        <P>Despite development of medicine, cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are still the leading cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide. Over the past 10 years, various stem cells have been utilized in therapeutic strategies for the treatment of CVDs. CVDs are characterized by a broad range of pathological reactions including inflammation, necrosis, hyperplasia, and hypertrophy. However, the causes of CVDs are still unclear. While there is a limit to the currently available target-dependent treatments, the therapeutic potential of stem cells is very attractive for the treatment of CVDs because of their paracrine effects, anti-inflammatory activity, and immunomodulatory capacity. Various studies have recently reported increased therapeutic potential of transplantation of microRNA- (miRNA-) overexpressing stem cells or small-molecule-treated cells. In addition to treatment with drugs or overexpressed miRNA in stem cells, stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles also have therapeutic potential because they can deliver the stem cell-specific RNA and protein into the host cell, thereby improving cell viability. Here, we reported the state of stem cell-based therapy for the treatment of CVDs and the potential for cell-free based therapy.</P>

        Clinical Characteristics of False-Positive Lymph Node on Chest CT or PET-CT Confirmed by Endobronchial Ultrasound-Guided Transbronchial Needle Aspiration in Lung Cancer

        Background: Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) is a standard procedure to evaluate suspicious lymph node involvement of lung cancer because computed tomography (CT) and $^{18}F$-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography-CT (PET-CT) have limitations in their sensitivity and specificity. There are a number of benign causes of false positive lymph node such as anthracosis or anthracofibrosis, pneumoconiosis, old or active tuberculosis, interstitial lung disease, and other infectious conditions including pneumonia. The purpose of this study was to evaluate possible causes of false positive lymph node detected in chest CT or PET-CT. Methods: Two hundred forty-seven patients who were initially diagnosed with lung cancer between May 2009 and December 2012, and underwent EBUS-TBNA to confirm suspicious lymph node involvement by chest CT or PET-CT were analyzed for the study. Results: Of 247 cases, EBUS-TBNA confirmed malignancy in at least one lymph node in 189. The remaining 58 patients whose EBUS-TBNA results were negative were analyzed. Age ${\geq}65$, squamous cell carcinoma as the histologic type, and pneumoconiosis were related with false-positive lymph node involvement on imaging studies such as chest CT and PET-CT. Conclusion: These findings suggest that lung cancer staging should be done more carefully when a patient has clinically benign lymph node characteristics including older age, squamous cell carcinoma, and benign lung conditions.

        Self-Disclosures on Facebook: The Two Faces of Narcissism

        Individual personality traits are key factors that affect users’ self-disclosure on SNS. We examined the relationship between an individual personality trait (i.e., narcissism) and three dimensions of self-disclosure behavior on Facebook (i.e., intention, level, and control of self-disclosure). A total of 261 Facebook users completed an online survey. The findings showed that more narcissistic individuals engage in deeper levels of selfdisclosure and do so with greater intentionality than previous research indicated. More interestingly, narcissistic users simultaneously tend to control their expressions in public by concealing who they really are. Overall, these findings suggested that the self-disclosures on Facebook must not investigated by a single dimensions for better understanding of psychological dynamics of it users. In addition, the present research suggested that the narcissism should not be regarded as a predictor which simply gives either a positive or negative influence on self-disclosing behaviors in SNS.

      • Stable isotope on the evaluation of water quality in the presence of WWTPs in rivers

        <P>We investigated the distribution of nitrogen compounds in Han River as well as two tributaries of Tancheon and Jungrangcheon. Particularly, we observed the significant releases of NH4+-N from effluent of wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) in two tributaries that has resulted in the increases of ammonium nitrogen (NH4+-N) in Han River as well as in Tancheon and Jungrangcheon. Due to the increases of NH4+-N in two tributaries, the larger distribution of delta N-15-NH4+ was observed than those of delta N-15-NO3- in downstream. We calculated the contribution rate of ammonium nitrogen and nitrate nitrogen from effluent to downstream according to the results of stable isotope. The contribution rates of delta N-15-NH4+ from effluent to downstream were significant that ranged between 53 and 100 % in Tancheon and between 27 and 100 % in Jungrangcheon. While the contribution of delta N-15-NO3- was not significant in Tancheon, it was occasionally observed in Jungrangcheon. These results demonstrated that WWTPs are the major sources of NH4+-N in two tributaries, which caused the distinguishable stable isotope of delta N-15-NH4+. Therefore, the stable isotope of delta N-15-NH4+ could be a useful parameter or tracer for the evaluation of NH4-N released from WWTPs in rivers.</P>

