Vegetable consumption is associated with health benefits. Recently, the interest in these food groups has grown among due to the identification of new compound in their chemical composition. Most of the vegetables are cooked by blanching, boiling, steaming, microwaving before consumed. These cooking processes may change not only food physical characteristics but also chemical composition. The present study was undertaken to investigate the effect of different cooking methods on phytochemical content and antioxidant capacity in Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam stem. The result of study, Total polyphenol of phytochemical in Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam stem was 6.88-12.65 mg GAE/100 g and flavonoid was 3.16-10.46 mg CE/100 g. Compared with the raw of Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam stem, all cooking methods were found to significant correlations between the antioxidant activity assessed by ABTS, DPPH and polyphenol(p<0.05). These results can be provide the basic data how to prevent lose of nutrition in Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam stem when cooking.
Sex change scale and pattern of Tegillarca granosa (Bivalvia: Arcidae) in 2011-2012

The sex of bivalves is classified into gonochorism and hermaphroditism, and hermaphroditism is further divided into simultaneous, and sequential. Simultaneous hermaphroditism is the simultaneous release of eggs and sperm by one organism during the same season. Sequential hermaphrodites are either male or female for one or several annual cycles (Heller, 1993; Gosling 2004; Collin, 2013). T. granosa is a sequential hermaphroditic bivalve undergoing sex change (Lee et al., 2014). However, definitive conclusion on whether the scale and pattern of sex change of T. granosa is always consistent could not be made. Therefore, the objective of this study was to reconfirm sex change in T. granosa and consider the scale and pattern of sex change compared to the results of Lee et al. (2014). The total number of T. granosa used for sex change identification was 777 with a shell length (SL) between 25.1-35.0 (30.9±2.13) mm. For Tegillarca granosa, the scale of sex change during 2006-2007 was reported to be 15.1% (Lee et al., 2014). In this study, the overall scale of sex change in T. granosa was 37.6% during 2011-2012, which was approximately 2.5 times higher than that reported by Lee et al. (2014). In addition, the difference between the sex change ratio from females to males and that from males to females was 15.3% during the period of 2011-2012, which was similar to the finding of 15.0% during 2006-2007 (Lee et al., 2014). The sex change ratio of female→male : male→female was 1 : 3.42 during 2006-2007 reported by Lee et al. (2014). It was 1 : 1.57 during 2011-2012 in this study.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>There is little information on how the change in serum aminotransferase affects mortality. We investigated the association between changes in serum aminotransferase levels and mortality from all causes, cardiovascular disease (CVD), and liver disease.</P><P>Three percent of men from the Korean National Health Insurance database were sampled randomly at the end of 2002. After excluding patients with cancer, CVD, CVD risk factors, or liver disease, those who participated in 2 consecutive rounds of the national health screening examination were included (n = 68,431). The primary outcome was CVD mortality. Secondary outcomes were liver disease mortality and all-cause mortality. Change in metabolic profiles was analyzed based on changes in liver enzyme levels. Elevated levels of serum aminotransferase were associated with CVD, liver disease, and all-cause mortality. Men who had sustained elevation of serum aminotransferase during 2 subsequent liver enzyme tests showed a significantly higher risk of CVD mortality (adjusted hazard ratio [aHR] 1.95; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.07–3.56, 2.29; 1.27–4.12) than the sustained normal group. In contrast, the normalization group (aHR 1.52, 95% CI 0.82–2.81 for aspartate aminotransferase [AST]; aHR 1.35, 95% CI 0.70–2.61 for alanine aminotransferase [ALT]) and the new elevation group (aHR 1.27, 0.66–2.44 for AST; aHR 0.99, 95% CI 0.49–2.20 for ALT) were not different from the sustained normal group in CVD mortality.</P><P>Individuals with serum aminotransferase elevation, particularly when sustained, are at higher risk of mortality, and should receive appropriate medical attention.</P>

<P>We previously identified cancer-upregulated gene 2 (CUG2) as a commonly up-regulated gene in various human cancer tissues, especially in ovary, liver, and lung (Lee et al., 2007a). CUG2 was determined to be a nuclear protein that exhibited high proto-oncogenic activities when overexpressed in NIH3T3 mouse fibroblast cells. To identify other cellular functions of CUG2, we performed yeast two-hybrid screening and identified CENP-T, a component of CENP-A nucleosome complex in the centromere, as an interacting partner of CUG2. Moreover, CENP-A, the principle centromeric determinant, was also found in complex with CENP-T/CUG2. Immunofluorescent staining revealed the co-localization of CUG2 with human centromeric markers. Inhibition of CUG2 expression drastically affected cell viability by inducing aberrant cell division. We propose that CUG2 is a new component of the human centromeric complex that is required for proper chromosome segregation during mitosis.</P>

컴퓨터가 정보를 이해한다' 라는 말로 표현될 수 시멘틱 웹은 WWW의 발전으로 인해 축적된 방대한 데이터 속에서 우리가 원하는 '더' 정확한 정보를 찾아 줄 수 있는 대안으로 주목 받고 있다. 이에 대한 연구는 다양한 분야에서의 접근을 하고 있으며 그 '개념' 을 점점 실체화시키려고 노력하고 있으나 아직 뚜렷한 모습은 나타내고 있지 않다. 이제 본 연구에서는 시맨틱 웹의 실용화 측면에서 시맨틱 웹의 개념을 이용하여 잠재고객 탐색 에이전트를 설계하였다. 시맨틱 웹 기반의 잠재고객 탐색 에이전트는 인터넷 상의 인터넷 쇼핑몰 및 우체국 택배의 가능한 업체를 선별, 추출하여 잠재 고객을 찾아냄으로써 택배 마케팅을 위한 정보를 제공해 주기 위한 시스템이다, 본 연구에서는 택배 마케팅의 잠재 고객에 대한 정보를 검색하기 위해, 시멘틱 웹 기반의 온톨로지 생성을 위한 시스템이다. 본 연구에서는 택배 마케팅의 잠재 고객에 대한 정보를 검색하기 위해, 시맨틱 웹 기반의 온톨로지 생성을 위한 구체적인 도메인을 설계하고, 생성된 온톨로지를 이용하는 정보 검색 방법에 대해 소개한다.
