Simulation of a Mobile IoT System Using the DEVS Formalism

This paper proposes two novel methods to model and simulate a mobile Internet of Things (IoT) system using the discrete event system specification (DEVS) formalism. In traditional simulation methods, it is advantageous to partition the simulation area hierarchically to reduce simulation time; however, in this case, the structure of the model may change as the IoT nodes to be modeled move. The proposed methods reduce the simulation time while maintaining the model structure, even when the IoT nodes move. To evaluate the performance of the proposed methods, a prototype mobile IoT system was modeled and simulated. The simulation results show that the proposed methods achieve good performance, even if the number of IoT nodes or the movement of IoT nodes increases.

<P>The marginal mandibular branch (MMB) has a particular risk of injury during surgical procedures in the submandibular region, especially over the lower border of the mandible. The facial nerve has been described in many studies, but the MMB is dealt with generally as a branch of the facial nerve. The purpose of this study was to document the anatomy of the MMB by correlation with anatomical landmarks. Eighty-five facial halves were examined for this study. The MMB was classified according to the number of branches and their connections with other branches, and by its relationship with landmarks of the gonion, facial artery, and retromandibular vein. The MMB showed one (28%), two (52%), three (18%), or four branches (2%) where it exited the parotid gland. Classification was based on connection with other branches. Type I (60%) did not communicate with other branches. Type II (40%) communicated with the buccal or cervical branches, or with another branch of the MMB. The cervicofacial division coursed along the lateral aspect of the retromandibular vein in 83% of specimens. The MMB passed the facial artery superficially (42%), passed it deeply in 4%, and ran on both sides of it in 54% of the facial halves. The distribution of the MMB formed a quadrilateral with angles +19.8 mm, −8.1 mm, +30.0 mm, and −15.3 mm measured from two sides on the inferior border of the mandible. Inhibitory effects of α-viniferin and resveratrol on the L-dopa oxidase activity of tyrosinase

Tyrosinase catalyses the rate-limiting step in the biosynthesis of melanin, a determinant of skin colour which is involved in local human hyperpigmentation diseases. We have analysed the effects of α-viniferin and resveratrol on the L-dopa oxidase activity of tyrosinase. Both α-viniferin and resveratrol had dose-dependent inhibitory effects on the enzyme activity, showing 50% of inhibition as compared with the control at concentrations of 7.3 × 10^(-5) M and 7.2 × 10^(-5) M respectively. According to a kinetic study of tyrosinase with L-dopa as a substrate, α-viniferin had a K_(EI) value of 1.0 × 10^(-4) to 1.1 × 10^(-4) M and a K_(EIS) value of 5.8 × 10^(-5) to 5.9 × 10^(-5) M, and resveratrol a K_(EI) value of 6.9 × 10^(-5) to 7.4 × 10^(-5) M and a K_(EIS) value of 4.6 × 10^(-5) to 5.0 × 10^(-5) M. Therefore, α-viniferin and resveratrol were similar in their inhibitory potency on the L-dopa oxidase activity of tyrosinase. Both were identified as mixed-type inhibitors, exhibiting a K_(EI) value larger than the K_(EIS) value on the enzyme activity with L-dopa as a substrate. Construction of Concurrent Programs Based on a Modeling and Simulation Formalism

This paper proposes a framework for developing a concurrent program using the discrete event system specification (DEVS) formalism. Within the proposed framework, a concurrent program is modeled by the DEVS formalism, and the modeling result is validated through simulation in a DEVS abstract simulator environment, called DEVSim++. Then, the validated modeling results are translated to multi-threaded program codes written in a conventional programming language. For that, each DEVS model which specifies behavior of a component is converted to a single thread, called an atomic thread, and every connection information between the components are clustered together and converted to a data structure, called a port mapping table. This paper also proposes an efficient solution which combines several atomic threads into a new thread, called a combined thread.

이 논문에서는 계층변조를 적용하는 AT-DMB (advanced terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting) 시스템을 위한 자력 채널추정 기법을 제시하고 그 성능을 살펴본다. AT-DMB 시스템은 기존 T-DMB 시스템과의 호환성을 유지하기 데이터 전송채널의 경우 DQPSK 변조를 적용한 각 신호점을 다시 QPSK 변조하는 16-QAM 계층변조 방식을 적용한다. 또 프레임의 동기신호 및 정보채널은 기존 T-DMB 신호와 동일하게 유지한다. 이 신호들을 이용하여 자력 추정을 위한 채널의 초기치를 계산한다. 데이터 신호에 대해서는 일단 판정궤환 모드를 적용하여 채널을 추정한 후 시간 및 주파수 영역에서 인접 심볼 및 부반송파에 걸쳐 평균을 취함으로써 잡음의 영향을 감소시킨다. 모의실험을 통해 제시한 자력 채널추정 방식의 성능을 살펴본다.
Wet Station 장비를 제어하기 위한 모니터링 시스템의 설계

본 논문에서는 웨이퍼를 세정하는데 사용되는 Wet Station 장비의 상태를 감지하고, 이를 간접적으로 제어하기 위한 모니터링 시스템의 설계에 관하여 기술한다. 대부분의 기존 모니터링 시스템은 하드웨어 및 소프트웨어에 의존되어 있다. 제시한 모니터링 시스템의 기본 설계 목표는 사용자의 편의성과 시스템의 이식성을 제공하는 것이다. 이러한 요구조건을 만족시키기 위하여, 본 논문에서는 IBM PC 호환 기종의 윈도우즈 NT 환경에서 GUL 기능과, TCP/IP 통신 프로토콜을 기본으로 한 EtherNet 보드를 이용하여 시스템을 설계하였다. This paper describes the design of the monitoring system for monitoring the current status and indirect controlling of the Wet Station Equipment which is used for cleaning the wafer. Most of the conventional monitoring system depend on the special hardware and software. Basic design goal of monitoring system is provide the convenience for the use and the portability for the system. In order for the system to fulfil its requirements, it was designed using GUI (Graphical User Interface) facility based on the windows NT environment of IBM PC compatible and EtherNet board based on the TCP/IP protocol.
DEVS 형식론 기반 멀티쓰레드 소프트웨어 개발 방법을 이용한 스토리지 서버 프로그램 구현

최근 스토리지 서버에 사용되는 코어가 싱글코어에서 점차 발전하여 멀티코어가 됨에 따라 스토리지 서버에 많은 기능들이 추가되었다. 이러한 기능들을 효과적으로 사용하기 위해서는 스토리지 서버를 효율적으로 관리하는 프로그램이 필요하다. 이에 멀티코어를 효과적으로 사용하여 스토리지 서버를 효율적으로 관리할 수 있도록 멀티쓰레드 프로그램으로 스토리지 서버 프로그램을 구현하였다. 멀티쓰레드 소프트웨어는 동시 동작으로 인해 개발하는데 어려움이 있으므로 이를 해결코자 DEVS 형식론 기반의 멀티쓰레드 소프트웨어 개발 방법을 이용하였다. DEVS 형식론 기반의 모델링과 시뮬레이션을 거치고 소프트웨어를 구현하여 개발의 어려움과 검증에 대한 부분을 해결하였다.