        Intractable Progressive Cerebral Infarction with Multiple Atypical Aneurysms in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

        We report a case of intractable progressive cerebral infarction with multiple fusiform aneurysms in a 34-year-old female patient with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), non-responsive to massive immunotherapy. The patient visited the emergency department with dysarthria and left-sided hemiparesis that occurred 2 days before. She was diagnosed with SLE involving the brain and received 12 cycles of cyclophosphamide 12 years prior. Brain diffusion-weighted imaging showed acute infarctions involving the pons and medulla. Additionally, multifocal microbleeding-like signals in various cisternal spaces were detected using susceptibility-weighted imaging. Digital subtraction angiography revealed multiple fusiform aneurysms. Despite antithrombotic treatment with trif lusal and immunotherapies, including corticosteroids, mycophenolate mofetil, and immunoglobulins, for cerebral vasculitis associated infarction, her neurologic deficits worsened with recurrent cerebral infarction. Further investigation for accurate diagnosis and treatment is required.

        본 논문은 다양한 사용자와 컨텐츠 그리고 무선망의 특성 변화를 고려한 무선 멀티미디어 QoS 구조를 제안한다. 제안하는 무선 멀티미디어 QoS 구조는 사용자에게 안정적인 서비스를 제공하기 위하여 시스템 자원 및 서비스 관점에서 체계적으로 설계되었다. 또한, 다양한 사용자 환경 및 요구 조건을 최대한 수용하기 위해 컨텐츠 변환 기법을 제안하고, 다양한 무선망 환경에서 효율적인 사용자 QoS 보장을 위해 무선망 상태에 따른 적응적 전송률 기법을 제안한다. 제안된 무선 멀티미디어 QoS 구조는 실제 시스템으로 구현되고 있으며, 프로토타입으로 구현된 시스템이 제안된 무선 멀티미디어 QoS 구조에 따른 컨텐츠 변환 기법 및 적응적 전송률 기법이 올바로 동작함을 보이며, 무선 멀티미디어 서비스에 대한 서비스 모델과 시스템 구조를 제시한다.

        빈배합 시멘트 혼합점토의 압밀 특성

        4대강 사업이나 항만의 지속적인 건설 및 관리 등으로 인해 준설점토의 발생량은 꾸준히 증가할 것이다. 이러한 준설점토를 매립재료 등으로 유효하게 재활용하기 위해 지반공학 관련 기술자들은 많은 노력을 기울여 왔다. 그러나 준설점토가 일반적으로 매우 높은 초기 함수비를 갖고 있으며 동시에 강도 역시 매우 낮은 점을 생각하면 준설된 점토의 처리를 위한 장비의 주행성 확보나 혹은 압밀을 위해 많은 시간이 필요하다는 등의 다양한 문제에 직면하게 된다. 최근까지 경제성과 효과면에서 탁월한 시멘트를 이용한 준설점토의 처리 등에 많은 연구 성과가 발표되고 혹은 현장에서 효과적인 처리공법으로 사용되고 있지만, 시멘트 자체가 지반 내에서 6가크롬이나 수은 등의 중금속을 유출하는 경우 환경 부하의 증가 뿐만 아니라 지하수를 통한 오염 확산 등에서 우려되는 점이 없지 않다. 따라서 가급적 시멘트 혼합비를 낮출 수 있는 방안에 대한 검토가 이루어져야 한다는 것이 저자들의 판단이며 이를 위해 빈배합 시멘트 혼합점토의 거동에 대해 연구를 수행하였다. 본 논문에서는 특히 압밀 특성에 초점을 맞추어 분석하였으며 연구 결과 압밀 침하량의 억제와 압밀속도의 증가가 동시에 나타나는 시멘트 고화제 혼합비 시작점은 4%~6% 정도인 것을 확인하였다. The amount of dredging clay will be greatly increased by the eco-rive project and port development in Korea. Geotechnical engineers have thrown their efforts into the new ways for effective re-uses of the dredging clay such as the material for reclamation, and so on. However, very high initial water content and low strength causes unexpected difficulties in the aspect of trafficablility or time for consolidation. Therefore, the injection of cement stabilizer is used as one of ways to improve reclaimed ground. However, it also makes an argument by heavy metal from cement stabilizer. In this paper constant rate of strain consolidation test and normal consolidation test were performed to investigate behavior characteristics of the consolidation about soil-cement include lean mixed cement to reduce the environmental loads by the cement. The experimental results of consolidation characteristics about soil-cement include lean mixed cement influenced by mixing ratio. Especially it was observed that mixing ratio of 4%~6% leads not only the reduction of consolidation settlement, but time for consolidation.
