An Application of the Smart Beta Portfolio Model: An Empirical Study in Indonesia Stock Exchange

Ika Puteta WASPADA,Dwi Fitrizal SALIM,Putri FARISKA 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.9

Stock price fluctuations affect investor returns, particularly, in this pandemic situation that has triggered stock market shocks. As a result of this situation, investors prefer to move their money into a safer portfolio. Therefore, in this study, we approach an efficient portfolio model using smart beta and combining others to obtain a fast method to predict investment stock returns. Smart beta is a method to selects stocks that will enter a portfolio quickly and concisely by considering the level of return and risk that has been set according to the ability of investors. A smart beta portfolio is efficient because it tracks with an underlying index and is optimized using the same techniques that active portfolio managers utilize. Using the logistic regression method and the data of 100 low volatility stocks listed on the Indonesia stock exchange from 2009–2019, an efficient portfolio model was made. It can be concluded that an efficient portfolio is formed by a group of stocks that are aggressive and actively traded to produce optimal returns at a certain level of risk in the long-term period. And also, the portfolio selection model generated using the smart beta, beta, alpha, and stock variants is a simple and fast model in predicting the rate of return with an adjusted risk level so that investors can anticipate risks and minimize errors in stock selection.

      • Does corporate governance affect bank risk management? Case study of Indonesian banks

Ika Permatasari 경희대학교 글로벌 통상·금융연구원 2020 International Trade, Politics and Development Vol.4 No.2

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between corporate governance and risk management of Indonesian banks.Implementation of good corporate governance is measured by good corporate governance composite rating, which is the result of bank's self-assessment. Bank risk managements are measured by market risk, credit risk, liquidity risk and operational risk. The study results showed that good corporate governance implementation in Indonesia was able to influence bank risk. There were differences in credit risk, liquidity risk and operational risk in banks with different governance ratings, but not at market risk. The effectiveness of risk management and good corporate governance implementation is needed to enable banks to identify problems early, to follow up on rapid improvements and to be more resilient to crises. This study is an analysis of the relationship between corporate governance and banks' risk management in Indonesia. In particular, risk management is measured by four risks: market risk, credit risk, liquidity risk and operation risk.

      • Young, Different, Dangerous

Ika Ayu KRISTIANINGRUM 이화여자대학교 아시아여성학센터 2012 이화여자대학교 아시아여성학센터 학술대회자료집 Vol.2012 No.10

Young, different and dangerous are popular quotations from Indonesian rock band named Superman Is Dead. The quotes seems precise on describing the situation of Indonesias youth today; passionate, dares to be different and challenging hazards. Historically, Indonesian history is driven by youth engagement. The fall of the New Order regime had became the political momentum for Indonesias reform. And it resurrection is driven by youth. Until today, youth are the hope for the idea of the new Indonesia. Youth involvement in social movements is actually a common phenomenon. However, the typical notion of reproducing the social movement ideas had coloured the recent era. The diverse issues in social movements such as the environment, human rights, against corruption, and interfaith been very dynamic in the presence of youth. Also in the field of womens struggle movement. In the womens movement, the youths presence gave a new color. Colors that can be read as a critique of the stagnation womens movement in Yogyakarta. Seniority and the shadows of the past glory of the movement had being reconstructed through more contemporary issues. The extent of the issue brings an implication both for models and strategies in the womens movement. Even hirakrial dialectic does not run as it seems, but the existence of youth represent an idea that against the mainstream which is commonly known in the womens movement. Youth efforts as the agency who are trying to negotiate their own definition, action and strategic issues of womens movement will be the focus in this paper. Some of the youth who involved in the womens movement in Yogyakarta will be the agencies representation who narrates the spirit of youth; theyre still young, theyre different and theyre endanger the established situation.

      • Building Solidarity and Cooperation to Stop Sexual Violence in Universities

Ika Ayu KRISTIANINGRUM 이화여자대학교 아시아여성학센터 2018 이화여자대학교 아시아여성학센터 학술대회자료집 Vol.2018 No.1

Discussing about violence against women, especially sexual violence that happens in Indonesia, leads us to a stack of tangled thread that seems to be difficult to find a way out. That condition leads to a more serious threat nowadays as the rising number of sexual violence cases that are reported happen in many schools in all levels. Related to the issues of sexual violence, schools or campuses as the primary institutions where most people spend their time everyday are considered to be the institutions that produce the violence. Since the minimum knowledge about body autonomy and comprehensive sexual education given by these institutions are considered as one factor that causes the rise of the sexual violence cases. This article attempts to elaborate the work of campus activism responding to sexual violence cases. This attempt aims to find a possibility of cooperative work to advocate for sexual violence cases in campuses, including the building of solidarity and support to the Draft of Anti-Sexual Violence Bill in the national level that is now still on hold.

