        In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG), we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by menas of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. In 1998, 93 strians of N. genorrhoeae were isolated, among which 60(64.5%) were PPNG. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 64.5% in 1998.

        The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the response of Precast Prestressed Concrete Interior Wide Beam-Column Joint subjected to cyclic lateral loading. To this end, the experimental investigation was performed with six half-scale specimens of interior connection. The design parameters are the beam to column depth ratio, and the number of tendons within column core. One of the specimens, IJH-6, is modeled for the connection at the top floor of a structure. The test results showed that the specimens sufficiently resist up to limiting drift ratio of 0.035 in accordance with the provisional standard by ACI of acceptance criteria for concrete special moment frames.

        Insulation Coating of Fe–Si–Cr Soft Magnetic Powder by Selective Oxidation

        This study examines the insulation coating technology of Fe–Si–Cr powder via selective oxidation annealing, which oxidizeselements selectively by controlling the oxidation potential. The study calculated the oxidation driving force of Fe, Si, andCr, and conducted a thermodynamic analysis of oxidation and reduction conditions according to temperature and oxidationpotential. Based on the results, a selective oxidation annealing was performed in an atmosphere in which Fe is reduced andonly Si and Cr are selectively oxidized. The oxidation potential was controlled through the partial pressure ratio of hydrogenand water vapor. The XPS analysis results confirmed that a Si and Cr complex oxide layer formed on the powder surfaceafter the selective oxidation annealing. Afterward, withstanding voltages were analyzed to evaluate the insulation property. Then, the withstanding voltage of the powder applying the selective oxidation annealing increased significantly comparedto that of the initial powder. Further analysis showed that the powder annealed in an air atmosphere had a significantly lowersaturation magnetic flux density than the initial powder, while the powder applying the selective oxidation annealing hadonly a slightly reduced saturation magnetic flux density.

      • 마늘 주산단지 재배실태 및 종구 특성조사

        지역별로 이용되고 있는 종구의 특성이 다르고 파종과 멀칭방법, 그리고 작휴의 형태등의 재배형태도 달랐다. 품종의 차이로 인해 남부지방의 종구마늘은 중부지방의 종구에 비해 크고 굵은 인편을 사용하고 있으며, 파종방법은 모든 지역에서 손으로 파종하고 있다. 그러나 무안의 경우는 파종전에 유공비닐을 멀칭한후 씨마늘을 파종하여 후에 싹을 유인하는 작업을 생략하고 있으나 그외 지역에서는 모두 파종후 비닐멀칭을 하고 싹이 나온후 비닐밖으로 유인해 주는 작업을 하고 있다. 그리고 재배되는 토양은 대체로 식양토이며 기계화 작업이 가능한 편이나 논의 경우는 습지일 경우가 문제시 되며 밭의 경우는 경사와 굴곡이 문제시 될 것으로 보이나 기계화 작업에 별 지장이 없을 것으로 판단되었다. 또한 작업에 소요되는 노동시간은 전체적으로 300평당 223시간 정도가 소요되며 이중 여자가 159시간으로 대부분을 차지하고 있으며, 작업의 종류중에서 파종과 관련되 작업의 비율이 전체의 40% 정도에 달하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 지역별로 보면 가장 노동시간이 적게 투하되는 곳이 무안이며 다음이 남해이고 한지인 의성과 단양에서는 마늘 수확후의 건조와 조제에 드는 시간이 많아 남부지방에서 비해 전체적으로 노동시간이 많이 투하되었다. In order to survey on the lavor and cropping system for growing garlic in some chief garlic producing districts in Korea and the character of seed garlic, this investigation was carried out. 1. Garlic in the investigated regions was grown at the paddy or upland field which was slightly even and straight, therefore there may be no problems for working machines besides soil water holding status at the time of planting. 2. For making a ridge, Euisung area was wider and higher ridge than other regions. And planting density was more denser in regions grown northern ecotype garlic cultivar than in southern regions. 3. The plastic film covering method for growning garlic was adopted in all areas, but in Muan region it was different from others. Namely, plastinc film covering punched holes which can be able to plant seed cloves directly at the proper distance was done in Muan. 4. In sourthern region, garlic cultivar was the Chinese cultivar 'Namdo' which was more larger than Korean local cultivars that grown in the cold regions, Euisung anf Danyang. 5. For growing periods of garlic cultivation in the farm, the man lavor hours were required almost 223 hours per 10a. Total lavor hours consist of 71% by woman and 29% by man, and 35~40% of all working hours were devoted to the seeding work included with manipulation of seed clove and management after seeding in the field.

      • 고추 국내외 수집 유전자원의 특성

        국내외로부터 수집한 고추 유전자원을 포장에 재배하여 종자를 증식하는 동시에 주요 특성을 조사하였다. 헝가리에서 도입하여 1992년도에 평가한 계통들은 Hungarian Wax 혹은 Bell형으로서 바이러스에 심하게 걸려 우리포장환경에 잘 적응하지 못하였다. 1994년도에 평가한 계통들 중 브라질에서 풋마름병 저항성으로 도입한 KC350과 KC351은 직립성이며 바이러스에 강한 편이어서 매우 유망한 유전자원으로 사료되었다. 중국에서 도입한 KC376는 바이러스에 강한 편이며 대과를 착생하여 유망하게 보였다. 태국에서 도입된 계통들은 안동대에서 특성을 평가기록하였다. Accessions of pepper germplasm were planted in the field and their characteristics were recorded. Lines introduced from Hungary were very susceptible to virus diseases and as a result poor in adaptability in domestic field condition. KC350 and KC351 which were introduced from Brazil were growing errectly and tolerant to both bacterial spot and virus diseases. KC376, an introduction from China, was bearing large fruits with tolerance to virus. Introductions from Thailand were grown and evaluated in Andong Universiy, and major characters of them were recorded.

