The adsorption system is also a fundamental interest because of its unique electronic properties such as measurement of work function change, adatom-core level shift. The effects of adsorption and desorption of alkali-metals on Si(111) surface were investigated by using AES and FHEED-system. It was found that the growth mode of K on Si surface was layer by layer growth and the saturation coverage was 2.0 ML at room temperature. Alkali-metals such as Li and K, adsorption and desorption processes on Si surface according to the alkali-metal thickness and substrate temperatures were accurately defined. By applying the isothermal desorption method, the desorption energies of Li/Si(111) and K/Si(111) surfaces was measured. On Li/Si(111) and K/Si(111) surfaces, the desorption energies were 3.07eV, 2.19eV respectively.

Protein kinase C (PKC) is a multigene family of at least nine serine/threonine kinases that are central to many signal transduction pathways. And the expression of PKC gene is strictly con-trolled by developmental stage. Mutation of the W (c kit) gene, which encodes a transmembrane tyrosine kinase receptor, affect the development and differentiation stem cells. Most homozygous W mutant mice are sterile, due to a lack of germ cells arising during embryonic development, but one of notable exception is W */Wh mice, which are fully fertile in both sexes. In order to elucidate the biological functions of PKC S and c-kit in the testes, we have examined the expression of PKC b mRNA and c-kit mRNA in While mouse testes by means of Northern blotting. North-em blot results was demonstrated that only PKC 8, 4, 8 mRNA can be detected in normal mouse testes. PKC, 8 mRNA was weakly expressed in 7 and 8-week-old mice and highly ex-pressed by 12 weeks. The PKC 8 mRNA and the c-kit mRNA was detectable in the testes of Whl Wh mouse. These results indicated that the function of the PKC a gene is necessary for the development and the W (c-kit) gene is important for the transmission of signal in testes.
상처치유시 Antisense TGF-β1 Oligodeoxynucleotides가 Inducible Nitric Oxide Synthase발현 조절에 미치는 영향

Wound healing in the skin may be complicated by both microbial invasion and inflammation. Following injury, platelet degranulation releases a number of chemotactic factors including transforming growth factor (TGF-fl) and platelet derived growth factor (PDGF). TGF-19 is a cytokines that modulates many cellular function and gene expression. However, it is not known whether TGF-P could regulate inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) gene expression during wound healing. Here we report that down regulation of TGF-Q gene expression by antisense oligodeoxynucleotides increase iNOS during wound healing. Our reverse transcription- polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) result has shown that antisense TGF-fil oligodeoxynucleotides (ODN) targeting the TGF-J11 translation initiation region markedly reduced TGF-(il mRNA levels in wounded skin. Also, marked reduction in TGF-fl1 mRNA after antisense treatment invited that the increment of iNOS mRNA in wounded skin. Therefore, our irnmunohistochemical studies revealed a "pattern of iNOS product in wounded skin treated antisense TGF-fl1 ODN that was similar to the pattern of RNA synthesis detected by RT-PCR. In conclusion, our results indicated that the regulatory actions of TGF fl1 on iNOS. might be involved in the initiation and faciliates the resolution of inflammation following wounding.

Despite the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination roll-out, variant-related outbreaks have occurred repeatedly in Korea. Although public hospitals played a major role in COVID-19 patients’ care, difficulty incorporating evolving COVID-19 treatment guidelines called for a clinical pathway (CP). Eighteen public hospitals volunteered, and a professional review board was created. CPs were formulated containing inclusion/exclusion criteria, application flow charts, and standardized order sets. After CP roll-out, key parameters improved, such as increased patient/staff five-point satisfaction scores (0.41/0.57) and decreased hospital stays (1.78 days)/medical expenses (17.5%). The CPs were updated consistently after roll-out as new therapeutics drugs were introduced and quarantine policies changed.

<P>The chemiresistive sensing characteristics of metal oxide gas sensors depend closely on ambient humidity. Herein, we report that gas sensors using Tb-doped SnO<SUB>2</SUB> yolk-shell spheres can be used for reliable acetone detection, regardless of the variations in humidity. Pure SnO<SUB>2</SUB> and Tb-doped SnO<SUB>2</SUB> yolk-shell spheres were prepared via ultrasonic spray pyrolysis and their chemiresistive sensing characteristics were studied. The sensor resistance and gas response of the pure SnO<SUB>2</SUB> yolk-shell spheres significantly changed and deteriorated upon exposure to moisture. In stark contrast, the Tb-doped SnO<SUB>2</SUB> yolk-shell spheres exhibited similar gas responses and sensor resistances in both dry and humid [relative humidity (RH) 80%] atmospheres. In addition, the Tb-doped SnO<SUB>2</SUB> yolk-shell sensors showed a high gas response (resistance ratio) of 1.21 to the sub-ppm-levels (50 ppb) of acetone with low responses to the other interference gases. The effects of Tb oxide and the chemical interactions among the Tb oxide, SnO<SUB>2</SUB>, and water vapor on this humidity-independent gas sensing behavior of the Tb-doped SnO<SUB>2</SUB> yolk-shell sensors were investigated. This strategy can provide a new road to achieve highly sensitive, selective, and humidity-independent sensing of acetone, which will facilitate miniaturized and real-time exhaled breath analysis for diagnosing diabetes.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
흰쥐 재생간에서의 Aryl Sulfotransferase의 활성도

This study was made to know the changes of aryl sulfotransferase activity in regenerating rat liver. Cytosolic, mitochondrial and microsomal aryl sulfotransferase isozymes I,II and III, IV activities were determined in regenerating liver tissue following 70% (median and left lateral lobes) partial hepatectomy in rats for a period of ten days. The activities of these enzymes in serum were measured, the values of the Km and Vmax in these hepatic enzymes were also measured. The activities of cytosolic, Mitochondrial, and microsomal aryl sulfotransferase I,II in regenerating rat liver tissue showed a significant increase between the second and the third day, the first and the third day, and the twelfth hour and the third day, respectively, following partial hepatectomy. The activities of aryl sulfotransferase isozymes I,II and III,IV in rat serum showed a significant increase between the twelfth hour and the first day following partial hepatectomy. The values of Vmax of cytosolic, mitochndrial and icrosomal aryl sulfotransferase isozyme I,II and III,IV in the regenerating liver showed significant increases at the second day following partial hepatectomy However, the values of Km of the these hepatic enzymes did not change. In View of the above results, aryl sulfotransferase isozymes in regenerating rat liver suggest that these are the enzymes increasing their bisoyntheses in the regenerating stage.
