A seven-month pregnant four-year-old Thoroughbred mare with colic weighing 600 kg was referred to the Jeju National University Equine Hospital. A physical examination and ultrasound suggested epiploic foramen entrapment. The patient underwent ileum resection and end-to-side jejunocecostomy. After surgery, the horse showed a consistent pain when introduced to feeding. A repeat laparotomy was performed to enlarge the stoma size with side-to-side jejunocecostomy. The repeat laparotomy was successful, and the mare gave birth uneventfully. This report describes a case of small intestinal epiploic foramen entrapment and the clinical outcomes of the 2 consecutive laparotomies a Thoroughbred mare in late gestation.

<P>Surface energy is a key factor in controlling the kinetics of nucleation and growth of perovskite, which are crucial for the formation of high quality films and the photovoltaic efficiency of solar cells. It has been reported that substrate wettability and perovskite grain size are to be compromised with necessity, as promoted heterogeneous nucleation that occurs on a hydrophilic surface reduces the grain size for a two-step deposition method. Herein, the increase in grain size on hydrophilic surfaces in the presence of hydroxyl groups and the direct correlation between the perovskite grain formation and photovoltaic performance are investigated. The surface energy of the hole transport layer in planar p-i-n type perovskite solar cells is modulated by the introduction of polymer surfactant additive, poly(ethylene glycol) tridecyl ether (PTE). Perovskite films deposited on a hydrophilic surface by a two-step method contain small grain size, leading to a reduction in photovoltaic performance. In contrast, surface hydroxyl groups were found to induce the preferential (110) orientation and large grain size in the perovskite films deposited by means of a one-step method. Nucleation and growth mechanisms are proposed to explain those different behaviors of the dependence of grain size on surface energy. The enlarged perovskite grains on hydrophilic surfaces lead to an efficiency improvement owing to an increase in the short-circuit current and fill factor. Our study highlights that the grain size increase and high crystallinity can be achieved even with accelerated heterogeneous nucleation on a hydrophilic substrate surface.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

이 연구는 홈쇼핑 채널 이미지에 영향을 미치는 요인, 채널 이미지, 그리고 채널 이용 사이의 영향 관계를 조사하였다. 영향 요인으로 지목된 ‘쇼핑 호스트의 자질’, ‘제품의 가격’, ‘방송사의 경영/홍보’, ‘시청자 참여 및 구매 관련 서비스’ 이상 네 개 요인들 중 쇼핑 호스트의 자질, 제품의 가격, 방송사의 경영 및 홍보의 세 요인이 홈쇼핑 채널 이미지에 유의미한 정적 영향을 미쳤다(연구문제 1). 홈쇼핑 채널 이미지는 이들 세 요인들이 홈쇼핑 채널 이용에 미치는 영향력을 중개하는 매개 효과를 보여 주었다(연구가설 1). 선행 요인들 중 시청자의 참여 및 구매 관련 서비스는 응답자들의 홈쇼핑 채널 이용에 직접적으로 유의미한 정적 영향을 미쳤다(연구문제 2). 이와 같은 영향 요인들, 홈쇼핑 채널 이미지, 채널 이용의 관계성에 대한 결과를 바탕으로 이 연구는 다양한 학술적, 실용적 함의들을 토론하였다. This study examined the relationships among influential factors in the image of home shopping channels, channel image, and media use. The research model in this study included four possibly influential factors of the qualification of shopping host, price, the management and public relations of broadcasting stations, and the participation of viewers and purchase related service. Three factors of the qualification of shopping host, price, and the management and public relations of broadcasting stations were positively significant for the image of home shopping channels (RQ1). Hypothesis 1 assuming the mediating effect of channel image between the aforementioned factors and media use was mostly supported. The participation of viewers and purchase related service was the only factor with the significant direct effect on media use (RQ2). Based on the results, this study discussed various scholarly and practical implications.
국민 관점의 대통령 소통 평가 요인이 대통령에 대한 신뢰와 지지도에 미치는 영향

