Scene Text Recognition with Korean Real-World Dataset

Scene Text Detection and Recognition is a problem of reading letters from everyday landscape images. Recently, STR research using deep learning models has been actively conducted for various applications. However, STR still has many challenges to overcome due to the complexity in image contents, which is much more challenging compared to recognizing letters in paper documents. In addition, the STR performance appears good for foreign characters such as English or Chinese, but poor for Korean. In this paper, we develop a model suitable for the Korean environment through the real world Korean scene text dataset. We measure the performance of various configurations of networks to find suitable network structure.
A simple new sparsity check method for L-infinity Attack

There are various adversarial attacks on neural networks. Many previous studies have reported that neural networks are vulnerable to those adversarial attacks. In the perspective of safety, we have to evaluate a model's robustness against those attacks. However, it is not simple to determine whether a model is robust to adversarial attacks since there exist multiple properties for a model. Mostly, we have measured robustness with accuracy against those attacks so far. In a recent study, it was shown that this measurement methodology is not sufficient to capture all the robustness properties. In this paper, we present a simple new metric that captures sparsity, a robustness property against L-infinity sparse attacks. Through several experiments we show that there is necessity to use diverse metric to evaluate a model's robustness and our new metric works well.

Black wood ear mushroom (Auricularia auricula-judae) is one of the most economically important mushrooms in China, Japan, and Korea. The cultivation of wood ear mushrooms on artificial substrates is more efficient in terms of time and cost compared with their natural growth on trees. However, if the substrate cultivation is infected by fast-growing fungi, the relatively slow-growing ear mushroom will be outcompeted, leading to economic losses. In this study, we investigated the competitive fungal isolates from substrates infected with fast-growing fungi for the cultivation of ear mushrooms in Jangheung and Sunchon, Korea. We collected 54 isolates and identified them by sequencing their internal transcribed spacer region with morphological identification. Among the isolates, the dominant isolates were Trichoderma spp. (92.6%), Penicillium spp. (5.6%), and Talaromyces sp. (1.8%). To find an appropriate eco-friendly biocontrol agent, we used five Streptomyces spp. and Benomyl, as controls against Trichoderma spp. and Penicillium spp. Among the six Streptomyces spp., Streptomyces sp. JC203-3 effectively controlled the fungi Trichoderma spp. and Penicillium spp., which pose a significant problem for the substrates of black wood ear mushrooms. This result indicated that this Streptomyces sp. JC203-3 can be used as biocontrol agents to protect against Trichoderma and Penicillium spp.

In this paper, we propose a new control scheme for emulating dynamic loads. The key component is the disturbance observer which is widely employed in industry. The dynamics to be emulated is represented as the nominal model to be recovered and a disturbance observer based controller is developed to guarantee the recovery. Some simulation results are included to show the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

<P>Herein, a new methodology for solution processed ZnO fabrication on Ag nanowire network electrode via combustion reaction is reported, where the amount of heat the reaction temperature to avoid damaging the underlying Ag nanowires. The degree of participation of acetylacetones, which are volatile fuels in the combustion reaction, was found to vary with the reaction temperature, as revealed by thermogravimetric and compositional analyses. An optimized processing temperature of 180 degrees C was chosen to successfully fabricate a combustion-reacted ZnO and Ag nanowire hybrid electrode with a sheet resistance of 30 Omega/sq and transmittance of 87%. A combustion-reacted ZnO on Ag structure was demonstrated as an efficient transparent electrode and electron transport layer for the PTB7-Th-based polymer solar cells. The superior electrical conductivity of combustion-reacted ZnO, compared to that of conventional sol-gel ZnO, increased the external quantum efficiency over the entire absorption range, whereas a unique light scattering effect due to the presence of nanopores in the combustion-derived ZnO further enhanced the external quantum efficiency in the 450-550 nm wavelength range. A power conversion efficiency of 8.48% was demonstrated for the PTB7-Th-based polymer solar cell with the use of a combustion-reacted ZnO/Ag NW hybrid transparent electrode.</P>

<P>The disturbance observer has been widely employed in applications due to its powerful ability for disturbance rejection and robustness under plant uncertainties. However, it rejects the disturbance approximately rather than exactly since it is usually designed without considering structural properties of disturbance. In order to improve the disturbance rejection performance, we propose a design method to embed the internal model of disturbance into the disturbance observer structure. Furthermore, a systematic design procedure is proposed so that one can always design the disturbance observer to guarantee robust stability of the closed-loop system even though uncertain parameters of the plant belong to an arbitrarily large (but bounded) set.</P>
Human Pose Detection Methodologies for Better Posture

Often most of the modern human people are suffering from a long time of working or studying on the stationary pose. Subsequently, the health of our life is highly threatened to be exacerbated by chronic orthopedic diseases. In order to solve this social problem, we suggest pose detection that can have the people who have deleterious postures be notified. By using nowadays advanced computer vision techniques, in this paper we suggest the posture recognition module to enhance our quality of life. While most posture recognition recognizes only one person's posture, we made our pipeline to perform posture recognition for multiple people through images obtained through a single camera. One of the big problems in measuring people's postures is that it is necessary to distinguish the various body structures and postures of people. For this, posture images and labeling of various people are required. We created pose images of people of various body types through images of a small number of people through skeleton-based coordinates augmentation. We made a posture classifier using various models and observed the improvement of augmentation performance for each model. Through this, we found that the postures of various people can be measured using a relatively small data set. In particular, for deep-learning models that require a lot of data, generalization performance was greatly improved.

This article describes a simple method for generating the walking trajectory for the biped humanoid robot. The method used a simple inverted model instead of complex multi-mass model and a reasonable explanation for the model simplification is included. The problem of gait trajectory generation is to find the solution from the desired ZMP trajectory to CoG trajectory. This article presents the analytic solution for the bipedal gait generation on the bases of ZMP trajectory. The presented ZMP trajectory has Fourier series form, which has finite or infinite summation of sine and cosine functions, and ZMP trajectory can be designed by calculating the coefficients. From the designed ZMP trajectory, this article focuses on how to find the CoG trajectory with analytical way from the simplified inverted pendulum model. Time segmentation based approach is adopted for generating the trajectories. The coefficients of the function should be designed to be continuous between the segments, and the solution is found by calculating the coefficients with this connectivity conditions. This article also has the proof and the condition of solution existence.
