Purpose: This retrospective study aimed to compare clinical outcomes and dosimetric parameters between radiation therapy (RT) techniques in patients with thymic epithelial tumor (TET). Materials and Methods: From January 2016 to December 2020, 101 patients with TET received adjuvant RT (median, 52.8 Gy; range, 48.4 to 66.0). Three different RT techniques were compared: three-dimensional conformal RT (3D-CRT; n = 59, 58.4%), intensity-modulated RT (IMRT; n = 23, 22.8%), and proton beam therapy (PBT; n = 19, 18.8%). Results: The median age of the patients and the follow-up period were 55 years (range, 28 to 79) and 43.4 months (range, 7.7 to 77.2). Patients in the PBT group were of the youngest age (mean age, 45.4 years), while those in IMRT group had the largest clinical target volume (mean volume, 149.6 mL). Patients in the PBT group had a lower mean lung dose (4.4 Gy vs. 7.6 Gy vs. 10.9 Gy, respectively; p < 0.001), lower mean heart dose (5.4 Gy vs. 10.0 Gy vs. 13.1 Gy, respectively; p = 0.003), and lower mean esophageal dose than patients in the 3D-CRT and IMRT groups (6.3 Gy vs. 9.8 Gy vs. 13.5 Gy, respectively; p = 0.011). Twenty patients (19.8%) showed disease recurrence, and seven patients (6.9%) died. The differences in the survival rates between RT groups were not statistically significant. Conclusion: In patients with TET who underwent adjuvant RT, PBT resulted in a lower dose of exposure to adjacent organs at risk. Survival outcomes for patients in PBT group were not significantly different from those in other groups.
수소버스용 내압용기 복합재의 열적환경에 따른 기계적 물성 연구

수소가스용 압력용기의 안전성 평가를 위해 다양한 내구성 시험이 요구된다. 고온 정압 시험은 고압(875 bar) 하에 고온(85oC 이상)에서 장시간(1,000시간) 유지하여 수소 용기의 내구성을 시험하는 방법이며 승용차용 용기에 한정되어 있다. 하지만 대용량 수소버스용 용기와 관련된 고온 정압 시험의 국제 기준은 논의 초기 단계이며, 시험의 효율성 및 신뢰성 측면에서 가속시험 기준 제시 등의 현실적 보완이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 수소버스용 내압용기의 고온 정압 시험 기준을 정립하기 위해 열적환경에 노출된 내압용기 복합재의 기계적 물성평가를 진행하였다. 복합재의 인장강도는 수지의 유리전이온도에 가까워질수록 수지의 열화로 인해 강도가 감소한다. 또한 장시간 유지 시 수지의 후경화로 인해 인장강도의 재상승을 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서 대용량 수소버스용 압력용기의 고온 정압 시험은 탄소섬유 복합재의 에폭시 수지 물성을 바탕으로 시험 조건을 설정해야 한다. In this study, the mechanical properties of the pressure vessel composite exposed to the thermal environment were evaluated to establish the standard for high temperature static pressure test of the pressure vessel for hydrogen bus. As the tensile strength of the composite material approaches the glass transition temperature of the epoxy resin, the strength decreases due to the deterioration of the epoxy resin. In addition, it was confirmed that the tensile strength increased again due to the post-curing of the epoxy resin during long-term exposure. Therefore, the accelerated stress rupture test conditions of the pressure vessel for the hydrogen bus should be set based on the epoxy resin properties of the carbon fiber composite material.

The lap joint welding of 6k2l aluminum sheets by Nd: YAG laser were performed with an aluminum 5183 filler wire or without a filler wire. The porosity of laser welding beads were observed through an optical microscope and X-ray photography with various levels of welding speed and gap size. The porosity was observed in the gap between upper and lower sheet near a heat affected zone when autogenous welding. Decrease of welding speed and use of AA5183 filler wire reduced porosity significantly.
Entropic Lower Bound for Distinguishability of Quantum States

<P>For a system randomly prepared in a number of quantum states, we present a lower bound for the distinguishability of the quantum states, that is, the success probability of determining the states in the form of entropy. When the states are all pure, acquiring the entropic lower bound requires only the density operator and the number of the possible states. This entropic bound shows a relation between the von Neumann entropy and the distinguishability.</P>
