ROLLING STONES WITH NONCONVEX SIDES I: REGULARITY THEORY
Lee, Ki-Ahm,Rhee, Eun-Jai Korean Mathematical Society 2012 대한수학회지 Vol.49 No.2
In this paper, we consider the regularity theory and the existence of smooth solution of a degenerate fully nonlinear equation describing the evolution of the rolling stones with nonconvex sides: $\{M(h)=h_t-F(t,z,z^{\alpha}h_{zz})\;in\;\{0<z{\leq}1\}{\times}[0,T] \\ h_t(z,t)=H(h_z(z,t),h)\;{on}\;\{z=0\}$. We establish the Schauder theory for $C^{2,{\alpha}}$-regularity of h.
A FINANCIAL MARKET OF A STOCHASTIC DELAY EQUATION
Lee, Ki-Ahm,Lee, Kiseop,Park, Sang-Hyeon Korean Mathematical Society 2019 대한수학회보 Vol.56 No.5
We propose a stochastic delay financial model which describes influences driven by historical events. The underlying is modeled by stochastic delay differential equation (SDDE), and the delay effect is modeled by a stopping time in coefficient functions. While this model makes good economical sense, it is difficult to mathematically deal with this. Therefore, we circumvent this model with similar delay effects but mathematically more tractable, which is by the backward time integration. We derive the option pricing equation and provide the option price and the perfect hedging portfolio.

Background/Aims: The goal of this study was to monitor tuberculosis (TB)-specific T-cell responses in cerebrospinal f luid-mononuclear cells (CSF-MCs) and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) in patients with tuberculous meningitis (TBM) over the course of anti-TB therapy. Methods: Adult patients (≥ 16 years) with TBM admitted to Asan Medical Center, Seoul, South Korea, were prospectively enrolled between April 2008 and April 2011. Serial blood or CSF samples were collected over the course of the anti-TB therapy, and analyzed using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent spot (ELISPOT) assay. Results: Serial ELISPOT assays were performed on PBMCs from 17 patients (seven definite, four probable, and six possible TBM) and CSF-MC from nine patients all definite TBM). The median number of interferon-gamma (IFN-γ)-producing T-cells steadily increased during the first 6 months after commencement of anti-TB therapy in PBMCs. Serial CSF-MC ELISPOT assays revealed significant variability in immune responses during the first 6 weeks of anti-TB therapy, though early increases in CSF-MC ELISPOT results were associated with treatment failure or paradoxical response. Conclusions: Serial analysis of PBMCs by ELISPOT during the course of treatment was ineffective for predicting clinical response. However, increases in TB-specific IFN-γ-producing T-cells in CSF-MC during the early phase of anti- TB therapy may be predictive of clinical failure.

<P>Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder, characterized by cognitive impairment and memory loss. Amyloid β1-42 (Aβ) and hyper-phosphorylation of microtubule-associated protein tau have been considered as major histological features in AD. However, the mechanism of how Aβ induces the hyper-phosphorylation of tau remains to be clarified. In the present study, we investigated the underlying cellular mechanisms of Aβ with regard to the cell cycle regulatory protein-mediated phosphorylation of tau in promoting neuronal cell death. The oligomer Aβ (5 μM) significantly increased the level of caspase 3 cleavage and has the ability to induce cytotoxicity in human neuroblastoma SK-N-MC cells. Aβ induced the degree of extracellular calcium influx via the L-type channel to facilitate the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Aβ signaling through ROS production is uniquely mediated by the activation of PI3K/Akt, which is in turn required for mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1) phosphorylation. mTORC1 activated by Aβ further increased the phosphorylation of eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E (eIF4E), a binding protein (4E-BP1) and p70S6K1 to stimulate the HIF1α synthesis responsible for the induction of cyclinD1/cyclin-dependent kinase 4 (CDK4) and cyclinE/CDK2, whereas it significantly attenuated the activation of autophagy. Aβ distinctively induced the CDK2-mediated phosphorylation of tau, which is responsible for microtubule destabilization in promoting neuronal apoptosis. In mouse hippocampal primary neurons, the apoptotic cell death induced by Aβ is highly susceptible to the mTORC1 signaling pathway. These results demonstrate that Aβ efficiently stimulates the mTORC1 signaling pathway to facilitate HIF1α synthesis and autophagy inhibition to promote the expression of cell cycle regulatory proteins, during which CDK2 uniquely stimulates tau phosphorylation for microtubule destabilization-mediated neuronal apoptosis.</P>
ROLLING STONES WITH NONCONVEX SIDES II: ALL TIME REGULARITY OF INTERFACE AND SURFACE
Lee, Ki-Ahm,Rhee, Eun-Jai Korean Mathematical Society 2012 대한수학회지 Vol.49 No.3
In this paper we consider the evolution of the rolling stone with a rotationally symmetric nonconvex compact initial surface ${\Sigma}_0$ under the Gauss curvature flow. Let $X:S^n{\times}[0,\;{\infty}){\rightarrow}\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ be the embeddings of the sphere in $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ such that $\Sigma(t)=X(S^n,t)$ is the surface at time t and ${\Sigma}(0)={\Sigma}_0$. As a consequence the parabolic equation describing the motion of the hypersurface becomes degenerate on the interface separating the nonconvex part from the strictly convex side, since one of the curvature will be zero on the interface. By expressing the strictly convex part of the surface near the interface as a graph of a function $z=f(r,t)$ and the non-convex part of the surface near the interface as a graph of a function $z={\varphi}(r)$, we show that if at time $t=0$, $g=\frac{1}{n}f^{n-1}_{r}$ vanishes linearly at the interface, the $g(r,t)$ will become smooth up to the interface for long time before focusing.

In this study, the theoretical analysis on the characteristics of sludge drying was performed in the state of exhaust recirculation, which hot air for drying is in the superheated steam condition in rotary drum dryer. The diameter and length of drum was predicted by overall heat transfer coefficient and the fuel consumption, recirculation quantity of exhaust gas was estimated by exhaust gas temperature. And the absolute humidity of hot gas were examined according to the hot gas temperature and exhaust gas temperature.
