This study was to evaluate the optimum conditions for chemical coagulation to remove color and non-biodegradable organic matters from the biologically treated water of piggery wastewater. Raw water was fractionated by characteristics of dissolved organic matter. The fractions of hydrophilic substance and molecular weight cut-off(MWCO) below 500 in raw water were 51% and 74%, respectively. SC(streaming current) was measured to find out the optimum pH values and dosages for aluminium sulfate[Al₂(SO₄)₃·14H₂O] and ferric chloride[FeCl₃·6H₂O] as a coagulant, which was compared with color and turbidity removal efficiencies followed by coagulation, flocculation and sedimentation. From several jar tests, optimum pH values and dosages of coagulants were well matched with the results of SCD analyses. The optimum dosages(pH values) of aluminium and ferric were 5.84 mM(pH 4.0) and 7.03 mM(pH 5.6), respectively. At optimum conditions of coagulation, color removal efficiencies for aluminium sulfate and ferric chloride were as high as 89.3 and 97.9%, respectively. Chemical coagulation showed good performance to remove color and non-biodegradable organic matters from biologically treated water.
Bezier Spline을 이용한 용접 로봇의 새로운 Weaving Motion 궤적 생성 알고리즘

In this paper, we propose a new weaving trajectory algorithm for the are welding of a articulated manipulator. The algorithm uses the theory of Bezier spline. We make a comparison between the conventional algorithms using Catmull-Rom curve and the new algorithms using Bezier spline. The proposed algorithm has been evaluated based on the MATLAB environment in order to illustrate its good performance. Through simulations, the proposed algorithm can result in high-speed and flexible weaving trajectory planning so that it s trajectory cannot penetrate into a base metal compared to the conventional algorithm using Catmull-Rom curve.
Digora 에서 노출시간의 변화가 근관치료용 file의 첨부식별에 미치는 영향

Digora? - an intraoral digital radiography system utilizing image plate (IP) - has a dynamic range of exposure time which allows it to decrease the patient's exposure time and to increase diagnostic ability through image processing, transmission and storage. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the Digora? system by assessing the effects of various exposure times on the detectability on the tip of the endodontic file. Examining the root canals of 45 extracted sound premolars, K-files No. 10, 15, and 20 were placed at slightly varying distances from the apex. The teeth were glued onto resin-plaster blocks. Five exposure times varying between 0.01 seconds and 0.25 seconds were used. Four observers were asked to measure the distance between the tip of the file and a reduction of crown portion, and obtained mean errors (subtracting true file length from the measured file length), comparing Digora? monitors with E-plus films, which were both obtained under the same geometrical positions. The results were as follows: 1. Comparing E-plus film with Digora? at 0.01 seconds, the mean errors in E-plus film showed -4.453 mm, -4.497 mm, and -3.857 mm, while the mean errors in Digora? showed 0.065 mm, 0.607 mm, and 0.719 mm according to the file groups. Therefore there was a significant difference between E-plus film and Digora? (p<0.05). 2. By comparison of mean errors according to the various exposure times in the Digora? system, the mean error at 0.01 seconds was significantly lower than that at 0.12 and 0.25 seconds in the No. 10 file group (p<0.05). And the standard deviation was the highest at 0.01 seconds. 3. Comparing E-plus film at 0.25 seconds with the Digora system, the mean errors showed a significant difference between E-plus film at 0.25 seconds and the Digora? system at 0.25 seconds in No. 10 and 20 file groups (p<0.05). 4. Comparing E-plus film at 0.25 seconds with other exposure times, the mean errors showed a significant difference between E-plus film at 0.25 seconds and E-plus film at 0.01 and 0.03 seconds in 10 file group (p<0.05). In the No. 15 and 20 file groups, there was a significant difference between E-plus film at 0.25 seconds and E-plus film at 0.01 seconds (p<0.05). In conclusion, Digora? was better than E-plus film in detectability on the tip of the file at the exposure time of 0.01 seconds in all file groups. And we concluded that Digora? can shorten exposure times up to 4% of 0.25 seconds (0.01 sec), which is adequate exposure time for premolar in E-plus film using No. 15 and 20 files.

Actinomycosis is a chronic suppurative infection, whitch infiltrates mucosa-associated tissues. Thoracic, pelvic and cervicofacial infections of actinomyces are not uncommon, but endobronchial actinomycosis is rarely reported. We report a case of a 29 year old man who presented with a recurrent pneumonia and chronic cough. Fiberoptic bronchoscopy revealed occlusion of the right. lower medio-basal segment bronchus with exophytic endobronchial mass. The diagnosis was confirmed histologically by demonstration of sulfur granules in the bronchoscopic biopsy of the mass. Intravenous administration of amoxacillin and clindamycin followed by oral amoxacillin and clindamycin therapy resulted in complete recovery.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to find the relationship among the joint status, pain and effusion in patients with temporomandibular joint disorders. Materials and Methods : Materials included 406 patients (812 joints) with clinical records and bilateral TMJ MRIs in TMJ clinic, Yongdong Severance Hospital. All joints were classified in 4 groups in MR images according to the disc status of joint; normal disc position, disc displacement with reduction (DDcR), early and late stage of disc displacement without reduction (DDsR), and also 2 groups according to the bony status of joint; normal bony structure and osteoarthrosis. MR evidence of joint effusion was categorized in 4 groups according to its amount. To determine the relationship between joint pain and joint effusion, 289 patients with unilateral TMJ symptoms were selected from total materials. Result : Joint effusion was found 8.0% in normal disc position,32.6% in DDcR, and 59.2% in DDsR (83.1% in early state and 23.1% in late stage). Joint effusion was found 39.7% in osteoarthrosis and 35.0% in normal bony structure. Joint effusion was more found in the painful joints (49.8%) than in the painless joints (22.4%) (p 〈 0.001). Joint effusion in the early stage of DDsR only was more found significantly in painful joints (91.9%) than in painless joints (62,1%)(p〈 0.001). Conclusion : MR evidence of joint effusion might be related to disc displacement regardless of the presence of osteoarthrosis, and the early stage of DDsR was found more frequently combined with joint effusion and joint pain.(Korean J Oral Maxillofac Radiol 2001;31:73-84)

Despite the use of aggressive local and systemic treatment including autologous stem cell transplantation in multiple myeloma, extramedullary recurrences are common and the prognosis of these patients is poor. Many novel drugs such as thalidomide, lenalidomide and bortezomib improve the response of treatment of multiple myeloma, but some reports failed to describe thalidomide has effect in extramedullary plasmacytoma. Recent data report on the successful treatment plasmacytomas with bortezomib in patients with advanced multiple myeloma. We treated 4 relapsed or refractory extramedullary plasmacytomas with bortezomib at our institution. We recognized all these extramedullary plasmacytomas decreased and showed more than partial response. This report lends support to the efficacy of bortezomib in the treatment of plasmacytoma and describes the safe use of bortezomib. Responses may, however, be of short duration. Therefore, despite our limited experience, we propose that bortezomib may be considered a therapeutic option for such patients who have risk of radiation therapy

Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) is an autosomal dominant syndrome, typically characterized by multiple colorectal adenomas and increased incidence of colorectal carcinomas if it is not treated. Moreover, a variety of extracolonic manifestation are seen. The prevalence of thyroid tumors developing in patients with FAP is about 1∼2%. Generally, papillary thyroid cancer indicates low mortality but ,however, as people get older, the cancer becomes more aggressive. So, the operation is required. Recently we experienced a case of FAP, presenting with papillary thyroid carcinoma, and reported with a brief review of literatures.
