Influence of Polycaprolactone/Collagen Ratio and Microstructure of FibrousMembranes on Mechanical Properties and Anti-Platelet Properties

        Jia-Shuai Zhang,Hui-Lin Mo,Shun-Yang Shen,Du-Han Zhang,Wei Zhang,Yu Ren,Mei-Xian Li 한국고분자학회 2024 폴리머 Vol.48 No.1

In this paper, polycaprolactone (PCL)/collagen (COL) nanofibrous membranes were prepared by electrospinning to study their mechanical properties as well as biocompatibility. The surface morphology was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to access the effect of microstructure on the mechanical properties, cytocompatibility, and enzymatic degradation behaviors. In addition, the effect of hydrophilicity of membranes on the antithrombotic properties was also investigated. The results show that tensile strength of PCL/COL10 is higher than that of other samples due to smaller fiber diameters and tight spatial interlacing of PCL/COL10 membranes. In addition, the hydrophobic surface of PCL becomes hydrophilic after the addition of collagen, which affect platelet adhesion and cytocompatibility of nanofibrous membrane samples. The addition of collagen could promote the cell proliferation as well as the enzymatic degradation rate. Overall, PCL/COL10 has good morphology, the best mechanical properties, appropriate degradation rate, and the best antithrombotic effect as well as biocompatibility.

Optimizing Stem Cell Therapy after Ischemic Brain Injury

        Shuai Zhang,Brittany Bolduc Lachance,Bilal Moiz,Xiaofeng Jia 대한뇌졸중학회 2020 Journal of stroke Vol.22 No.3

Stem cells have been used for regenerative and therapeutic purposes in a variety of diseases. In ischemic brain injury, preclinical studies have been promising, but have failed to translate results to clinical trials. We aimed to explore the application of stem cells after ischemic brain injury by focusing on topics such as delivery routes, regeneration efficacy, adverse effects, and in vivo potential optimization. PUBMED and Web of Science were searched for the latest studies examining stem cell therapy applications in ischemic brain injury, particularly after stroke or cardiac arrest, with a focus on studies addressing delivery optimization, stem cell type comparison, or translational aspects. Other studies providing further understanding or potential contributions to ischemic brain injury treatment were also included. Multiple stem cell types have been investigated in ischemic brain injury treatment, with a strong literature base in the treatment of stroke. Studies have suggested that stem cell administration after ischemic brain injury exerts paracrine effects via growth factor release, blood-brain barrier integrity protection, and allows for exosome release for ischemic injury mitigation. To date, limited studies have investigated these therapeutic mechanisms in the setting of cardiac arrest or therapeutic hypothermia. Several delivery modalities are available, each with limitations regarding invasiveness and safety outcomes. Intranasal delivery presents a potentially improved mechanism, and hypoxic conditioning offers a potential stem cell therapy optimization strategy for ischemic brain injury. The use of stem cells to treat ischemic brain injury in clinical trials is in its early phase; however, increasing preclinical evidence suggests that stem cells can contribute to the down-regulation of inflammatory phenotypes and regeneration following injury. The safety and the tolerability profile of stem cells have been confirmed, and their potent therapeutic effects make them powerful therapeutic agents for ischemic brain injury patients.

Catalytic oxidation of 1,3-diisopropylbenzene using imidazolium ionic liquid as catalyst

        Shuai Xu,Jie Zhang,Jia Liu,Biaohua Chen,Chongpin Huang 한국화학공학회 2009 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.26 No.4

Peroxidation of alkylaromatics is the key step in the synthesis of phenols. Different imidazolium ionic liquids were investigated for the oxidation of cumene. The selectivity of cumene hydroperoxide (CHP) increased with different ionic liquids in the order [C4mim]Cl<[C4mim]Br<[C4mim]BF4<[C4mim]OH. This finding could be interpreted as being due to the partial decomposition of CHP by the acidic proton of the imidazolium cation. Thus [C4mim]OH was chosen as the catalyst for the oxidation of 1,3-diisopropylbenzene to corresponding hydroperoxides and its derivatives. The catalytic performance of [C4mim]OH was also better than that of the traditional catalyst NaOH. Furthermore, the effects of the operating variables were investigated and the mechanism was discussed.

      • Critical Factors in the Decision-making Process of Chinese Mass Taekwondo Consumers: Application of Goal-oriented Behavior Model

( Shuai Zhang ),( Xingyu Xie ),( Shanqing Wan ),( Xiaodai Jia ) 아시아스포츠융합과학회 2021 Asia Pacific Journal of Applied Sport Sciences Vol.2 No.1

PURPOSE This study uses the extended model of goal-oriented behavior to predict and test the behavioral intentions of Chinese public Taekwondo consumers. Based on the original MGB, the study adds five variables related to Taekwondo consumption characteristic to investigate the influencing factors of general Taekwondo consumers' consumption decision-making process. METHOD This study conducts an online survey of 417 students studying in the Chinese Taekwondo Gymnasium and uses IBM SPSS statistical software 26.0 and AMOS 23.0 to analyze the data. Then, the data analysis is divided into two stages. In the first stage, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) is used to test the reliability and validity of the scale. In the second stage, a structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis is employed to test the proposed hypotheses. RESULT The CFA test shows that the data and the model have a good fit, and the model has high combined reliability and convergence validity. And through the modification of the model, a SEM is established. CONCLUSION The results show that desire has the most significant impact on consumers' behavioral preference, followed by past satisfaction and Taekwondo coach image. Past satisfaction significantly affects desire, which in turn affects consumersʼ behavioral preference. The two constructs of Taekwondo cognition and perspective form a positive and significant relationship. In addition, perspective has developed a considerable influence relationship with past satisfaction and Taekwondo coach image, which influences behavior preferences. Expected emotions significantly affect past satisfaction, which indirectly affects desire and consumer behavioral intentions.

        Zhou, Hang,Li, Xiong,Zhang, Yuan,Jia, Yao,Hu, Ting,Yang, Ru,Huang, Ke-Cheng,Chen, Zhi-Lan,Wang, Shao-Shuai,Tang, Fang-Xu,Zhou, Jin,Chen, Yi-Le,Wu, Li,Han, Xiao-Bing,Lin, Zhong-Qiu,Lu, Xiao-Mei,Xing, H Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.9

Background: This study aimed to establish a nomogram by combining clinicopathologic factors with overall survival of stage IA-IIB cervical cancer patients after complete resection with pelvic lymphadenectomy. Materials and Methods: This nomogram was based on a retrospective study on 1,563 stage IA-IIB cervical cancer patients who underwent complete resection and lymphadenectomy from 2002 to 2008. The nomogram was constructed based on multivariate analysis using Cox proportional hazard regression. The accuracy and discriminative ability of the nomogram were measured by concordance index (C-index) and calibration curve. Results: Multivariate analysis identified lymph node metastasis (LNM), lymph-vascular space invasion (LVSI), stromal invasion, parametrial invasion, tumor diameter and histology as independent prognostic factors associated with cervical cancer survival. These factors were selected for construction of the nomogram. The C-index of the nomogram was 0.71 (95% CI, 0.65 to 0.77), and calibration of the nomogram showed good agreement between the 5-year predicted survival and the actual observation. Conclusions: We developed a nomogram predicting 5-year overall survival of surgically treated stage IA-IIB cervical cancer patients. More comprehensive information that is provided by this nomogram could provide further insight into personalized therapy selection.
