We studied the inhabited environment of aquatic lampylid species, Luciola lateralis, in Andong-si (rice paddy type), Bonghwa-gun (rice paddy type) and Cheongsong-gun (stream type) from 2010 to 2012. Totally, 5 species (Gabbia misella, Semisulcospira libertina, Radix auricularia, Physa acuta, and Hippeutis cantori) in rice paddy habitats, and 4 species (S. libertina, S. forticosta, R. auricularia, and H. cantori) in stream habitats can be edible by larval L. lateralis. We selected 2 species, S. libertina and P. acuta which can be the main food resources for larval L. lateralis in paddy and stream habitats, and individually reared the L. lateralis larvae with each other edible species. After the individual rearing, we analyzed the head sizes of each larval exuviae. There is no significant difference in the 1st instar larval size (P>0.05) between the kind of provided feed (S. libertina and P. acuta). In case of 2nd instar larvae, the head size was bigger when P. acuta was provided as the feed (P<0.05). In case of 3rd and 4th instar larvae, the head size was bigger when S. libertina was provided as the feed (P<0.05). In the analysis of size of L. larteralis adult according to inhabited environment, the adult size was found to be bigger at stream type environment than rice paddy type (P<0.01).

To reveal the feeding ecology of Rhynchocypris semotilus, the survey was conducted in Songhyeoncheon, Songhyeon-ri, Hyeonnae-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do in April 2022. As a result of analyzing the contents of the stomach using the index of relative importance (IRI), the important prey organisms were mainly Trichoptera (46.6%), Ephemeroptera (27.6%), Diptera (12.6%), Odonata (9.7%), Plecoptera (2.8%), Coleoptera (0.6%), and Hemiptera (0.1%) of Class Insecta, Phylum Arthropoda in that order. As a result of analyzing the trend by calculating the index of relative importance (IRI) for each age, it was found that those born in the same year mainly feed on relatively small Ephemeroptera and Diptera, but the proportion of these gradually decreases as they grow. And the proportion of relatively large Trichoptera and Odonata gradually increased, turning them into the most important food source for those over 3 years old. Additionally, prey size was the smallest at 2.8±2.5 (0.6 to 9.0) mm for individuals born in the same year, but gradually increased to 5.1±6.1 (1.1 to 17.0) mm for individuals born more than 3 years. As a result of examining prey selectivity, Plecoptera (+0.78), Trichoptera (+0.66), Coleoptera (+0.66), and Hemiptera (+0.03) showed positive selectivity, while Amphipoda ( - 1.00), Ephemeroptera ( - 0.24), Odonata ( - 0.13) and Diptera ( - 0.05) showed negative selectivity.

Benthic macroinvertebrates were seasonally sampled from upstream and downstream of the Gunwi Dam construction site from 2006 to 2012. Totally 148 and 165 species were collected at the upstream and downstream sampling sites, respectively. At the upstream area after dam construction, there was no significant change of the numbers of non-insect taxa, but at the downstream area, the non-insect taxon numbers were increased gradually. The individual ratio of Ephemeroptera and Diptera had higher value than the other taxa in both of up and downstream. The trichopteran individual ratios were increased in upstream sites, but decreased in downstream sites from 2010. Also, non-insects and coleopteran individual ratios were decreased in upstream, but increased in downstream after completion of dam construction. The annual range of fluctuation in community indices narrowed after construction. According to a functional feeding group analysis, the individual ratios of FC (Filtering Collector) were increased, and GC (Gathering Collector) and SC (Scraper) were decreased in upstream sites annually. In contrast, the annual individual ratios of FC were decreased, and GC and SC were increased in the downstream sites.
First record of Oedemera sexualis (Coleoptera: Oedemeridae: Oedemerinae) from Korea

The oedemerid species Oedemera sexualis Marseul, 1877 is reported for the first time from Korea. The genus Oedemera Olivier, 1789, within subfamily Oedemerinae and family Oedemeridae, is one of the common oedemerid beetles being widely distributed throughout the world. The world-widespread genus Oedemera is presented 3 subgenera and 104 species in Palaearctic region. Until now, 8 species and subspecies were recorded in Korea. O. sexualis was found in Is. Yongcho and Is. Bijin in Tongyeong-si, Gyeongsangnamdo of Korea, bringing the number of Korean Oedemera species to 9 species. In this study, we report the taxonomic key to the genus Oedemera of Korea, and morphological description of O. sexualis.
DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF THE BEAM POSITION MONITOR FOR THE PEFP LINAC

The beam position monitor (BPM) is an essential component for the PEFP 100-MeV linac's commissioning. A prototype stripline-type linac BPM was designedfor this purpose. The electrode aperture is 20 mm in diameter, and the electrode is 25 mm long, so it can be installed between Drift Tube Linac (DTL)101 and DTL102, which is the shortest distance. One end of the electrode is connected to the Sub Miniature Type A (SMA) feed through for signal measurement, and the other end is terminated as a short. The signal amplitude of the fundamental component was calculated and compared with that of the second harmonic component. The designed BPM was fabricated and a low-power RF test was conducted. In this paper, the design, fabrication and low power test of the BPM for the PEFP linac are presented.

Before 1980s, the main cause of lead poisoning was associated to occupation such as building bridge, smelting and foundry. After 1980s, lead poisoning occurs from non-occupational causes such as from ingestion of herbal supplements. We encountered a 37-year-old male who visited the hospital for general weakness and abdominal pain. He had been taking Korean herbal medicine for two months to relieve anal fistula pain. Laboratory evaluation demonstrated hemoglobin 8. 3 g/dL hematocrit 24. 0%, retibulocyte 2. 91%, and peripheral blood smear showed normocytic michromic anemia with basophilic stippling. Also, serum aspartate aminotransferase and alaninetransaminase were elevated to 43 IU/L and 123 IU/L, respectively. Both duodenoscopy and colonoscopy were performed, which showed negative results except chronic superfi cial gastritis and anal fi stula. Initially, porphyria was suspected for because abdominal pain with persistent anemia, elevated reticulocyte count and abnormal liver function tests were not explained by evaluation for frequent diseases. Subsequent tests of porphyria, porphobilinogen and delta-aminolevulinic acid were elevated. However, history of herbal medication led us to measure the concentration of serum lead, which was increased to 54. 6 μg/dL. He was successfully treated with lead chelating agent. We report a case of lead poisoning with similar clinical manifestation to porphyria caused by ingestion of Korean herbal medicine, which implies the importance of evaluation of lead poisoning in certain clinical setting. Since both porphyria and lead poisoning usually manifest nonspecifi c symptoms such as anemia, hepatitis and acute abdomen pain, physicians` suspicion according to patient`s history is important in diagnosis such rare diseases.
