Ju‑Won Park,Howook Choi,Hwangsun Kim,Simoon Sung,Hye‑Jin Jeong,Il Kim,Jaeseok Gong,Sung‑Tae Hong,Heung Nam Han 대한금속·재료학회 2021 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.27 No.5
The effect of high electric current density on the sintering of Ag wires manufactured by screen printing is evaluated throughelectrical resistivity analysis and microstructure observation. Different forms (continuous and pulsed) of electric currentwith different current densities are applied to the specimens. Conventional heat treatment is also performed as a controlgroup to examine the athermal effect of electropulsing treatment. Compared to the conventional heat treatment, the resistivityis reduced more under the electropulsing treatment with continuous current for the same temperature and treatment time. Also, the process time of electropulsing treatment can be reduced by applying a pulse form of high density current insteadof continuous current without losing the benefit of enhanced reduction of resistivity. The microstructural observationsobtained from high angle annular dark field scanning transmission electron microscope and a digital precession instrumentclearly show that necking connecting the crystals is formed more firmly under electric current. In addition, the temperaturechange of Ag wire and substrate is calculated according to the change of the resistivity when the electric current is appliedto confirm the reliability.

Pulsed dye laser (PDL) has been suggested to be used adjunctively with oral and topical rosacea regimens for more effective symptom resolution. However, it is not known which treatment method can reduce the recurrence of rosacea effectively. Objectives: The primary objective was to identify whether 595nm-PDL treatment reduced recurrent rate among rosacea patients who were treated with oral minocycline. The secondary objective was to evaluate that the factors such as sex, age, rosacea type, topical agents, and the treatment duration with oral minocycline were associated with the hazard of recurrence of rosacea. Methods: 107 Korean patients with rosacea who started treatment with oral minocycline (100mg per day) with or without 595nm-PDL (total 2-4 sessions) between January 2013 and May 2015 were evaluated retrospectively. The follow-up period was 1 year from the end of the treatment. Results: The recurrence-free survival analysis revealed that the group with oral minocycline plus PDL was significantly different compared with the group with oral minocycline alone. Treatment of oral minocycline for 4 or less weeks without PDL remained a statistically significant risk factor compared with treatment of oral minocycline for more than 4 weeks with PDL. Conclusion: Pulsed dye laser can be used in combination with oral minocycline for more than 4 weeks to reduce relapses of rosacea.

Background/Aims: We aimed to define an optimal target population and drug-specific biomarkers that may predict dipeptidyl peptidase (DPP)-4 inhibitor responses in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Methods: An exploration study (study I) was performed using three different NAFLD models (basket study design; high-fat diet [HFD], methionine choline-deficient diet [MCD], and high-cholesterol Western diet [WD] models). RNA transcriptome analysis was performed on pre-studied liver tissues to identify biomarkers that could predict the response to DPP-4 inhibitors. In the validation study (study II), the HFD-induced NAFLD model was divided into high and low hepatic insulin-like growth factor binding protein 1 (Igfbp-1) groups based on the pre-study liver biopsy. Results: DPP-4 inhibitor attenuated the NAFLD activity score and fibrosis stage in the HFD model but not in the WD and MCD models. The overall response rate was 19% across the modified basket NAFLD trial and 42%, 25%, and 0% in the HFD, WD, and MCD models. Hepatic Igfbp-1 expression was higher in the responder group than in the non-responder group in pre-study biopsy samples. In contrast, hepatic Igfbp-1 expression was lower in the responder group than in the non-responder group in the end-study biopsy samples. DPP-4 inhibitor response rates were 83% and 17% in the baseline hepatic high Igfbp-1 and low Igfbp-1 groups, respectively. Hepatic messenger RNA Igfbp-1 expression was positively correlated with serum IGFBP-1 levels. Conclusions: The DPP-4 inhibitor response was higher in the HFD phenotype and pre-treatment levels of hepatic or serum IGFBP-1 were high.

