Overlay 기반의 WiBro와 WLAN 이종망 연동을 위한 Vertical 핸드오버 구현 및 성능 측정에 관한 연구

유비쿼터스 사회를 위한 미래 네트워크는 다양한 이종 무선망이 혼합된 형태가 될 것으로 예상되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 개별 무선망의 특징을 최대한 활용하여 1,270,000㎡ 면적의 KAIST(Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) 대학교 캠퍼스에 IEEE 802.16e/WiBro와 IEEE 802.11/WLAN 를 복합적으로 설치하여 건물외부에서는 WiBro, 건물내부에서는 WLAN으로 자동 스위칭 되는 Vertical 핸드오버 System을 구축하고 이동 성능을 분석하였다. 이종망 통합 과정에서 제조사 및 통신사업자의 사정으로 인하여 Mobile IP를 지원하지 않는 라우터들이 존재하였고, 특히 현재 WiBro에 사용되는 ACR(Access Control Router)은 Mobile IP를 지원하지 않기 때문에 이를 해결하기 위하여 Overlay 기반의 Mobility 기법을 적용하였다. 본 연구에서는 실제로 대규모 통신망을 구현하고, 이에 대한 성능시험을 시행한 후 handover delay 시간 분석을 통한 현장 적용 가능성 및 개선 필요사항을 도출하였다. 그 결과 이종망간 핸드오버 시간은 평균 2.58초로써 일반 데이터 서비스는 이종망간 연속성이 보장됨을 확인하였고, 음성∙영상과 같은 실시간 서비스는 중간에 지연시간이 발생하나 응용서비스 세션 자체는 유지됨을 확인하였다. In this paper we build both IEEE 802.16e/WiBro and IEEE 802.11/WLAN network on the KAIST(Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) campus(1,270,000m2) as well as established the vertical handover system which supported WLAN in the building and WiBro outside the building. A Mobile IP is considered for the efficient vertical mobility function in IEEE 802.16/WiBro and IEEE 802.11/WLAN environment. However, during the deployment of WiBro, only some of the ACRs(Access Control Router) can support the Mobile IP function. Therefore, WiBro network can not support the mobility function for the mobile node. In this paper, we implement an overlay-based Mobile IP function and measure the performance through a field trial. Moreover, we evaluate the possibility of commercial deployment and suggest areas that need to be improved. The average handover time between WiBro and WLAN was 2.58 seconds. As a result, the user application session maintained but real time applications were delayed during the handover time.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate if transcutaneous application of low-intensity ultrasound can locally enhance the effects of finasteride on hair growth in a murine model of androgenic alopecia (AA).Methods: AA mice (injected twice per week with testosterone enanthate, n=11), under daily oral administration of finasteride, received 1-MHz ultrasound for 1 hour at the unilateral thigh area five times per week for 5 weeks. Non-thermal and non-cavitational ultrasound was delivered in a pulsed manner (55-ms pulse duration with a repetition frequency of 4 Hz). Skin temperature was measured during sonication, and the measurements were validated with numerical simulations of sonication-induced tissue temperature changes. Hair growth was assessed both photographically and histologically.Results: We found more hair growth on the sonicated thigh area than on the unsonicated thigh, beginning from week 3 through the end of the experiment. Histological analyses showed that the number of hair follicles doubled in the skin sections that received sonication compared to the unsonicated zone, with thicker follicular diameter and skin. An over five-fold increase was also observed in the anagen/telogen ratio in the sonicated area, suggesting an enhanced anagen phase. Skin temperature was unaltered by the administered sonication.Conclusion: The findings of the present study suggest that pulsed application of ultrasound promotes hair growth, potentially by disrupting the binding of albumin to finasteride. This may suggest further applications to enhance the pharmacological effects of other relevant drugs exhibiting high plasma protein binding.
Clinical significance of the lymph node ratio in N1 breast cancer

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the prognostic value of the lymph node ratio (LNR), which was defined as the proportion of involved nodes of all dissected nodes, in pN1 breast cancer. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of patients with pN1 breast cancer (n = 144) treated at Keimyung University Dongsan Medical Center, Daegu, Korea between 2001 and 2010. The median age was 46 years (range, 27 to 66 years). The LNR was 0.01–0.15 (low LNR) in 130 patients and >0.15 (high LNR) in 14 patients. Sixty-five patients (45.1%) had T1 tumors, 74 (51.4%) had T2 tumors, and 5 (3.5%) had T3 tumors. Eighty-eight patients (61.1%) underwent total mastectomy and 56 (38.9%) underwent partial mastectomy. Fifty-nine patients (41.0%) underwent radiotherapy and 12 (8.3%) underwent regional radiotherapy. The median follow-up period was 65 months. Results: The 5- and 10-year disease-free survival (DFS) rates were 92.7% and 82.4%, respectively. Univariate analyses revealed that high LNR (p = 0.004), total mastectomy (p = 0.006), no local radiotherapy (p = 0.036), and stage T2 or T3 (p = 0.010) were associated with worse DFS. In multivariable analysis, only high LNR (p = 0.015) was associated with worse DFS. Conclusion: High LNR is an independent prognostic factor in pN1 breast cancer and could be an indication for adjuvant radiotherapy in these patients.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>This work reports on the in-situ chemical synthesis and their properties of the core (active material)/shell (conductive material) type Co<SUB>3</SUB>O<SUB>4</SUB>/graphene quantum dots (QDs). The stable oxygen bridge bonds between the Co<SUB>3</SUB>O<SUB>4</SUB> core and the oxygen-related functional groups on the graphene shells facilitate the efficient charge/discharge performance. The efficient electron transfer process between the Co<SUB>3</SUB>O<SUB>4</SUB> core and the graphene shell lead to an improvement in the electrochemical activity. The specific capacitances of Co<SUB>3</SUB>O<SUB>4</SUB>/graphene QDs electrode, without conductive additives, exhibit high values of 2435 F g<SUP>−1</SUP> at current densities of 1 A g<SUP>−1</SUP>. It breaks through 126% of the initial capacitance after 500 cycles and show above 112% even after 4500 cycles. The excellent performance of the Co<SUB>3</SUB>O<SUB>4</SUB>/G QDs electrode is attributed to the significant improvement of the electrochemical activity, without conductive additives, due to the presence of metal oxide QD covered by graphene shells which leads to the good electrical properties.</P>
남북한 초등학교 3학년 과학 교과서 비교 - 탐구 경향성을 중심으로 -

The purpose of this study is to examine how elementary school science textbooks are designed to facilitate students’ inquiry abilities in South and North Korea. For this, we investigated the weight of sub-area science in the entire units, the tendency of inquiry using Romey’s analysis method, differences in the composition of units to improve inquiry capabilities, and differences in how concepts and inquiry are applied to solve real-life problems. As a result of the analysis, North Korean science textbooks showed different weights in each area of physics, chemistry, biology, and earth science. The inquiry tendency of South Korean and North Korean textbooks was similar, but North Korean textbooks were described more exploratively in visual materials than South Korea. South Korean textbooks suggested more diverse inquiry activities than North Korean textbooks. North Korean textbooks are more exploratory in the title of the unit, while South Korean textbooks are concept-oriented and abstract. North Korean science textbooks provided opportunities to use concepts and inquiry skills learned to solve real-life problems. As a result of this study, it can be seen that elementary school science textbooks in South Korea and North Korea show differences in their tendency of inquiry. The findings are expected to contribute to the development and improvement of the next curriculum and textbooks.
