Dental Caries which has high prevalence rate, accounts for majority of dental diseases. Many treatment and preventive treatment has been developed, thereby reducing the prevalence rate, but in our country, flouridization has not spread widely yet, so prevention has not been done satisfactorily. When dental caries progresses, irreversible damage of tooth structure occurs. In initial dental caries. Demiteralized tooth structure can be remineralized, so restorative treatment is unnecessary. In the study, 20 teeth restored with composite resin without fluoride release were used and divided into two groups. Incipient dental caries were artificially made and remineralization procedure was done for 1 and 2 weeks, for each group. Changes in mineral contents aroud the margins were analysed with confocal laser scanning microscope. The results were as follow. 1.Both total fluorescence of the lesion and average fluorescence of the lesion of remineralized samples decreased compared to demineralized state. (p<0.01) 2.Confocal laser scanning microscopy can be used in quantitative analysis of mineral change. In result, confocal laser scanning microscopy can be used in quantitative analysis of mineral change and it could be used in many different fields of dentistry in the future. Key words : Confocal laser scanning microscopy. Demineralization. Remineralization, Initial dental caries

The effect of bench drying or removal of the periodontal ligament with NaOCl upon periodontal healing and root resorption after readaptation of molars was studied in rats. A total of 40 Sprague-Dawley female rats were used and fed a powdered puling rat chow diet containing 0.4% beta-aminoproprionitrile. The maxillary first molars were extracted and the periodontal ligaments were removed either by bench daring for 15 minutes or by immersion in 2.5% NaOC1 solution. The rats were sacrificed at 5, 10, and 21 days by heart infusion. In order to observe the effect of 0.5% stannous fluoride. 10-4M, 10-2M and 1M etidronate disodium on the early stage of periodontal healing. the periodontal ligament was removed Math 2.5% NaOCl followed by immersion of the molar in the respective solutions for 5 minutes. The rats were sacrificed after 10 days and the following results were obtained. 1.The removal of the periodontal ligament with 2.5% NaOCl seemed to be more effective than bench drying, since the resorption area in the NaOCl treated group showed a gradual increase whereas a decline in resorption area from 5 days to 21 days was observed in the bench dried group. 2.The application of 0.5% stannous fluoride seemed to enhance the periodontal ligament attachment and active migration of fibroblasts could be observed. 3.The application of 10-4M, 10-2M, and IM etidronate disodium led to a good periodontal ligament attachment. No evident areas of root resorption were found. 4.he use of β-APN made it possible to extract the maxillary first molar with all five roots intact.

Recently, the speed control of electric motorcar usually adapts the chopper control method by the development of power electronics and semiconductor manufacturing techniques. When the chooper control is adapted to the speed control of electric motorcar. D.C.series motor is mostly used because of the large starting torques and good control characteristics. But with respect to the economy, D.C. separately excited motor with shunt characteristics is profitable because of high adhesivesness and consumption. So, we compare the characteristics of the bilateral variable-ratio chopper controlled D.C. separately exited motor with that of the D.C. series motor theoretically and experimentally, and present the method which is able to simplify the main chopper circuit by selecting among the forward powering, forward regenerative braking, backward powering, and backward regenerative braking only by using the main chopper control signal. Also, control method is studied which has similar driving characteristics to that of the gasoline motorcar.

This study was carried out to investigate antimutagenic and cytotoxic effects of Korean traditional Mackjang added with sea tangle powder. The content percentage of most of minerals among general composition increased by adding sea tangle powder. By the Ames test, the antimutagenic effect of ethanol extract of Korean traditional Mackjang added with 5% sea tangle powder was strongest, exceeding the control, 10% and 15% sea tangle additions. The ethanol extract (400 ㎍/plate) of Mackjang added with 5% sea tangle powder in the S. typhimurium TA100 strain showed inhibition rate of 95.0% against the mutagencsis induced by MNNG. The inhibition rate of ethanol extract (400 ㎍/plate) of Mackjang added with 5% sea tangle powder in the S. typhimurium TA98 and TA100 strains was 81.4% and 88,8%, respectively, against the mutagencsis induced by 4NQO. Cinder the same conditions, the suppression against B(a)P and Trp-P-1 in the TA98 and TA100 strains were 85.3% and 91.0%, and 96.5% and 92.0%. respectively. For the anticancer effects, an investigation was done on the cytotoxicity of Mackjang added with 5% sea tangle powder on the cell lines with human lung carcinoma (A549), human hepatoeellular carcinoma (HepG2), and human gastric carcinoma (KATOIII). The cytotoxicities were inhibited with increasing the extract concentration. The treatment of 1.0 ㎎/mL Mackjang added with 5% sea tangle powder showed relatively strong cytotoxicity of 61.2%, 61.8% and 66.8% against A549, KATOIII, and HepG2, respectively.

Background: Soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) expressed by endothelial cells catalyzes the metabolism of epoxyeicosatrienoic acids (EETs), which are vasoactive agents. Methods: We used a unilateral ureteral obstruction mouse model of kidney fibrosis to determine whether inhibition of sEH activity reduces fibrosis, the final common pathway for chronic kidney disease. Results: sEH activity was inhibited by continuous release of the inhibitor 12-(3-adamantan-1-ylureido)-dodecanoic acid (AUDA) for 1 or 2 weeks. Treatment with AUDA significantly ameliorated tubulointerstitial fibrosis by reducing fibroblast mobilization and enhancing endothelial cell activity. In an in vitro model of endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EndMT) using human vascular endothelial cells (HUVECs), AUDA prevented the morphologic changes associated with EndMT and reduced expression of fibroblast-specific protein 1. Furthermore, HUVECs activated by AUDA prevented the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of tubular epithelial cells in a co-culture system. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that regulation of sEH is a potential target for therapies aimed at delaying the progression of kidney fibrosis by inhibiting EndMT and EMT.

Purpose: In outbreaks of infectious disease, medical students are easily overlooked in the management of healthcare personnel protection although they serve in clinical clerkships in hospitals. In the early summer of 2015, Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) struck South Korea, and students of Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine (SKKUSOM) were at risk of contracting the disease. The purpose of this report is to share SKKUSOM’s experience against the MERS outbreak and provide suggestions for medical schools to consider in the face of similar challenges. Methods: Through a process of reflection-on-action, we examined SKKUSOM’s efforts to avoid student infection during the MERS outbreak and derived a few practical guidelines that medical schools can adopt to ensure student safety in outbreaks of infectious disease. Results: The school leadership conducted ongoing risk assessment and developed contingency plans to balance student safety and continuity in medical education. They rearranged the clerkships to another hospital and offered distant lectures and tutorials. Five suggestions are extracted for medical schools to consider in infection outbreaks: instant cessation of clinical clerkships; rational decision making on a school closure; use of information technology; constant communication with hospitals; and open communication with faculty, staff, and students. Conclusion: Medical schools need to take the initiative and actively seek countermeasures against student infection. It is essential that medical schools keep constant communication with their index hospitals and the involved personnel. In order to assure student learning, medical schools may consider offering distant education with online technology.
