Bovine tuberculosis in an Asian small-clawed otter (<i>Aonyx cinerea</i>) in the Republic of Korea

<P>Bovine tuberculosis caused by <I>Mycobacterium bovis</I> has a wide range of hosts including cattle and humans, but its incidence in otters is very rare. Our report describes a case of bovine tuberculosis in an Asian small-clawed otter (<I>Aonyx cinerea</I>). A deceased female otter ~2–3 years of age that was raised in an aquarium was submitted to the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency (Anyang, Republic of Korea) for autopsy in June 2013. Following gross pathological examination, many white nodules were observed in the lungs and mesentery. The nodules showed central necrosis infiltrated with lymphocytes and macrophages and surrounded by fibrous tissue. Acid-fast bacteria were detected in the necrotic foci, but no fungi were observed. Molecular analysis led to the detection of <I>M. bovis</I>, which is identified in otters in some European countries such as Spain and France.</P>

Improper transfer rate of trauma patients in the pre-hospital trauma care was 50.7% and the transfer rate to the level of appropriate hospital within 30 minutes was 46.6% in South Korea. For this reason, the quality management of prehopital care in korea are required. The Purpose of this study is intended to improve the trauma care process of ems in pre-hospital in korea. The research subjects are the trauma patients transferred by Gang-won 119 Fire Department Ambulance in 2013. The methods are the data that is analyzed using the 119 ambulance recording sheets of trauma patients including structural indicators, process indicators and outcome indicators that reflect the process map (VSM: Value Stream Map) developed and analyzed. All transferred patient to the hospital emergency room in Gang-won Province during the entire year of 2013 results 66,282 and trauma patients were 30,887. Types of occurred accidents in trauma patients are 16,200 (53.0%), MVA (motor vehicle accidents) 8,789 (29.0 %), and others 5,593 (18.0 %), respectively. This study results the step-by-step problems and improvements occurring the report stage, mobilization phase, the field phase, transfer phase, the hospital phase in pre-hospital.

Currently frontal crash safety evaluation is conducted by crashing a vehicle against a rigid barrier in Korea. It evaluate crash performance of a vehicle in a barrier test in terms of vehicle stiffness and strength. But this method is basic test. Probably, This test isn’t matched in Real World Crash Collision about occupant injury. So The availability of in-depth accident data is prerequisite for each efficient traffic safety management system. In this study, As using photo modeler program, It finds out relationship between occupant injury based on AIS and Estimated Energy Equivalent Speed in the real world in-depth accident data and compares crashing a vehicle test against a rigid barrier by using Madymo to Estimated Energy Equivalent Speed in the Real World in-depth accident data. Using Real World in-depth accident data is essential part of improving vehicle safety and reduction of traffic fatality in Korea.

Recently, deep learning methods have shown great potential in various tasks that involve handling large amounts of digital data. In the field of MR imaging research, deep learning methods are also rapidly being applied in a wide range of areas to complement or replace traditional model-based methods. Deep learning methods have shown remarkable improvements in several MR image processing areas such as image reconstruction, image quality improvement, parameter mapping, image contrast conversion, and image segmentation. With the current rapid development of deep learning technologies, the importance of the role of deep learning in MR imaging research appears to be growing. In this article, we introduce the basic concepts of deep learning and review recent studies on various MR image processing applications.