      • 初期 胎盤組織의 Adenosine Deaminase

        Two forms of adenosine deaminase (ADase) having molecular weights of 1,500,000 & 800,000 in the soluble fraction of the early placenta and plasma membrane bound ADase of the placenta were demonstrated respectively. Their properties and activity changes with gestational age have been investigated. ADases exhibit a broad pH optimum from 6 to 9 and heat labile, being completely inactivated by heat treatment at 70℃ for 10 min. Soluble fraction ADases and plasma membrane bound ADase are inhibited about 100% and 80% by s mM Cu^2+. The apparent Michaelis constant of pADase-cytotrophoblast(pADase-C) for adenosine is 110μM, and for deoxyadenosine 21μM, that of pADase-syncytiotrophoblast(pADase-S) is 80μM and 35μM, and that of plasma membrane bound ADase is 31μM and 26μM, respectively. Kinetic analysis of pADase-C and pADase-S in the presence of 10μM Cu^2+ show that the nature of the inhibition to pADase-C and pADase-S are noncompetitive and uncompetitive, respectively. The pADases (pADase-C + pADase-S) activity decreased with gestational age, the activity at term being about one-tenth that of the early placenta, while plasma membrane bound ADase increased with gestational age by about 2-fold. From above results it is discussed that pADase-C is related to cytotrophoblast, pADase-S to syncytiotrophoblast and plasma membrane bound ADase to cellular differentiation of placenta, and suggested that soluble fraction ADases of human placenta is different from plasma membrane bound ADase in their biological roles.

      • 胎盤 組織의 Protein Methylase II

        Protein methylase Ⅱ has been purified from human term placenta approximately 8,760 folds with a 14.5% yield. The enzyme shows sharp pH optimum around pH 5.8. The enzyme is easily inactivated by heat treatment for 5 minutes at 60℃, and when stored at -20℃ even in the presence of 10% glycerol, approximately 70% of activity has been lost for 8 weeks The enzyme doesn't require any divalent cations and Cu^2+ is a potent inhibitor, the activity being completely inhibited at 2 mM and 86% of the activity is recovered by addition of 4 mM EDTA. Histone IIA and myelin. basic protein arc good substrate for this enzyme. Km for S-adenosyl-L-methicnine and Ki for S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine are 2.03 x 10 exp(-6) M and 5. 8 x 10 exp(-7) M respectively. The methylated membrane protein from human placenta were analyzed by dodecyl sulfate/polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Band 1, 2, 4, 15, 17 are identified as 5 major classes of methyl-acceptor protein for protein methylase Ⅱ. The role of placental membrane prctein methylation is discussed with regard to placental function.

        I-SSR 標識子를 利用한 호도나무屬의 識別 및 類緣關係 分析

        DNA 표지자를 이용한 호도나무 품종의 유연관계 및 품종구분을 위하여 I-SSR 9개 표지를 이용하여 104개의 유의적인 표지가 얻어졌으며, 신품종 호도나무를 포함한 83개 국내외 품종(종)에 대해 DNA 지문에 의한 품종식별이 가능하였다. 수원 1호, 수원 2호, 왕호도는 모두 Conrord, McKinster 등 미국에서 도입된 대립성 품종과의 인공교배로 육성된 품종으로 유전적 유연관계가 상촌 4호 등 국내 선발종보다는 산성 4호×Concord의 교배종과 더 가까웠다. 국내 선발종 호도나무인 상촌 2호, 상촌 4호 및 산성 4호 이들 끼리 한 그룹을 이루고 있는데 이는 국내의 호도나무가 외국품종과 구분되는 유전적 동질성이 있음을 보여주었다. 영동은 개체선발로 육성되었으나 외국종과 교배에 의하여 육성된 교잡종들과 같은 무리에 속하였는데, 이는 영동 품종은 외국 품종의 교배에 의해 외래 유전자 일부가 유입된 것이 아닌가 추정된다. Concord×상촌 1호., Concord×상촌 2호, Concord×대부 1호가 한 무리를 이루었고 Lake×상촌 2호가 이들과 구분되는 것은 교배차대가 유전적으로 화분수보다는 모수의 영향을 더 많이 받고 있음을 보여준다. Using 104 fragments amplified from 9 I-SSR primers, a total of 83 cultivars in Juglans spp. including new cultivars used for the present study were identified. The new cultivars 'Suwon No.1', 'Suwon No.2', and 'Wanghodo' are hybrids between the domestic cultivars and the introduced cultivars such as 'Concord' and 'McKinster' bearing big nuts. Consequently, these cultivars were closer to the hybrid between 'Sansung 4×Concord' than to domestically selected cultivars such as 'Sangehon 4' from the viewpoint of genetic relationship. The domestic cultivars such as 'Sangchon 2', 'Sangchon 4', and 'Sansung 4' belonged to the same group and were genetically distinctive from the introduced cultivars. This suggests that there would be difference in genetic structure between the domestic and the introduced cultivars. The cultivar 'Yeongdong' was clustered into the group of hybrids between the domestic and the introduced cultivars although it was developed by the selection of a tree from a domestic population. This might be because the genes were introduced from the introduced cultivars into the domestic population via open-pollination. The 'Concordx×Sangchon 1', 'Concord×Sangchon 2', and 'Concord×Daebu 1' were Clustered into the same group whereas 'Lake×Sangchon 2' was clustered into the different group. This ndicates that the genetic characteristics of hybrids may be influence more strongly by the mother tree than by the father tree.
