Dual-stream Co-enhanced Network for Unsupervised Video Object Segmentation

Hongliang Zhu,Hui Yin,Yanting Liu,Ning Chen 한국인터넷정보학회 2024 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.18 No.4

Unsupervised Video Object Segmentation (UVOS) is a highly challenging problem in computer vision as the annotation of the target object in the testing video is unknown at all. The main difficulty is to effectively handle the complicated and changeable motion state of the target object and the confusion of similar background objects in video sequence. In this paper, we propose a novel deep Dual-stream Co-enhanced Network (DC-Net) for UVOS via bidirectional motion cues refinement and multi-level feature aggregation, which can fully take advantage of motion cues and effectively integrate different level features to produce high-quality segmentation mask. DC-Net is a dual-stream architecture where the two streams are co-enhanced by each other. One is a motion stream with a Motion-cues Refine Module (MRM), which learns from bidirectional optical flow images and produces fine-grained and complete distinctive motion saliency map, and the other is an appearance stream with a Multi-level Feature Aggregation Module (MFAM) and a Context Attention Module (CAM) which are designed to integrate the different level features effectively. Specifically, the motion saliency map obtained by the motion stream is fused with each stage of the decoder in the appearance stream to improve the segmentation, and in turn the segmentation loss in the appearance stream feeds back into the motion stream to enhance the motion refinement. Experimental results on three datasets (Davis2016, VideoSD, SegTrack-v2) demonstrate that DC-Net has achieved comparable results with some state-of-the-art methods.

New Adjustment Method for the Width of Monorail Beams on Curve

        Eryu Zhu,Hongliang Wang,Lei Wang,Yujie Li,Li Zhu 대한토목학회 2019 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.23 No.5

A new method to improve the passing performance of monorail train driving on a curve by adjusting the width of monorail beams is proposed. Equations for deformation of steering wheel and stabilizing wheel with respect to the contact relationship between monorail beams and trains are derived by geometric analysis. Then two kinds of adjustment schemes are proposed, equal width adjustment method and unequal width adjustment method. A curved guide way of radius 100 m is taken for the example to verify the validity of the improved method by comparing the tire deformation of monorail train driving on the beams before and after the adjustment of width. The results show that the improved adjustment method for the width of monorail beam is efficient to reduce tire deformation when the monorail train travels on a curve. For the guide way of radius 100 m, width of the beams should be reduced by 7 mm when the equal width adjustment method is adopted. When the unequal width adjustment method is adopted, the width of monorail beams at the position of steering wheel carriageway and stabilizing wheel carriageway should be reduced by 10 mm and 5 mm, respectively.

DMRUT-MCDS: Discovery Relationships in the Cyber-Physical Integrated Network

        Hongliang Lu,지아농챠오,Weiping Zhu,Xianlong Jiao,Shaohe Lv,Xiaodong Wang 한국통신학회 2015 Journal of communications and networks Vol.17 No.6

In recent years, we have seen a proliferation of mobilenetwork- enabled smart objects, such as smart-phones and smartwatches, that form a cyber-physical integrated network to connect the cyber and physical worlds through the capabilities of sensing, communicating, and computing. Discovery of the relationship between smart objects is a critical and nontrivial task in cyber-physical integrated network applications. Aiming to find the most stable relationship in the heterogeneous and dynamic cyber-physical network, we propose a distributed and efficient relationship-discovery algorithm, called dynamically maximizing remaining unchanged time with minimum connected dominant set (DMRUT-MCDS) for constructing a backbone with the smallest scale infrastructure. In our proposed algorithm, the impact of the duration of the relationship is considered in order to balance the size and sustain time of the infrastructure. The performance of our algorithm is studied through extensive simulations and the results show that DMRUT-MCDS performs well in different distribution networks.

Isogeometric method based in-plane and out-of-plane free vibration analysis for Timoshenko curved beams

Hongliang Liu,Xuefeng Zhu,Dixiong Yang 국제구조공학회 2016 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.59 No.3

In-plane and out-of-plane free vibration analysis of Timoshenko curved beams is addressed based on the isogeometric method, and an effective scheme to avoid numerical locking in both of the two patterns is proposed in this paper. The isogeometric computational model takes into account the effects of shear deformation, rotary inertia and axis extensibility of curved beams, and is applicable for uniform circular beams, and more complicated variable curvature and cross-section beams as illustrated by numerical examples. Meanwhile, it is shown that, the Cp–1-continuous NURBS elements remarkably have higher accuracy than the finite elements with the same number of degrees of freedom. Nevertheless, for in-plane or out-of-plane vibration analysis of Timoshenko curved beams, the NURBS-based isogeometric method also exhibits locking effect to some extent. To eliminate numerical locking, the selective reduced one-point integration and B projection element based on stiffness ratio is devised to achieve locking free analysis for in-plane and out-of-plane models, respectively. The suggested integral schemes for moderately slender models obtain accurate results in both dominated and non-dominated regions of locking effect. Moreover, this strategy is effective for beam structures with different slenderness. Finally, the influence factors of structural parameters of curved beams on their natural frequency are scrutinized.

