Objective : The purpose of this study was to evidence the effect of Dong-Shi Acupuncture by improving degree of forty four patients who have received a Dong-Shi Acupuncture therapy at Dong Eui oriental hospital OPD and chiefly complained for neck pain and related symptoms. Materials and Methods: Forty four patients were diagnosed with physical inspection and readiography, and investigated into the effect of treatment sharing before treatment and after 2 weeks and 4 weeks treatment by Dr. Kim's method. Results and Conclusions: The conclusion of this study was that improving degree of forty four patients who have received a Dong-Shi acupuncture therapy for all items and excellence of the Dong-Shi Acupuncture was evidenced.

유산양 유방염에 대한 Chitosan 약침의 치료 효과

To improve the therapeutic method for mastitis, treatment effect of chitosan pharmacopuncture was examined in three milking goats(A,B and C). Mastitis was artificially induced in two milking goats(A and B) and one goat(C) was naturally infected case with mastitis. The acupoint used was Yang-Ming and chitosan suspensions(provided from Tottory University, Japan: 30㎎ of chitosan/㎖)were injected to the acupoint with 5㎖/time for 3 days, respectively. As for the change of somatic cells in milk along with chitosan pharmacopuncture, they showed a decreasing tendency after increase on the 3rd day in all udders of B. In addition, as for the change of total leukocyte counts of peripheral blood with chitosan pharmacopuncture, they showed a decreasing tendency after increase on the 3rd day in B and C except A which showed a increasing tendency until on the 7th day. In the change of neutrophil/lymphocyte(N/L) ratio, increasing tendency was seen in A and C but increasing tendency after slight decrease was observed in B. Further, in the change of serum total protein and A/G ratio, serum total protein content was decreased after slightly increase on the 3rd day in A, and they were decreased after increase until on the 7th day in B and C, respectively. As for the change of A/G ratio, different pattern increasing tendency was shown in A, B and C.

The objective of this study is to test for thermal conductivity of architecture insulation materials in domestic buildings with environmental condition change. In study, we measured change of thermal conductivity with test temperature change, long-time leaving and change of contained water rate. For long-time leaving test, the specimens of building insulation materials were kept in test conditions, which were influenced by the outside environment. The results of the study show 1) the contained water rate of artificial mineral fiber insulations was big for others, 2) thermal conductivity rose as test temperature(median) grew up and 3) the extruding insulations and hardened Urethane foam changed thermal conductivity with environmental condition and time elapse.

頭鍼이 中風患者의 단기간 NIHSS와 MBI에 미치는 영향

Objective ; The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of Scalp acupuncture on recovery of motor disorders in stroke patients. Methods ; Twenty two patients with poststroke-hemiplegia were randomized into two groups. Ten patients(test group) treated by 2 methods-Scalp acupuncture and body acupuncture. The other twelve patients(control group) treated only by body acupuncture. The activity of daily living was measured with a National Institutes of Health stroke scale(NIHSS) and Modified Barthel Index(MBI). The therapy was performed one a day for 2 weeks. Results ; In terms of score of NIHSS, the test group showed statistically meaningful decrease after 2 week treatment, but the control group showed statistically meaningful decrease after 1 week(p<0.05). And in terms of score of MBI, the test group did not show statistically meaningful increase but the control group showed statistically meaningful increase after 1 week(p<O.05). There was no statistically meaningful difference after 1 and 2 week treatment between the groups. Conclusions ; These results support that test group has almost same effectness compared with control group in improvement of the activity of daily living of poststroke-hemiplegic patients.

