to the combinationof multi-effects, including sintering densification, grain refinement strengthening from the refined sizes (3.80 μm) BCCmatrix, precipitation strengthening from the (Nb, Ta)C particles, solid solution strengthening from multi-principal elementsand interstitial solid solution strengthening from C atoms dissolving into BCC matrix.

      • Exposure to Occupational Hazards and Health Status of Male Nurses:A Cross-Sectional Study

        Aim(s): Occupational hazards exist in health sectors include occupational infections with SARS-CoV-2, skin disorders from prolonged use of personal protective equipment, psychological stress, fatigue and workplace violence. Exposure to occupational hazards puts healthcare workers at risk of disease, injury and even death in the response of the COVID-19 pandemic. So this study aims to obtain the occupational hazards and health status in COVID-19 pandemic among male nurses. Method(s): A cross-sectional study was conducted at Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province in Northern China. A total of 2,879 male nurses were included in the study. The tool of risk index of occupational hazard was administered to all nurses. The tool is a self-reported scale which consists of 29 items and is rated according to 5-point Likert scale (1 = very low / negligible to 5 = frequent / severe). A total individual and dimension index will be calculated ranging from 0 to 1 and the higher the index, the greater the risk of exposure to occupational hazard. The Cronbach’s α was 0.95. Result(s): A total of 2879 male nurses from Beijing (N=824), Tianjin (N=578) and Hebei Province (N=1477) participated in the study. Mean age of the male nurses was 28.96 years, while most of them were married (52.9%), bachelor’ degree (51.0%), from tertiary hospitals (66.9%) and general hospital (77.3%). The prevalence of sleep disorders in male nurses was 54.0%, followed by anxiety (45.0%), gastritis (28.4%), lumbar disc herniation (27.1%), cervical spondylosis (24.9%), depression (18.80%), lower limb varicose veins (18.3%), hypertension (16.7%), coronary heart disease (3.2%), diabetes (3.2%), asthma (2.2%), and tumor (0.8%). Finally, there was regional differences in the prevalence of sleep disorders, anxiety, gastritis, lumbar disc herniation, cervical spondylosis, depression, lower limb varicose veins, hypertension, diabetes, coronary heart disease in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province. The risk-index of being exposed in psychosocial hazards was 0.28, followed by physical hazards (0.20), chemical hazards (0.18), biological hazards (0.17) and accidental hazards (0.12). From the first to tenth highest individual risk-index of occupational hazards, seven of them belong to the dimension of psychological hazards. Conclusion(s): Male nurses are faced with various occupational hazards in the workplace, among which psychosocial hazards ranked first. Sleep disorder, anxiety and other psychological problems are common in male nurses. Male nurses also suffer from gastritis, lumbar disc herniation, cervical spondylosis and other health problems. Male nurses play a vital role in caring for patients, especially the severe patients. Therefore, the hospital should pay more attention to the occupational health of male nurses.

      • Research on the Formation Mechanism of Shear Zone in the Neogene Mudstone Landslide

        The shear zone is the main control factor for the translational and rotational landslides.Different geometric forms of landslides were selected to analyze the process of structural change and the mechanical mechanisms of the bedding-parallel shear zone in Neogen period mudstones. The results show that there are weak layers, with high clay content, in translational landslides and rotational-translational landslides, such as those with bedding-parallel shear zone, while rotational landslides are composed of homogeneous material. The bedding-parallel shear zone can be divided into two parts: the main shear zone and the secondary shear zone. The main shear zone has an S-C fabric, the C plane has a strong scratch, and the S plane develops in high plastic mudstones. The clay contents of the main shear zone in a bedding-parallel sliding zone are greater than 50%, while the absolute content of minerals mixed with illite and montmorillonite exceeds to 20%. Creep and rapid slip are the main forms of structural deformation of the shear zone. Creep deformation mainly develops in the sliding zone with high amounts of clay particles; the microstructural adjustment of the slip zone shows no crack expansion and the clay minerals are a viscous flow. Progressive creep induced by water pressure and gravity will cause the acceleration of the creep and rapid sliding. Rapid sliding deformation, which is due to repeated shear, occurs along the fixed shear fracture-surface.

        Stability Evaluation and Improvement of Adaptive Optics Systems by Using the Lyapunov Stability Approach

        In this research, investigations on the closed-loop control stability of adaptive optics systems are conducted by using the Lyapunov approach. As an direct metric of the control stability, the error propagator includes the effects of both the integral gain and the influence matrix and is effective for control-stability evaluation. An experimental 97-element AO system is developed for the control-stability investigation, and the Southwell sensor-actuator configuration rather than the Fried geometry is adopted so as to suppress the potential waffle mode. Because filtering out small singular values of the influence matrix can be used to improve the control stability, the effect of the influence matrix and the effect of the integral gain are considered as a whole by using the error propagator. Then, the control stability of the AO system is evaluated for varying the integral gains and the number of filtered-out singular values. Afterwards, an analysis of the evaluations of the error propagator is made, and a conclusion can be drawn that the control stability can be improved by filtering out more singular values of the influence matrix when the integral gain is high. In other words, the error propagator is useful for trading off the bandwidth error and the fitting error of AO systems in a control-stability approach. Finally, a performance measurement of the experimental AO system is conducted when 13 smaller singular values of the influence matrix are filtered out, and the results show that filtering out a small fraction of the singular values has a minor influence on the performance of this AO system.

        Effect of the reaction temperature on nanocrystallites MgAl2O4 spinel ceramic precursor

        Mg-Al hydrotalcite (Mg6Al2(OH)16CO3·4H2O), the precursor of MgAl2O4 spinel, has been synthesized via a coprecipitation method, using AlCl3·6H2O and MgCl2·6H2O as the raw materials, and NaOH and Na2CO3 as the precipitators. The effect of the reaction temperature, from 50℃ to 90℃, on the Mg-Al hydrotalcite nanocrystallites was analyzed. The nanocrystallites were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). It was confirmed that Mg-Al hydrotalcite nanocrystallites are pure and regularly hexagonal, having a typical hydrotalcite structure. The Mg-Al hydrotalcite crystals grow from about 30 nm to 100 nm with an increase in the reaction temperature from 50℃ to 90 ℃, and the crystal form also tends to perfect and regularly hexagonal.
