To enhance the reliability of distribution transformers in service and to reduce the cost of maintaining and replacing these, the condition and life of those insulating system should be evaluated accurately and the time to replace should be determined economically. Since the transformer failures related to insulation failure indicates that the primary cause is normally mechanical failure of integrity due to loss of mechanical strength as a result of degradation, the tensile strength characteristics of paper during ageing under accelerated conditions in insulating oil and research trends for assessing the life of insulating paper were investigated.

주상변압기의 상 불균형 및 상태 이상을 3축 진동 센서를 이용하여 추정하고 이를 주파수 특성에 기반하여 각 상태를 분류하였다. 이를 위하여 3차원 공간에 3축 주파수 고조파 특성값들에 대하여 벡터 밀도기반 클러스터링 기법을 사용하였다.

The insulating characteristics and temperature rise behaviors of porcelain suspension insulators were investigated. The testing insulators had used in the distribution systems normally and were sampled. Firstly, leakage current was measured and its impedance was calculated. The leakage current of good insulators is 0.2 mA and its impedance is 66 MΩ. The worse insulators have lower impedance and the insulators having below 15 MΩ take place flashover at the high frequency voltage flashover test. Secondly, the temperature rise characteristics were analyzed depending on leakage current and its impedance. Surface temperature of insulators was measured for 30 minutes and until its saturation after voltage was applied. The temperature rise of insulators having 15 MΩ is about 14.5 ℃ above the ambient temperature. Lastly, the heating behaviors of 3 insulators in a string was analyzed. Any insulator in the string does not generate heat so far as it has at least one sound insulator. On the other hand, all the insulators in the string are bad if the string have any heating insulator.

In this paper variety test results were discussed regarding to the ground potential increase. The tests conducted with a joint box simulating leakage point having an insulator fault. Inside the joint box three-phase cables and one neutral line were connected and the insulator at jointed part was peeled from the one of three-phase cables. The potentials around manhole cover were measured with the variation of manhole material, ground resistance and water resistance when the manhole was flooded. The potentials induced by an electric leakage were drastically decreased with increasing the distance from the leakage location and with less ground resistance.

배전 바이패스 케이블의 길이, 불량 지점 등을 신호를 인가 후 결함, 접속점, 끝점 등에서 반사되는 신호를 계측/분석하는 반사파 계측법을 활용하여 추정하였다. 이를 위하여 주파수 영역에서 신호처리를 위한 필터링 기법 및 상호 상관관계 평가 기법을 사용하였다.

In this paper the thermal aging characteristics of transformer fluid were considered. First, the temperature rise characteristic in transformer winding was discussed. The temperatures were rapidly increased immediately with applying load and then the temperature was followed the exponential temperature rise model. Next, Capacitance and leakage current characteristics of the transformer fluid were measured during the over-loading operation. The capacitance of vegetable fluid and leakage current were evidently increased wit aging time. So the simple methods could be applied to diagnosis of the transformer aging.
