기능적전기자극(FES)을 이용하여 중추신경장해환자의 체간제어를 행하는 방법을 고안하여 체간제어에 필요한 각 각의 관절운동을 실현시켜 보았다. 건강인에게 전기자극실험을 행하고 기능적전기자극에 의해 체위변환의 실험기능성을 검증했다. 또한 상지를 함께 이용한 체위변환시의 근전도를 해석하여 보다 적절한 체위변환의 방법을 검토했다. A method to roll-over the paralyzed body by means of Functional Electrical Stimulation(FES) is considered. It is demonstrated that individual joint motions necessary for the rolling-over are realized by electrical stimulation. EMG measurements are also performed to analyze the cooperative activities of the muscles during rollingover motion in a case where an upper extremity was used. These results of two experiments using normal subjects verifies the fundamental feasibility of body control by FES.
Improvement of Control Command Input Device Using Image Processing for FES System

In order to develop a control command input device for a functional electrical stimulation (FES) system, an image processing method was used in this paper. A healthy subject’s eye movement was detected, the prototype control command input device was made, and we verified its performance in experiments. From the experimental results, it was found that a healthy subject could appropriately operate the control device to control his wrist joint by FES.

High temporal-resolution and accurate measurement of skin impedance locus provides useful data for the identification of the physiological/psychological changes and also the identification of acupuncture point. An impedance spectroscopy method using digitally constructed current waveform consisting of many frequency components (multiples of 1Hz) was reported3. The time resolution of the method depends on the lowest frequency used in the waveform construction, and therefore, the measurement would be faster if the lowest frequency is the higher. However, it was not clear that how many and how low frequencies must be used for the estimation of the skin impedance parameters from which the impedance locus can be drawn. This study shows the relationship between the estimation error of the impedance parameters and the frequency coverage of the spectroscopy. The results of this study are expected to serve as the reference of the frequency selection in the impedance spectroscopy.
