농산물 소독과정에서 브롬화메틸에 노출된 근로자에게 발생한 신경병 2례

목적 : 농산물 소독과정에서 브롬화메틸에 노출된 근로자에게 발생한 신경병 2례 보고. 방법 : 피로감, 전신무력감, 어지럼증, 보행장애 등의 증상을 주소로 내원한 브롬화메틸을 사용하여 방역작업에 종사하는 건강한 20세와 18세의 근로자를 대상으로 혈액검사, 신경정도 및 근전도검사, 뇌자기공명영상 등의 임상검사와 작업력조사를 시행하였다. 결과 : 1례에서 뇌자기공명영상에서 연수와 소뇌의 양측 측충부의 고신호강도가 관찰되었고 11일 후의 추적조사에서 동일 부위의 고신호강토가 감소된 소견이 관찰되었으며 뇌병증으로 최종 진단되었다. 다른 1례는 신경전도검사에서 다발성 신경병 소견과 뇌유발전위검사에서 우측 하부 뇌간부위 병소가 관찰되었고 뇌병증 및 말초신경 병으로 최종 진단되었다. 결론 : 근로자들의 증상은 소독과정에서 브롬화메틸 노출로 인한 신경 병으로 판단되며 훈증소독과방역작업에 종사하는 근로자들의 실태조사와 안전에 대한 대책이 시급하다고 하겠다. Objectives : To report two cases of neuropathy due to methyl bromide intoxication. Methods : Workers, engaged in the fumigating process, complained fatigue, general weakness, ataxia, and hypersomnia. We evaluated them with blood tests, neurophysiologic studies and MRI and investigated their occupational history. Results : Increased signal intensities were found in the medulla oblongata and paraver mian of cerebellum in MRI and after 11 days, high signal intensities were reduced in the following MRI. In the other case, polyneuropathy and rlght lower brainstem lesion were observed In the NCV and BAEP studies. Conclusions : We confirmed that worker's symptoms were related to methyl bromide exposure in the fumigation. It is necessary that we should evaluate present condition of fumigating process and prepare appropriate methods to protect workers engaged in the fumigation.
An Evaluation of Thermal Fatigue Cracking and Chemical Reaction in Die Casting Mould

<P>It is well known that the main failure mechanisms in die-casting mould are heat checking due to thermal fatigue and melt-out caused by chemical reaction between die and molten alloys. Thermal fatigue tests were carried out using the thermal cycle simulator to establish the proper method to estimate the thermal fatigue resistance of hot die steel. In this study, the thermal shock tester consisted of induction heating and water spray cooling unit was constructed to evaluate thermal crack propagation resistance and the sum of crack length per unit specimen length, Lm is proposed as the index representing the susceptibility to crack initiation and propagation. Also, new concept of measurement for the melt-out behavior was suggested. AISI H13 hot work tool steel was solution treated and tempered at various temperatures, to control the hardness and toughness that have effect on the behavior of thermal crack propagation. The result of thermal fatigue test showed that there is optimum value of hardness and impact energy to maximize the thermal crack propagation resistance. The influence of nitriding on melt-out resistance was also investigated. The dissolution rate due to melt-out phenomenon tended to be smaller for thicker compound layer. Furthermore, the resistance to melt-out was affected by the compound layer thickness rather than that of diffusion layer. The results of the both tests properly reflect the effect of materials properties on failure modes of die-casting mould and it means those test methods are suitable to evaluate the durability of hot work tool steel for die-casting.</P>
Ni0.5Cu0.1Zn0.4Fe₂O₄ Ferrite - Rubber Composite의 전파흡수특성에 미치는 열처리 온도의 영향 및 Carbon 첨가효과

The structure, shape, size, and magnetic properties of Ni_(0.5)Cu_(0.1)Zn_(0.4)Fe₂O₄ have been investigated as a function of annealing temperatures. In order to control the microwave absorbing properties of ferrite-rubber composite and the complex losses (magnetic loss and conduction loss), the effect of carbon addition was also studied. It was found that the coercive force decreased with increasing heat-treatment temperatures. Relative complex permeability and reflection loss were measured by the network analyzer. As a result, the natural resonance occurred in the low frequency range, and the matching frequency of the ferrite-rubber composite prepared at 1300℃ was found to be lower. As heat-treatment temperatures were increased, the magnetic loss (μr/μr') and the dielectric loss (εr/εr') were increased. It was caused that the absorption characteristics of the absorber were improved. The conduction loss and magnetic loss were expected to be occurred together because two matching frequencies were shown with carbon addition. It was confirmed that the matching frequency of the microwave absorber could be controlled by controlling heat-treatment temperatures and carbon additions.

A simulation software is developed for the fluidized bed sludge incinerator. The software includes; 1) the heat and mass balances are computed for the combustor, 2) the shell and tube type air heater is designed for proper supply of the fluidizing air, and 3) the heat recovery steam generator is designed for recovering the waste energy. Some sample calculations of the sludge incinerator plants are successful to result in reasonable system balance and design data.

<P>We demonstrate that chitosan prepatterns can generate not only highly periodic DNA pattern but also various types of graphitic carbon materials such as single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs), graphene oxide (GO) and reduced graphene oxide (RGO). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), fluorescence imaging and Raman spectroscopic results revealed that the graphitic carbon materials were selectively deposited on the surface of the periodic chitosan patterns by the electrostatic interaction between protonated amine groups of chitosan and the negative charged carbon materials. One proof-of-concept application of the system to the fabrication of electrical devices based on the micropatterns of SWNTs and RGO was also demonstrated. The strategy to use highly surface active chitosan pattern that can easily fabricate highly periodic pattern via a variety of lithographic tools may pave the way for the production of periodic arrays of graphitic carbon materials for large area device integration.</P>