Long-Acting Nitrate Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomography Myocardial Viability Study: A Serial Case Report

        Ika Komala,Erwin Soeriadi,Astri Astuti,Achmad Hussein Kartamihardja 아시아심장혈관영상의학회 2024 Cardiovascular Imaging Asia Vol.8 No.2

Objective: A nitrate-augmented 99mTc-sestamibi cardiac single-photon emission computed tomography imaging protocol has been shown to improve detection of viable cardiac segments. This protocol usually makes use of a short-acting nitrate and requires patients to stop prescribed long-acting nitrate medication for at least two days prior to the study. No previous studies have used long-acting nitrate in myocardial viability research. Materials and Methods: Ten adult patients who had routinely used long-acting nitrate medication participated in this nitrate-augmented myocardial viability study. A long-acting nitrate was given one hour prior to 99mTc-sestamibi injection, and results were evaluated based on uptake changes after nitrate augmentation. Myocardial reversibility was assessed using visual scoring with a 17-segment model, with increased uptake ≥10% considered viable. Results: Eight of 10 patients had a greater than 10% increase in uptake compared to baseline, and nine of 10 patients showed significant changes in sum rest score (SRS) and sum rest nitrate score (SRNS) p<0.001. In most patients, blood pressure dropped significantly after nitrate administration. One patient with no uptake changes or myocardial reversibility based on SRS and SRNS demonstrated increased blood pressure after nitrate administration. Conclusion: Oral long-acting nitrates are a feasible option for nitrate-augmented myocardial viability studies. Patients on long-acting nitrate therapy who require myocardial viability study do not need to discontinue the medication prior to the study. Further evaluations with larger samples are needed to confirm these findings.

Recent progress on drugs discovery study for treatment of COVID‑19: repurposing existing drugs and current natural bioactive molecules

Oktavianawati Ika,Santoso Mardi,Bakar Mohd Fadzelly Abu,Kim Yong-Ung,Fatmawati Sri 한국응용생명화학회 2023 Applied Biological Chemistry (Appl Biol Chem) Vol.66 No.-

COVID-19 has been a major global health concern for the past three years, and currently we are still experiencing coronavirus patients in the following years. The virus, known as SARS-CoV-2, shares a similar genomic identity with previous viruses such as SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV. To combat the pandemic, modern drugs discovery techniques such as in silico experiments for docking and virtual screening have been employed to design new drugs against COVID-19. However, the release of new drugs for human use requires two safety assessment steps consisting of preclinical and clinical trials. To bypass these steps, scientists are exploring the potential of repurposing existing drugs for COVID-19 treatment. This approach involves evaluating antiviral activity of drugs previously used for treating respiratory diseases against other enveloped viruses such as HPV, HSV, and HIV. The aim of this study is to review repurposing of existing drugs, traditional medicines, and active secondary metabolites from plant-based natural products that target specific protein enzymes related to SARS-CoV-2. The review also analyzes the chemical structure and activity relationship between selected active molecules, particularly flavonol groups, as ligands and proteins or active sites of SARS-CoV-2.

Strength and deflection prediction of double-curvature reinforced concrete squat walls

        Bali, Ika,Hwang, Shyh-Jiann Techno-Press 2007 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.27 No.4

This study presents a model to better understand the shear behavior of reinforced concrete walls subjected to lateral load. The scope of the study is limited to squat walls with height to length ratios not exceeding two, deformed in a double-curvature shape. This study is based on limited knowledge of the shear behavior of low-rise shear walls subjected to double-curvature bending. In this study, the wall ultimate strength is defined as the smaller of flexural and shear strengths. The flexural strength is calculated using a strength-of-material analysis, and the shear strength is predicted according to the softened strut-and-tie model. The corresponding lateral deflection of the walls is estimated by superposition of its flexibility sources of bending, shear and slip. The calculated results of the proposed procedure correlate reasonably well with previously reported experimental results.

Natural Rubber Economics between China and Southeast Asia: The Impact of China’s Economic Slowdown

Siskarossa Ika OKTORA,Alfada Maghfiri FIRDANI 한국유통과학회 2019 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.6 No.2

China has become the second largest economy since 2010. China’s economy is supported by the rapid growth of its automobile industry. The rapid growth of the automobile and tire industry will increase the natural rubber (NR) demand as its primary raw materials. Although as a significant producer, China cannot fulfill the consumption by its domestic production. Thus China relies heavily on import from Southeast Asia countries as the primary producers of natural rubber in the world. China and Southeast Asia are dependent on their economy in terms of the availability of natural rubber as raw materials. But the economic slowdown in China since 2008 is expected to affect the international trading between China and Southeast Asia countries. This research aims to analyze the determinants of NR export from Southeast Asia to China using panel data analysis. The results show NR price, exchange rate, and China’s economic slowdown significantly affect NR export to China, while Southeast Asian NR production has no significant effect. China as the main importer of NR from Southeast Asia has a big role in growing NR export in Southeast Asia. If China's economy doesn’t improve soon, it will affect the economy in Southeast Asia.
