The coupling reaction of iodobenzene with allylic diols in the presence of Pd(OAc)_2 and nBu_3P as catalysts using K_2CO_3 as base afforded the phenyl-substituted allylic diols. However, under the same reaction conditions with Et3N as base, phenyl-substituted α-hydroxy ketone was obtained.

Background: In atopic dermatitis (AD), matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-9 released by IL-13 stimulated keratinocytes is thought to play a crucial role in skin inflammation. Although MMP-9 can degrade type IV collagen, a major component of basement membrane (BM), BM defect in AD has not yet been thoroughly investigated. Objectives: In the present study, we sought to elucidate the basement membrane status in AD and to compare them with those in chronic nummular eczema and normal skin. Methods: Tissue samples of 10 AD patients, 4 nummular eczema patients, and 6 normal controls were collected. Immunohistochemical staining of type IV collagen, integrin α 6, involucrin, filaggrin, p63 was performed to study the status of BM, epidermal cell differentiation, and epidermal cell stemness. Moreover, in vitro AD models were made using skin equivalents (SE) treated with IL-13 and conducted the same immunohistochemical staining on these models. Results: Type IV collagen and integrin α6 were significantly decreased in BM of AD compared with nummular eczema and normal skin. Filaggrin expression was decreased in AD and the p63 positivity was also decreased in AD compared to other groups. In the SE model, all these markers were decreased upon the addition of IL-13. Conclusion: AD skin may have defective BM and low capacity to regenerate. IL-13 may possibly have an important role for these defects.
정상인 및 간질환에서의 혈청 Lipoprotein에 관한 연구

Serum lipoprotein patterns were studied in 66 normal persons and 64 patients with acute hepatitis and in 57 patients with cirrhosis of liver at Asan Foundation Attached Hospital from 1980 to 1981. Serum lipoprotein were seperated by electrophoresis with agarose gel and the following results were obtained. 1. In normal Korean, serum α-lipoprotein showed decrements with aging, while serum β-lipoprotein and pre-β-lipoprotein increased with aging, but the difference was not statistically significant. Significant alteration by sex in serum lipoprotein patternswere not observed. 2. Serum α and pre β-lipoprotein in patients with acute hepatitis gave lower value than in the normal persons, but the value of serum β-lipoprotein were significantly elevated. Sex and age difference showed no statical significance in this disease. 3. The value of serum α-lipoprotein fraction in patients with acute viral hepatitis B gave higher value than non-B acute viral hepatitis, but the difference was not statically significant. 4. Serum α and pre-β-lipoprotein fraction in patients with icteric hepatitis showed decrement with increasing of serum total bilirubin level. 5. In the patients with cirrhosis of liver, the value of α-lipoprotein was lower than normal subjects and patients with acute hepatitis, but (serum β-lipoprotein fraction was higher than normal subjects and patients with acute hepatitis. 6. Serum α-ilpoprotein fraction in patients with chronic hepatic encephalopathy was significantly lower then patients with cirrhosis of liver, but markedly higher value of serum β-lipoprotein than cirrhosis of liver was observed.
Seismic Evaluation of Beam-Column Joint Specimens of RC Special Moment Frames

본 연구는 철근콘크리트 특수모멘트골조(SMF)내 보-기둥 접합부의 비탄성 회전능력에 대한 연구결과를 조사한 것이다. 모든 실험체들은 ACI 318-02에 정의된 설계 및 세부지침에 따라 특수모멘트골조로 분류되었다. AISC(2002)기준에서 모멘트골조의 접합부에 대한 내진성능의 만족 기준을 이용하여 보-기둥 접합부를 평가하였다. 총 39개의 실험체들에 대해 자세하게 조사되었다. 특수모멘트골조에 대한 내진설계기준을 만족하는 대부분의 접합부들은 3%의 소성회전까지 휨강도의 심각한 감소 없이 연성이 유지되었다. 이는 특수모멘트골조 접합부들에 대한 엄격한 콘크리트 내진설계 규정에 따른 것으로 조사되었다. 접합부내의 횡방향 보의 존재는 보-기둥 접합부의 구속력과 전단에 대한 저항성을 증가시킨 것으로 조사되었다 접합부 전단응력에 대한 ACI 328-02 제한조건을 만족하는 모든 특수모멘트골조의 접합부들은 요구되는 내진성능을 만족하는 것으로 나타났다. This study summarizes the results of a research project aimed at investigating the inelastic rotation capacity of beam-column joints of reinforced concrete special moment frames. All of the test specimens were classified as special moment frame (SMF), based on the design and detailing requirements of the ACI 318-02 provisions. The acceptance criteria, originally defined for steel moment frame connections in the 1997 edition of the AISC Seismic provisions, were used to evaluate the beam-column joints of the reinforced concrete moment frames. A total of 39 test specimens were examined in detail. Most of the joints that satisfy the design requirements for special moment frame structures were found to be ductile up to a plastic rotation of 3% without any major degradation in strength. This is mainly due to the stringent ACI 318-02 requirements for special moment frame joints. The presence of transverse beams increases confinement and shear resistance of joints, which results in better performance than for joints without transverse beams. All of the SMF connections that satisfy the ACI 318-02 limitations on joint shear stress turned out to meet the acceptance criteria.

Lichen striatus is a fairly common, linear, self-limited eruption that is seen primarily in children. The average age is 3 years, but it can occur at any age. In adults, lichen striatus often presents a quit different clinical feature rather than in childhood. It is characterized by papulovesicles, multilinearity, relapse, and histological spongiotic change. We report two cases of lichen striatus occured in a 45-year-old and 32-year-old man. The effort to realize the concept of stratospheric airship, which can fly at about 20km altitude, has been persevered since late 1980's. Referring to the feasibility study of ensuring the flight duration of the airship over 1year, total weight is about 30 tons, the length is about 200m. There are lots of key technologies to be solved to develop the system, and one of the essential prerequisite technologies is regenerative fuel cell system. In this paper, design requirement of regenerative fuel cell system is introduced with the feasibility study results of the challenging stratospheric airship.