This study examined how people evaluate president`s communication by performing a series of analyses for scale development. Respondents evaluated president`s communication with three factors of president`s communication capability, the frequency of news report about president`s policy communication, and the level of communication channel usage measured with a total of 18 measurement items. Next, this study peformed a path analysis in order to investigate the influence of the three factors on trust in president and their influence on support for president with the mediating variable of trust. This study found that all the three factors influenced support for president via trust. However, president`s communication capability only had a significant direct effect on support for president, and furthermore it was the only significant factor for support for president in terms of the total effect including direct and indirect effect. This study found the same results in a hierarchical regression analysis. That is, respondents who have higher income, show more conservative political orientation, and supported current president in the last presidential election were likely to strongly support their president, whereas highly educated respondents were not likely to support their president with a critical perspective. In addition to these factors, president`s communication capability and trust in president were also positively significant for support for president. Based on the results, this study discussed theoretical and practical implications in depth.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The selection of materials for use of a hole transport layer is crucial to improve the photovoltaic performances by means of efficient hole extraction. Herein, we investigate how the formation of a hybrid dual hole transport interlayer consisting of copper (I) iodide (CuI) and molybdenum oxide (MoO<SUB>3</SUB>) affects the efficiency of the device based on poly(3-hexylthiophene)(P3HT):[6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) blends. The rough surface of a CuI layer was observed when prepared on indium tin oxide (ITO) substrates, but became smooth by the thermal evaporation of MoO<SUB>3</SUB> on the rough CuI surface, forming a dual layer. The devices incorporated with the layer show an enhancement in efficiency compared to the devices with the CuI or MoO<SUB>3</SUB> alone layer, which is attributed to enhanced hole extraction. Our X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) results show that Mo<SUP>5+</SUP> defect states are increased by the interaction between MoO<SUB>3</SUB> and CuI at the interface, giving rise to an increase in gap states, which we attribute to the improvement of hole extraction.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> The contact of a buffer layer with the active layer has to be homogeneous. </LI> <LI> The rough CuI surface can become smooth by thermally evaporated MoO<SUB>3</SUB>. </LI> <LI> Substoichiometric MoO<SUB>x</SUB> was placed more in the region near the interface with CuI. </LI> <LI> The fine mix of CuI and MoO<SUB>3</SUB> enhances hole extraction. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>
Role of ITO nanoparticles embedded into electrospun ITO nanofibers

<P>Both crystallization and molecular density are significant to achieve high electrical conductivity of transparent electrodes. Herein, we investigated the embedding effects of indium tin oxide (ITO) nanoparticles (NPs) into ITO nanofibers (NFs) synthesized by utilizing an electrospinning technique from ITO precursor solutions. We found that the ITO NPs might act as nucleation seeds that initiate crystallization of ITO, evidenced by flake-like morphologies which cannot be observed without ITO NPs. XRD measurements reveal that the ITO is crystalline with a higher degree and the size of ITO crystallites increases in the presence of ITO NPs embedded into NFs. Embedding ITO NPs leads to the formation of short fibers, but there is still large space between fibers as they are vertically stacked in the films, resulting in low electrical conductivity. Interestingly, a high ratio of ITO NPs enhances the electrical conductivity, as compared to a low ratio, which we attribute to the high fiber density on substrates due to the formation of shorter ITO NFs. Our results highlight that the ITO NPs influence not only the ITO crystallization but also the lengths of NFs. High electrical conductivity of NF films can be obtained by a high degree of crystallization and the optimum NF length that reduces spaces between NFs in the films.</P>

현대 의류 산업이 발전하면서 대량 생산, 대량 유통됨에 따라 의류 일회성이 일반화되어 환경 문제와 함께 사회적 문제도 발생하고 있다. 쿨레만 (Anne-Kathrin Kuhlemann) 의 논문에 따르면 “옷 입는 횟수를 2 배로 늘리면 의류 산업에서 배출되는 탄소량을 44%까지 감축시킬 수 있다.” 는 연구 결과가 있다. 본 논문에서는 의류 커스텀 및 리폼 디자인 공유 웹 플랫폼을 개발하여 생산자와 소비자, 디자이너가 함께 의류 산업 제로 웨이스트를 실천하는 커뮤니티를 조성한다. 이를 통해 소비자의 소비 습관을 변화시키고, 지속 가능한 의류 산업 발전을 이끌어 나갈 수 있는 발판을 마련하고자 한다.