구내 표준 방사선사진을 이용한 구내방사선촬영기의 선질 평가

Purpose : This study was to evaluate the beam quality of intraoral X-ray equipments used at Yonsei University Dental Hospital (YUDH) using the half value layer (HVL) and the characteristic curve of intraoral standard X-ray film. Materials and Methods : The study was done using the intraoral X-ray equipments used at each clinical department at YUDH. Aluminum filter was used to determine the HVL. Intraoral standard film was used to get the characteristic curve of each intraoral X-ray equipment. Results : Most of the HVLs of intraoral X-ray equipments were higher than the least recommended thickness, but the REX 601 model used at the operative dentistry department and the X-707 model used at the pediatric dentistry department had HVLs lower than the recommended thickness. The slopes of the characteristic curves of films taken using the PANPAS 601 model and REX 601 model at operative dentistry department, the X-705 model of prosthodontic dentistry department, and the REX601 model at the student clinic were relatively low. Conclusion : HVL and the characteristic curve of X-ray film can be used to evaluate the beam quality of intraoral X-ray equipment. In order to get the best X-ray films with the least radiation exposure to patients and best diagnostic information in clinical dentistry, X-ray equipment should be managed in the planned and organized fashion. Crystal structure of human cytosolic aspartyl-tRNA synthetase, a component of multi-tRNA synthetase complex

<P>Human cytosolic aspartyl-tRNA synthetase (DRS) catalyzes the attachment of the amino acid aspartic acid to its cognate tRNA and it is a component of the multi-tRNA synthetase complex (MSC) which has been known to be involved in unexpected signaling pathways. Here, we report the crystal structure of DRS at a resolution of 2.25 Å. DRS is a homodimer with a dimer interface of 3750.5 Å<SUP>2</SUP> which comprises 16.6% of the monomeric surface area. Our structure reveals the C-terminal end of the N-helix which is considered as a unique addition in DRS, and its conformation further supports the switching model of the N-helix for the transfer of tRNA<SUP>Asp</SUP> to elongation factor 1α. From our analyses of the crystal structure and post-translational modification of DRS, we suggest that the phosphorylation of Ser146 provokes the separation of DRS from the MSC and provides the binding site for an interaction partner with unforeseen functions.</P>

Evaporation Crystallization of RDX by Ultrasonic Spray

<P>Cyclotrimethylene trinitramine (RDX) with size of 0.8 to 2.6 μm was produced by evaporation crystallization of RDX with ultrasonic spray. In the experimental range of the present work, the size of RDX crystals was found to be strongly affected by operating parameters including RDX concentration and furnace temperature. The size of RDX crystals was reduced as RDX concentration decreased and furnace temperature increased. The formation of random-shaped RDX particles due to agglomeration could be explained by coalescence between a crystal-containing droplet and a crystal or a crystal-containing droplet. In the present work, agglomeration was found to be controlled with injection of additives into starting solution: polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), which acted as a strong nucleation inhibitor in the crystallization of RDX from acetone, was very effective on the formation of spherical RDX particles. However, when the nucleation promoters such as polyoxyethylene 10 oleoyl ether (Brij 97) and oleylamine were added, highly agglomerated and random-shaped RDX particles were produced. Therefore, it can be concluded that the controlling onset time of nucleation is an important factor to improve crystal shape in evaporation crystallization by ultrasonic spray.</P>

Tunable Bandgap Narrowing Induced by Controlled Molecular Thickness in 2D Mica Nanosheets

<P>Bandgap engineering of atomically thin 2D crystals is critical for their applications in nanoelectronics, optoelectronics, and photonics. Here, we report a simple but rather unexpected approach for bandgap engineering of muscovite-type mica nanosheets (KAl<SUB>3</SUB>Si<SUB>3</SUB>O<SUB>10</SUB>(OH)<SUB>2</SUB>) via controlled molecular thickness. Through density functional calculations, we analyze electronic structures in 2D mica nanosheets and develop a general picture for tunable bandgap narrowing induced by controlled molecular thickness. From conducting atomic force microscopy, we observe an abnormal bandgap narrowing in 2D mica nanosheets, contrary to well-known quantum size effects. In mica nanosheets, decreasing the number of layers results in reduced bandgap energy from 7 to 2.5 eV, and the bilayer case exhibits a semiconducting nature with ∼2.5 eV. Structural modeling by transmission electron microscopy and density functional calculations reveal that this bandgap narrowing can be defined as a consequence of lattice relaxations as well as surface doping effects.
