        A solution-region approach for synthesis linkages with coincident instantaneous center and one fixed pivot

        We present a solution-region based approach for the synthesis of straight-line linkages, which is based on the stationary curvature point on curve and higher order stationery point theory of infinite approximation geometry. The selection of the Ball-Burmester point and the distribution of the solution-regions are discussed in this work. Further, two alternative cases have been analyzed for finding the Ball-Burmester point positions of the crank-rocker straightline mechanism, when one side-link is collinear with the frame. The distribution diagrams of the Ball-Burmester point positions are depicted to help the designers extract complete solutions. Infinite solu-tions for the mechanism can be expressed for each case on a diagram by employing the solution-region method. These diagrams will help the designers find the inherent mechanism intuitively and streamline the selection of results. The results indicate that the efficiency of design and reliability have been effectively improved owing to the implementation of these methods.

        Synthesis method based on solution regions for planar four-bar straight-line linkages

        An analytical method for synthesizing and selecting desired four-bar straight-line mechanisms based on solution regions is presented. Given two fixed pivots, the point position and direction of the target straight-line, an infinite number of mechanism solutions can be produced by employing this method, both in the general case and all three special cases. Unifying the straight-line direction and the displacement from the given point to the instant center into the same form with different angles as parameters, infinite mechanism solutions can be expressed with different solution region charts. The mechanism property graphs have been computed to enable the designers to find out the involved mechanism information more intuitively and avoid aimlessness in selecting optimal mechanisms.

        Sensitive Vector Search for Logic Circuit Failure Probability based on Improved Adaptive Cuckoo Algorithm

        With the development of microelectronics technology, the feature size of integrated circuit continues to shrink, and circuit performance has been improved. At the same time, however, factors such as process disturbance, power noise, and particle radiation are having an increasingly serious influence on the Failure Probability of Circuits (FPC). Searching the input vectors that are sensitive to FPC can assist circuit designers in selectively reinforcing the circuit to reduce the fault-tolerant overhead and improve the fault-tolerant efficiency. In this paper, an Improved Adaptive Cuckoo Search (IACS) algorithm is proposed to search sensitive circuit vectors. The vector segmentation strategy is used to change the dimension of the input vector, the hill climbing algorithm is used to improve the quality of the initial population, and the adaptive strategy is used to control parameters such as power-law index, discovery probability and scaling factor. At the same time, a Correlation Separation Approach (COSEA) is proposed to calculate the FPC under specific vector excitation. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has higher accuracy and better efficiency compared with existing algorithms.
