컴퓨터 赤外線 全身體熱撮影과 FNT을 통해 살펴본 Bell's palsy에 대한 침치료의 臨床的 考察

Object : This study is designed to evaluate the clinical therapy of acupuncture by the data of DITI(Digital Infrared Thermographic Imaging) and FNT(Facial Nerve stimulation Test) examination and the changes of clinical symptoms after the therapy of acupuncture in the patients with Bell's palsy. Contents : The conservative therapy with acupuncture was performed during 1-8weeks. The acupuncture points of S4, S6, G14, S2, BL2, SI18, TE23, LI4 and S36 were used. In the pre- and post therapy, DITI examinations was performed in patients who had Bell's palsy and were treated by acupuncture, and then tried to correlate the results of clinical symptoms with the difference of thermographic findings. And FNT examinations were performed in the same patients above, and then tried to correlate the results of clinical symptoms with the difference of nerve response findings. Setting : The standard routine thermographic examination with thermography (DITI) and nerve response with FNT(Facial Nerve Stimulation Test) were performed in the 16 patients with Bell's palsy at pre- and post acupuncture. Patients : Thermographic imaging of 16cases was analyzed. They had diagnosed Bell's palsy. They were treated by acupuncture and moxibustion therapy in Wonkwang Oriental Hospital from Jauary, 1999 to February, 2000. Results : 1) The results of treatment showes that 56.25% of patients achieved clinical excellent recovery and 31.25% achieved good recovery. After compairing the DITI results before and after treatment, we found 43.75% of patients achieved excellent recovery and 43.75% achieved good recovery. 2) After compairing the FNT results before and after treatment, we found 25% of patients achieved excellent recovery and 56.25% achieved good recovery. Conclusion : 1) Acupuncture showed good results over 87.5% in clinical evaluation and 87.5% in DITI. Thermographic examination showes terapeutic effect of acupuncture treatment. 2) Acupuncture showed good results over 87.5% in clinical evaluation and 81.25% in FNT. FNT showes nerve response recovery effect of acupuncture treatment.

Theophylline is commonly used to treat severe asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)characterized by non-eosinophilic inflammation. Acetyl salicylic acid (ASA) is one of the most widely used medications worldwide, but up to 20% of patients with asthma experience aggravated respiratory symptoms after taking ASA. Here we evaluated the adverse effect of ASA on the therapeutic effect of theophylline in mice with non-eosinophilic asthma. A non-eosinophilic asthma mouse model was induced by airway sensitization with lipopolysaccharide-containing allergen and then challenged with allergen alone. Therapeutic intervention was performed during allergen challenge. Theophylline inhibited lung inflammation partly induced by Th1 immune response. ASA attenuated the beneficial effects of theophylline. However,co-administration of the ASA metabolite salicylic acid (SA) showed no attenuating effect on theophylline treatment. The therapeutic effect of theophylline was associated with increase in cAMP levels, which was blocked by co-treatment of theophylline and ASA. ASA co-treatment also attenuated the anti-inflammatory effects of a specific phosphodiesterase 4 inhibitor. These results demonstrate that ASA reverses anti-inflammatory effects of theophylline, and that ASA exerts its adverse effects through the inhibition of cAMP production. Our data suggest that ASA reverses lung inflammation in patients taking theophylline, although clinical evidence will be needed.

Immunotherapeutic approaches using agonist antibodies or fusion proteins of immunomodulatory molecules significantly inhibit tumor growth and boost cell-mediated immunity. We isolated mRNA from previously reported 1D4 hybridoma cells and amplified the variable regions of the heavy chain (VH) and light chain (VL) genes using reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction. Using a linker, the amplified sequences for the heavy and light chains were each connected to the sequence for a single polypeptide chain that was designed to be expressed. VL and VH fragments were cloned into the pOptiVEC-TOPO vector containing the human CH2-CH3 fragment. Then, 293T cells were transfected with the 1D4 single-chain Fv-Fc (scFv-Fc) constructs. A549 cells were used for presentation of the 1D4 antigen. Flow cytometry was performed for analysis of the secreted 1D4 scFv-Fc constructs. The DNA sequence of 1D4 scFv-Fc was obtained. The 1D4 scFv-Fc constructs were expressed by the transfected 293T cells and secreted into the culture medium. The immunoreactivity of the secreted scFv-Fc construct was lower than that of the murine 1D4 antibody for A549 cells. A 1D4 scFv-Fc construct for immunotherapy was developed.

<P>An electrochemical COD (chemical oxygen demand) sensor using an electrode-surface grinding unit was investigated. The electrolyzing (oxidizing) action of copper on an organic species was used as the basis of the COD measuring sensor. Using a simple three-electrode cell and a surface grinding unit, the organic species is activated by the catalytic action of copper and oxidized at a working electrode, poised at a positive potential. When synthetic wastewater was fed into the system, the measured Coulombic yields were found to be dependent on the COD of the synthetic wastewater. A linear correlation between the Coulombic yields and the COD of the synthetic wastewater was established (10–1000 mg L<SUP>−1</SUP>) when the electrode-surface grinding procedure was activated briefly at 8 h intervals. When various kinds of wastewater samples obtained from various sewage treatment plants were measured, linear correlations (<I>r</I><SUP>2</SUP> ≥ 0.92) between the measured EOD (electrochemical oxygen demand) value and COD of the samples were observed. At a practical wastewater treatment plant, the measurement system was successfully operated with high accuracy and good stability over 3 months. These experimental results show that the application of the measurement system would be a rapid and practical method for the determination of COD in water industries.</P> <P>Graphic Abstract</P><P>An electrochemical COD (chemical oxygen demand) sensor using an electrode-surface grinding unit was investigated. We analyzed the nucleotide sequences of about 500 bp of the mitochondrial NADH dehydrogenase subunit 3 (ND3) gene to estimate the genetic variation of Korean masu salmon (Oncorhynchus masou) populations. DNA samples were collected from 104 river-only specimens and 52 anadromous specimens from three hatcheries and one river. There are no records of artificial release into the river. We amplified the ND3 gene by polymerase chain reaction, targeting areas that included parts of the cytochrome oxidase III gene and the NADH dehydrogenase subunit 4L gene, and defined 14 haplotypes based on 12 variable nucleotide sites in the examined region. Among the haplotypes, ten were specific to river-only specimens within hatchery populations. Haplotype diversity of river-only populations in hatcheries was higher than that of anadromous and wild populations. Pairwise population $F_{ST}$ estimates and neighbor-joining tree analyses inferred that anadromous and river-only populations were distinct. These results suggest that sequence polymorphism in the ND3 region may be a useful marker for analyzing the genetic variation and population structure of masu salmon.