Ultrasonic Synthesis of Au/AgCl Hybrid Cubes and Their Evolution Under Electron Beam Irradiation

        Hongliang Cao,Xiaoli Miao,Mengqin Zhu,Chang Li,Feifei Wei,Xin Chen 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2015 NANO Vol.10 No.6

The utilization of ultrasound offers a facile tool for the synthesis of Au/AgCl hybrid particles. We have obtained the architectures of Au nanoparticles on AgCl sub-micrometer cubes by simply ultrasonic irradiating their precursors in ethylene glycol (EG). The formation process of Au/AgCl hybrid particles in the reaction solution has been studied based on the optical absorption spectra and the scanning electron microscope (SEM) images of the particles obtained at different ultrasonic irradiation stages. The dynamic changes of Au/AgCl hybrid particles under electron beam irradiation have been investigated in both SEM and in situ liquid cell transmission electron microscope (TEM). Hollow Au/AgCl hybrid particle structures have been obtained under the electron beam irradiation in liquid, with the cuboid contour shape preserved.

Atorvastatin regulates the migration and invasion of prostate cancer through the epithelial-mesenchymal transformation and matrix metalloproteinase pathways

        Zhanmeng Zhu,Yin Cao,Lingyun Liu,Zhiyi Zhao,Hongyu Yin,Hongliang Wang 대한비뇨의학회 2022 Investigative and Clinical Urology Vol.63 No.3

Purpose: Our purpose was to verify the effects of atorvastatin (ATO) on prostate cancer (PCa) proliferation, apoptosis, invasion, and metastasis and to further explore the drug’s mechanism of action. Materials and Methods: We used cell counting kit-8 (CCK8) and clone formation experiments to study the effect of ATO on the proliferation of PC3 cells. Flow cytometry and Hoechst 33342 staining were used to detect cell apoptosis. Cell migration and invasion were detected through wound healing experiments and transwell experiments. Western blotting was applied to detect apoptosis-related proteins (BAX, Bcl-2, PARP, and Caspase-3), epithelial-mesenchymal transformation (EMT) proteins, and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) expression. A mouse xenograft tumor model was established, and tumor volume and weight were determined. The expression levels of the above-mentioned proteins were determined through western blot. Results: ATO inhibited PC-3 cell proliferation and promoted cell apoptosis in a dose-dependent manner. ATO significantly up-regulated the expression of BAX, PARP, and Caspase-3 and inhibited the expression of Bcl-2. Wound healing and transwell experiments showed that ATO inhibited invasion and metastasis in PC-3 cells, possibly because ATO could inhibit the EMT and the expression of MMPs in PC-3 cells. Studies in nude mice showed that ATO significantly reduced tumor volume and weight; the expression levels of related proteins were consistent with the in vitro results. Conclusions: ATO inhibits the occurrence and development of PCa and regulates the migration and invasion of PCa cells by inhibiting the EMT and MMPs.

Serial Frozen Fecal Microbiota Transplantation in the Treatment of Chronic Intestinal Pseudo-obstruction: A Preliminary Study

( Lili Gu ),( Chao Ding ),( Hongliang Tian ),( Bo Yang ),( Xuelei Zhang ),( Yue Hua ),( Yifan Zhu ),( Jianfeng Gong ),( Weiming Zhu ),( Jieshou Li ),( Ning Li ) 대한소화기기능성질환·운동학회(구 대한소화관운동학회) 2017 Journal of Neurogastroenterology and Motility (JNM Vol.23 No.2

Background/Aims Chronic intestinal pseudo-obstruction (CIPO) is a serious, life-threatening motility disorder that is often related to bacterial overgrowth. Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) results in restoration of the normal intestinal microbial community structure. We investigated the efficacy of FMT in the treatment of CIPO patients. Methods Nine patients (age 18-53 years) with CIPO were enrolled in this prospective, open-label study. Patients received FMT for 6 consecutive days through nasojejunal (NJ) tubes and were followed up for 8 weeks after treatment. We evaluated the rate of clinical improvement and remission, feeding tolerance of enteral nutrition, and CT imaging scores of intestinal obstructions. Lactulose hydrogen breath tests were performed before FMT and 8 weeks after FMT to evaluate for the presence small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). Results FMT significantly alleviated bloating symptoms, and symptoms of pain were relieved 2 weeks after FMT. Enteral nutrition administered through a NJ tube after FMT was well-tolerated by 66.7% (6/9) of patients. CT scores of intestinal obstructions were significantly reduced after FMT (P = 0.014). SIBO was eliminated in 71.0% (5/7) of patients. Conclusions This pilot study demonstrated the safety of using FMT. FMT may relieve symptoms in selected patients with CIPO. FMT may also improve patient tolerance of enteral nutrition delivered via a NJ tube. (J Neurogastroenterol Motil 2017;23:289-297)

