소아치과에 내원한 환아 중에서 치아의 수에 따른 이상을 많이 관찰할 수 있는데 그 중의 하나가 과잉치이다. 과잉치는 정상 치판 (dental lamina)의 과도한 증식의 결과로 발생되며 유치열에서 0.3~0.8%, 영구치열에서는 1.0~3.5%의 발생빈도를 보인다. 2 : 1로 남자에게 호발하고 9:1로 상악에 호발하며 구치부보다 전치부에 많이 발생한다. 가장 호발하는 것은 상악 정중 과잉치로 상악 중절치 사이에 위치하며 하악 전치부에서는 2%로 낮은 빈도를 보인다. 본 증례는 파노라마사진 촬영 결과 하악 좌우측 유중절치의 선천적 결손과 4개의 영구 절치외에 2개의 과잉치가전치부에 관찰되어 발치와 교정치료를 통해 양호한 결과를 얻게 되어 보고하는 바이다. Supernumerary tooth is one of the abnormalities in tooth number. Supernumerary tooth result from excessive proliferation of dental lamina and incidence reports identify a range of 0.3~0.8% in primary dentition, 1,0~3.5% in permanent dentition with males being affected twice as frequently as females, maxilla nine times as frequently as mandible. The incidence is more in anterior tooth region than in posterior region. The most common supernumerary tooth is the mesiodens, which located between maxillary central incisors. The occurrence is very rare in the incisor region of mandible and the reports on incidence is 2%. In this case, there were two supernumerary teeth in the mandibular region and we could acquire normal alignment of mandibular incisors by extraction and orthodontic treatment

Among the disposal techniques of inorganic wastewater sludges from industries, most of sludges were dealed with buring underground inefficiently. But we have tried to recycle the resources that exhausted inorganic sludges were properly blended to certain ratioes to make lightweight aggregate, that means manufacturing of it can be possible through blending of various components, drying, sintering, cooling and crushing to certain sizes that are needed by consumers. As disposal method of inorganic wastewater sludge is changed to environmentally fraternative method, this method could be very useful to make lightweight aggregates for decoration of building and the other so many purposes of those usages. That could be economically useful due to expected income for buring costs of ordinary disposal method from industries and sales income after manufacturing it. The second important profit is saving foreign currency from purchasing self-developed lightweight aggregate instead of importing expensive foreign product. This product will be also very impressive to user because of the fraternative lightweight to be composed of apatite structure that is important part of human body.
솔-젤법에 의한 Nb_2O_5-Fe_2O_3 혼합산화물의 제조 및 산 특성조사

In this study, some of results from a study conducted on the preparation of niobium coated hematite particles to be used as a catalyst are presented.α-Fe_2O_3 (hematite) particles obtained by aging an acidic solution of ferric(Ⅲ) ions at high temperature were first prepared as core particles and synthesised by hydrolysis at high temperature with layers of amorphous niobium pentaoxide (Nb_2O_5) deposited by the hydrolysis of niobium pentachloride. The effects of varying molecular ratio of Nb/Fe (10/1, 5/1, 1/2, 1/5, 1/10) were studied. The synthesised particles were characterized for their physical and chemical properties using XRD, SEM, TPD, BET etc. The process of the surface coating showed heterocoagulation rather than surface nucleation and growth. A preliminary investigation of the acidic characterization and specific surface area of the synthesised particles showed that these particles can achieve an acidic characteristic changed and enhanced specific surface area of that of pure niobia and α-Fe_2O_3 prepared here.

Background : Microvascular angina or syndrom X is heterogenous and encompasses different pathogenetic entities. Several studies suggest that microvascular angina have good prognosis and occurs predominantly in postmenopausal women. Lipoprotein (a), total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triglyceride, homocystein, CRP and fibrinogen are the independent risk factor of acute coronary syndrome and are the chief underlying cause of atherosclerosis. We investigated clinical characteristics and markers in patients with microvascular angina. Methods : We studies 23 patients diagnosed with microvascular angina and 16 control group with negative treadmill exercise test and no significant coronary angiogram. We investigated clinical characteristics in patients group and evaluated symptom during a follow-up period of 4.2± 2.5 month. Exercise time in treadmill exercise test was compared between patients and control group. We assessed the level of markers, such as lipoprotein (a), total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triglyceride, homocystein, CRP and ESR in two groups. Results : There is no difference in age between two groups. Patients group had a tendency to increase in female, hypertension, DM, and smoking history, but there was no statistical significance difference. Exercise duration time was significantly decreased in patients with microvascular angina (p<0,05). Serum lipoprotein (a), total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholestrol, Triglyceride, ESR, Fibrinogen and Homocystein value were no significant difference between microvascular angina and control group. Only CRP was significantly high in patients with microvascular angina (p<0.05). Conclusion : There was no statistical significance difference in age, sex, hypertension, DM and smoking history between two groups but patients group had a tendency to increase the prevalence in hypertension, DM and smoking history, female. Also, Symptom improvement and disappearance in follow-up was presented in 11 patients of 19(57.9%). Exercise tolerance was worse in patients group than control group. CRP value was significantly higher in patients group than control group. There was no statistical significance difference in lipoprotein (a), total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triglyceride, homocystein, ESR and Fibrinogen between two groups.

Pancreaticothoracic fistula is a rare complication of acute or chronic alcoholic pancreatitis. It may present with various symptoms, like dyspnea, abdominal pain, cough, chest pain, fever, back pain, hemoptysis, fatigue, or orthopnea. Pancreaticothoracic fistula can be detected by magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), or computed tomography. MRCP has high sensitivity and fewer side effects, and thus it has recently been recommended as the first choice for the detection of pancreaticothoracic fistula. On the other hand, ERCP enables the detection and treatment of pancreaticothoracic fistula and allows for stent insertion; for this reason it is a commonly used modality in pancreaticothoracic fistula cases. Herein, the authors describe a case of pancreaticothoracic fistula detected by ERCP and MRCP that manifested only respiratory symptoms, namely hemoptysis and pneumothorax without abdominal pain, which commonly accompanies pancreatitis.
Amine-modified single-walled carbon nanotubes protect neurons from injury in a rat stroke model

<P>Stroke results in the disruption of tissue architecture and is the third leading cause of death in the United States. Transplanting scaffolds containing stem cells into the injured areas of the brain has been proposed as a treatment strategy, and carbon nanotubes show promise in this regard, with positive outcomes when used as scaffolds in neural cells and brain tissues. Here, we show that pretreating rats with amine-modified single-walled carbon nanotubes can protect neurons and enhance the recovery of behavioural functions in rats with induced stroke. Treated rats showed less tissue damage than controls and took longer to fall from a rotating rod, suggesting better motor functions after injury. Low levels of apoptotic, angiogenic and inflammation markers indicated that amine-modified single-walled carbon nanotubes protected the brains of treated rats from ischaemic injury.</P>
Growth of carbon nanotubes by microwave plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition at low temperature

Carbon nanotubes have been grown on Ni-coated Si substrates by microwave plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition with a mixture of methane and hydrogen gases at temperatures ranging from 520 to 700℃. The density and the length of carbon nanotubes increased with increasing growth temperature. At growth temperature of 520℃, carbon nanotubes were curly, whereas the nanotubes were straight and self-aligned upward at temperatures above 600℃. Images of high-resolution transmission electron microscope showed that nanotubes were multiwalled with a few wall-structures. The graphitized structures were also confirmed by Raman spectra. We show that the size of Ni domains on Si substrates is correlated to the diameters of the grown carbon nanotubes.
