Objectives : The purpose of this study is to explore the trends of Korean medical study on stress in the industrial worker. Methods : We received numbers of the studies about stress in the industrial worker from 6 Korean web databases, using key words such as ‘Industry AND Stress’, ‘Oriental medicine AND Stress’, ‘Worker AND Stress’, ‘Workplace AND Stress’. We received 12 research papers and they were analyzed and the journals, the authors, the contents of 3 classification of those research papers. Results : Among them, we had 6 reviews of Dept. of preventive medicine and Dept. of third medicine, college of Korean Medicine, Won-kwang University, and the rest of them were 6 reviews. We had 4 reviews of Korean Journal of Oriental Preventive Medical Society, 2 reviews of the Journal of Traditional Korean Medicine, 2 reviews of Journal of Oriental Neuropsychiatry and so on. According to the contents of reviews, we had 7 reviews of correlation of industrial worker and stress, 4 reviews of cause on the industrial worker’s stress and 1 case report. Conclusions : We reviewed the trends of Korean medical study on stress in the industrial worker. The stress in the industrial workers were related with the type of occupation, social psychology, drinking, smoking, the satisfaction of job, the harmony of organization.And we knew that the musculoskeletal pain was related to the industrial worker’s stress. In the future, abundant case studies, follow-up trials and RCTs should be done about the industrial worker’s stress.

Purpose: Intracranial manifestations associated with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) include arachnoid cysts, dolichoectasias, and subdural hematoma (SDH), although there are only a few reports of SDH in patients with ADPKD. We report a case of spontaneous SDH in a patient with ADPKD. A 33-year-old woman complained of severe nausea and vomiting for 10 days. She had suffered from a headache for several months. She was diagnosed with ADPKD and hypertension 6 years earlier, and the hypertension was well controlled. Her mental state was drowsy in the emergency room. Her blood pressure was 180/105 mmHg. There was no evidence of head trauma. Results of a peripheral blood CBC and blood chemistry analysis were within normal limits, as were the results of a blood coagulation test and urinalysis. She was pregnant and in the eighth week of gestation. Brain magnetic resonance imaging revealed SDH in the left lateral convexity and focally in the right lateral convexity, and brain herniation. Surgical drainage was performed through a burr hole, under general anesthesia. Intra-operatively, 62 mL of liquefied subdural hematoma were removed. She recovered completely without sequelae.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We fabricated polycrystalline yttrium-iron-garnet (Y<SUB>3</SUB>Fe<SUB>5</SUB>O<SUB>12</SUB>, YIG) samples using the sol-gel synthesis method to develop an energy harvesting material based on the spin Seebeck effect. We confirmed that crystallization occurred during calcination at 850 °C and that only the polycrystalline YIG structure was formed. We found that a sintering process at 1400 °C not only increased the size of the YIG particles and the densification of their microstructure but also enhanced their saturation magnetization (M<SUB>s</SUB>) and dramatically reduced their coercivity (H<SUB>c</SUB>). A mechanical pressing process was carried out between the calcination and sintering treatments to prepare a free-standing YIG fillet sample. We found that M<SUB>s</SUB> was enhanced by almost three times without an associated reduction in H<SUB>c</SUB>. We found that mechanical pressing assists the oxidation reaction during the subsequent sintering process by increasing the surface energy and densification before the heat treatment.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Yttrium-iron-garnet (YIG) was prepared using sol-gel process without an expensive GGG substrate. </LI> <LI> Optimal calcination and sintering temperatures were determined. </LI> <LI> Substrate-free YIG was fabricated by mechanical pressing. </LI> <LI> Sintering and pressing treatments improved significantly the saturation magnetization (M<SUB>s</SUB>) of YIG. </LI> <LI> The role of mechanical pressing in the enhancement of M<SUB>s</SUB> is addressed clearly. </LI> </UL> </P>

<P>Vertically aligned core-shell PbTiO3@TiO2 heterojunction nanotube arrays are fabricated on F:SnO2 (FTO) glass substrate via a unique three-step process: an electron beam vapor deposition of Ti thin film on FTO, anodic oxidation of the Ti film to TiO2 nanotubes, and finally formation of PbTiO3 perovskite layer at the inner wall of the TiO2 nanotubes. The PbTiO3@TiO2 nanotube array exhibits dramatically improved photoactivity relative to TiO2 nanotubes or PbTiO3/TiO2 composite powders in photoelectrochemical water splitting and photocatalytic isopropyl alcohol decomposition under visible light irradiation (>420 nm). In the core-shell heterojunction electrodes, PbTiO3 serves as a visible light responsive inorganic photosensitizer with its small band gap and forms a heterojunction with TiO2 for effective charge separation.</P>

<P>The direct transfer of graphene using polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) stamping has advantages such as a ‘pick-and-place’ capability and no chemical residue problems. However, it is not easy to apply direct PDMS stamping to graphene grown via chemical vapor deposition on rough, grainy metal surfaces due to poor contact between the PDMS and graphene. In this study, graphene consisting of a mixture of monolayers and multiple layers grown on a rough Ni surface was directly transferred without the use of an adhesive layer. Liquid PDMS was cured on graphene to effect a conformal contact with the graphene. A fast release of graphene from substrate was achieved by carrying out wet-etching-assisted mechanical peeling. We also carried out a thermal post-curing of PDMS to control the level of adhesion between PDMS and graphene and hence facilitate a damage-free release of the graphene. Characterization of the transferred graphene by micro-Raman spectroscopy, SEM/EDS and optical microscopy showed neither cracks nor contamination from the transfer. This technique allows a fast and simple transfer of graphene, even for multilayer graphene grown on a rough surface.</P>

Traditionally primers for PCR detection of viruses have been selected from genomic sequence of single or representative viral strain. However, high mutation rate of viral genomes often results in failure in detecting viruses in clinical and environmental samples. Thus, it seems necessary to consider primers designed from multiple viral sequences in order to improve detection of viral variants. Matchup is a program intended to select universal primers from multiple sequences. We designed using Matchup program primer pairs for HBV detection from 691 full genomic HBV DNA sequences available from NCBI GenBank database. Thousands of primer candidates were initially extracted and these were sequentially filtered down to 5 primer pairs. These primer pairs were tested by PCR using 5 HBV Korean HBsAg(+) patient sera, and eventually one universal primer pair was selected and named MUW (multiple-universal-worldwide). This primer pair, 3 HBV reference primer pairs reported by others and 1 commercial primer pair were compared using 86 HBV HBsAg(+) sera from Korean and Vietnamese patients. The detection rate for MUW primer pair was 72.1%, much greater than those obtained by reference and commercial primers (32.5 to 40.7%). The superiority of MUW primer pair appeared to be correlated with the conserved sequences of the forward primer binding sites and primer quality score. These results suggest that the universal primers designed by the Matchup program from multiple sequences could be useful in detecting viruses from clinical samples.