Scheduling with Heterogeneous QoS Provisioning for Indoor Visible-light Communication

        Xiaoli Dong,Xuefen Chi,Hongliang Sun,Yuhong Zhu 한국광학회 2018 Current Optics and Photonics Vol.2 No.1

Visible-light communication (VLC) combined with advanced illumination can be expected to become an integral part of next-generation communication networks. One of the major concerns in VLC implementation is developing resource-allocation schemes in a multi-user scenario. However, the scheduling for heterogeneous quality of service (QoS) traffic has not been studied so far, for the indoor VLC downlink system. In this paper, we creatively introduce effective-bandwidth and effective-capacity theory into the multi-user scheduling (MUS) problem, to guarantee the user’s statistical delay QoS. We also take account of the aggregate interference (AI) in the indoor VLC downlink system, and analyze its impact on the user-centric MUS problem for the first time. Simulations show that the AI has a nonnegligible influence on the scheduling result, and that the proposed scheduling scheme could guarantee the user’s QoS requirement under the premise of ensuring sum capacity.

Suppression of P2X7/NF-κB pathways by Schisandrin B contributes to attenuation of lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammatory responses in acute lung injury

        Zhiyong Cai,Jindi Liu,Hongliang Bian,Jinlan Cai,Gendi Zhu 대한약학회 2016 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.39 No.4

The aim of the present study was to assess theeffects and mechanisms of Schisandrin B (SchB) onlipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced acute lung injury (ALI). ALI was induced in mice by intratracheal instillation ofLPS (1 mg/kg), and SchB (25, 50, and 75 mg/kg) wasinjected 1 h before LPS challenge by gavage. After 12 h,bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) samples and lungtissues were collected. Histological studies demonstratedthat SchB attenuated LPS-induced interstitial edema, hemorrhage, and infiltration of neutrophils in the lung tissue. SchB pretreatment at doses of 25, 50, and 75 mg/kgwas shown to reduce LPS-induced lung wet-to-dry weightratio and lung myeloperoxidase activity. In addition, pretreatmentwith SchB lowered the number of inflammatorycells and pro-inflammatory cytokines including tumornecrosis factor-a, interleukin-1b, and interleukin-6 inBALF. The mRNA and protein expression levels of nuclearfactor kappa B (NF-jB) signaling-related molecules activatedby P2X7 were investigated to determine the molecularmechanism of SchB. The findings presented heresuggest that the protective mechanism of SchB may beattributed partly to the decreased production of pro-inflammatorycytokines through the inhibition of P2X7/NFjBactivation.

A Prospective Study of the Surgical Outcome of Simple Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP), UPPP Combined With Genioglossus Advancement or Tongue Base Advancement for Obstructive Sleep Apnea Hypopnea Syndrome Patients With Multilevel Obstruction

        Shicai Chen,Song Shi,Yanghui Xia,Minhui Zhu,Caiyun Zhang,Siwen Xia,Hongliang Zheng 대한이비인후과학회 2015 Clinical and Experimental Otorhinolaryngology Vol.8 No.2

Objectives. To investigate the surgical outcomes of different uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP). Methods. All subjects underwent overnight polysomnography and were evaluated using the Epworth sleepiness scale (ESS), the Quebec sleep questionnaire and the snoring scale at the baseline and 3 and 12 months following operation. The primary endpoint was the overall effective rate representing the sum of the surgical success rate and effective rate. Results. The overall effective rate at 12 months post surgery was 55.6% for simple UPPP, 95.8% for UPPP+GA, and 92.3% for UPPP+TBA. The surgical success rate at 3 and 12 months postoperation for UPPP+GA or UPPP+TBA was significantly higher than simple UPPP (P<0.05). Marked improvement was observed in all patients in the snoring scale score and the ESS score 3 and 12 months following surgery compared to the baseline (P<0.05 in all). Conclusion. UPPP, UPPP+GA, and UPPP+TBA are all effective in improving the surgical outcome of obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) patients with multilevel obstruction. UPPP+TBA appears to be the most effective in treating OSAHS patients.