( Hye Soo Ko ),( Young Ju Suh ),( Ji Won Byun ),( Gwang Seong Choi ),( Jeonghyun Shin ) 대한피부과학회 2017 Annals of Dermatology Vol.29 No.5
Background: The recurrence rate of rosacea was not known very well, but has been reported as 60% in 6 months after withdrawal of the drug. It is not known which treatment can reduce relapses of rosacea effectively. Objective: The objective was to identify whether 595 nm-pulsed dye laser (PDL) treatment reduced recurrence rate among rosacea patients who were treated with oral minocycline. Methods: One hundred and seven Korean patients with rosacea who started treatment with oral minocycline (100 mg/d) with or without PDL (2∼4 sessions) were evaluated retrospectively. The recurrence rate was estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method, and difference was evaluated using the log-rank test. Cox proportional hazards model was used to estimate hazard ratios and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) of risk factors for the recurrence of rosacea. Results: The recurrencefree survival analysis revealed that the group with oral minocycline plus PDL was significantly different compared with the group with oral minocycline alone (p=0.011). Cox proportional hazards model showed that the combined use of PDL with oral minocycline appeared to be a significant protective factor for the hazard of recurrence of rosacea (hazard ratio, 0.492; 95% CI, 0.257∼0.941; p=0.032). Conclusion: PDL can be used added to oral minocycline to reduce relapses among rosacea patients who are undergoing oral minocycline treatment. (Ann Dermatol 29(5) 543∼547, 2017)
Paraneoplastic Pyoderma Gangrenosum Associated with Rectal Adenocarcinoma
( Hye Rin You ),( Jae-kyun Ju ),( Sook Jung Yun ),( Jee-bum Lee ),( Seong-jin Kim ),( Young Ho Won ),( Seung-chul Lee ) 대한피부과학회 2018 Annals of Dermatology Vol.30 No.1
Pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) is a rare chronic neutrophilic dermatosis characterized by painful necrotic ulceration. The most common diseases associated with PG are inflammatory bowel disease, certain rheumatologic and hematologic diseases, and malignancy. Here, we describe the case of a 60-year-old man who presented with pruritic and painful erythematous ulcerative macules and patches on both lower extremities, and was diagnosed with PG based on his clinical and histologic features. His PG became exacerbated despite standard therapy with a high-dose systemic steroid in combination with dapsone and cyclosporine. Systemic evaluation of underlying conditions revealed rectal adenocarcinoma at the rectosigmoid junction (T3N0M0), which was completely removed via Hartmann’s procedure followed by adjuvant chemotherapy. Two months after anticancer therapy, his PG was completely healed with hypertrophic scarring. Herein, we present the first case of paraneoplastic PG caused by rectal adenocarcinoma in Korea. Primary cell culture is a sufficient method frequently used to study the cellular properties and mechanisms of isolated cells in a controlled environment. In this study, an embryonic cell line (FGBC8) derived from the blastula stages of embryos of olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus was developed. Furthermore, conditions for optimal long-term maintenance of this primary embryonic cell culture were investigated. Morphologically, FGBC8 cells were composed primarily of epithelial-like cells. FGBC8 cells were subcultured for >160 passages over ~830 days. The doubling time of FGBC8 cells was 73.8 h, and the modal diploid chromosome number was 48. FGBC8 cells transfected with green fluorescence protein (GFP)-expression plasmid exhibited a strong signal 48 h after transfection. Consequently, we demonstrated that fish serum is a crucial supplement for the long-term survival and maintenance of comparable morphology in these primary embryonic cells. Our results can be used as a guide for primary embryonic cell cultures for other fish species and may be useful for cell biotechnological applications.

A new embryonic cell line (OFEC-17FEN) derived from olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus was developed. OFEC-17FEN cells were subcultured for <30 passages over ~200 days. OFEC-17FEN cells had a doubling time of 114.34 h and modal diploid chromosome number was 48. The pluripotency genes POU5f1 and NANOG were expressed in OFEC-17FEN cells. However, the lack of several pluripotency-related genes expression indicates that OFEC-17FEN cells are not stem cells. OFEC-17FEN cells transfected with plasmid pEGFP-c1 exhibited a strong green fluorescent signal at 48 h after transfection. Accordingly, OFEC-17FEN cells may be useful for both basic research and biotechnological application.
