“朝鮮半島新和平構想”與朝韓關係

Tan, Hong-Mei 조선대학교 사회과학연구원 부설 동북아연구소 2010 동북아연구 Vol.25 No.1

Sound absorption coefficient measurement and analysis of bio-composite micro perforated panel (BC-MPP)

Tan Wei Hong,Faridah Wahab,Lee Jia Jian,Siti Hajar Ishak 대한기계학회 2023 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.37 No.7

The sound absorption performance of bio-composite micro-perforated panel (BC-MPP) made from composite polypropylene (PP) filled rice husk (PP/RH), and coconut coir (PP/CC) is presented. The sound absorption coefficient (SAC) of BC-MPP was obtained via the impedance tube two-microphone method, and the investigation was according to types of fillers, filler compositions, perforation ratio, and the air gap size. It was found that the SAC of BCMPP PP/RH provides a higher SAC value than BC-MPP PP/CC. Furthermore, the SAC peak was observed to shift to the lower frequency spectrum when there was an increment in filler content, the distance between the perforation, and the air gap size. The SAC value from the simulation also shows a good agreement with the experimental result.

With the further development of economic globalization, regional economic cooperation have become the trend of economic development in the 21st century, one can not have isolated itself from the rest of the world to develop its economy. Although Northeast Asia Region Cooperation has dropped behind, relative to the European Union, the North American Free Trade Area, but it is one of the most active economic region of the world. Of course, economic cooperation in the region has a certain development. In such environments this paper studies cooperation in Northeast Asia, analysis of Restricting Factors that affects cooperation in Northeast Asia, and explores prospect for cooperation in Northeast Asia, as well as the Northeast of China's policy choice participating in regional economic cooperation.

      • TitleFerroelectric PVDF Nanofiber Membrane for High Efficiency PM0.3 Air Filtration with Low Air Flow Resistance

Tan Tan Bui,Min Kyoung Shin,Seung Yong Jee,Jongin Hong,Myung Gil Kim 한국고분자학회 2021 한국고분자학회 학술대회 연구논문 초록집 Vol.46 No.2

The significant public health concerns related to air pollution that contains particulate matter (PM) and the airborne transmission of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 raised considerable interest in high performance air filtration membranes. The highly ferroelectric polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) nanofiber filter membrane is successfully fabricated via the electrospinning process for high-performance low-cost air filtration. Spectroscopic and ferroelectric/piezoelectric analyses of PVDF NF show that a thinner PVDF NF typically forms a ferroelectric β phase with a confinement effect. A 70-nm PVDF NF membrane exhibits the highest fraction of β phase and the largest polarization behavior from piezoresponse force microscopy. An ultra-thin 70-nm PVDF NF membrane exhibits a high PM0.3 filtration efficiency of 97.4% with a low pressure drop of 5.2 mmH2O at an air flow of 5.3 cm/s owing to the synergetic combination of the slip effect and ferroelectric dipole interaction.

Effect of Laser-derived Surface Re-melting of YSZ Electrolyte on Performance of Solid Oxide Fuel Cells

Hong Yi Kenneth Tan,Jong Dae Baek,Chen-Nan Sun,JUN WEI,이성혁,Pei-Chen Su 한국정밀공학회 2019 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.6 No.2

A simple and effective technique to reduce the overall fuel cell polarization resistance was introduced on a conventionally sintered YSZ electrolyte by creating a hybrid microstructure using low-intensity CO2 laser scanning methods. After laser modification of the YSZ electrolyte surface on the cathode side, the overall polarization resistance was reduced from 513 to 124 Ω cm2, and the maximum power density was increased by 28% from 1.86 to 2.38 mW/cm2 at 450 °C. This improvement was due to the enhanced surface kinetics by higher grain boundary density on the YSZ surface from recrystallization after laser scanning.

      • One year changes in QCT and DXA bone densities following bariatric surgery in a multiethnic Asian cohort

        Hong Chang Tan,Matthew Zhen-Wei Tan,Kwang Wei Tham,Shanker Pasupathy,Alvin Kim Hock Eng,Sonali Ganguly,Oi Fah Lai,Alvin Choong Meng Ng 대한골다공증학회 2015 Osteoporosis and Sarcopenia Vol.1 No.2

Objectives: Bone loss after bariatric surgery is well recognized but the best method for quantifying bone mineral density (BMD) remains controversial. BMD measured with dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) is prone to measurement errors in this population while quantitative computed tomography (QCT) is less affected. We report the skeletal changes after bariatric surgery at 1-year in a multi-ethnic Asian cohort using both central DXA and QCT. Methods: Areal BMD (aBMD) and volumetric BMD (vBMD) of twenty-two participants (mean age 40.6; female 59%) undergoing sleeve gastrectomy (n ¼ 12) or gastric bypass (n ¼ 10) were measured with central DXA and QCT respectively before and 12-months after surgery. Results: Weight and BMI decreased significantly but discordant QCT and DXA results were noted. aBMD was significantly reduced at the total hip (TH) and femoral neck (FN) by 6.9 and 8.5% respectively but was not significantly different at the lumbar spine (LS). By contrast, there were no significant changes in vBMD at TH and FN. Instead, a significant 11.2% decrease in vBMD was noted at the LS. These findings were largely similar between the two surgical subgroups. Interestingly, cortical vBMD increased at both TH and FN while trabecular vBMD decreased at the TH. These changes were observed despite no significant post-operative changes in serum calcium, iPTH or 25-OH vitamin D levels. Conclusion: Technical or physiological factors may be involved in the discordance between QCT and DXA results during short-term follow-up and the most suitable method of bone density measurement for post-bariatric surgery patients remains uncertain. © 2015 The Korean Society of Osteoporosis. Attraction of feral Bactrocera dorsalis males (Diptera: Tephritidae) to natural versus commercial sources of methyl eugenol

        Tan Keng-Hong,Wee Suk-Ling,Nishida Ritsuo,Shelly Todd E. 한국응용곤충학회 2021 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.24 No.4

Males of Bactrocera dorsalis (Hendel) are strongly attracted to methyl eugenol (ME), which occurs in over 450 plant species. Given this powerful attraction, ME is commonly used in surveillance and eradication programs against this invasive agricultural pest. Preliminary observations revealed that B. dorsalis males visited MEbearing flowers of the fruit fly orchid (FFO) Bulbophyllum cheiri subsp. cheiri even when these occurred near traps baited with far greater quantities of ME. Based on this evidence, we undertook field experiments to assess the attraction of feral B. dorsalis males to FFO flowers relative to commercial sources of ME. At the edge of a secondary forest, an FFO flower was placed midway between two ME sources located 20 m apart, and attracted flies were collected over an entire day. When the ME sources were unenclosed (not in traps), the relative attractiveness of FFO flowers to B. dorsalis males varied with the amount of ME placed nearby. The FFO flower (i) attracted a similar proportion of males when 1 g ME was placed at the flanking sites but (ii) captured signifi cantly smaller proportions when the nearby sites had 6 or 10 g commercial ME sources. Similar tests with the commercial sources enclosed in traps showed that (i) 6 g ME sources in Steiner traps attracted significantly more B. dorsalis males than FFO flowers but (ii) 10 g sources in Clear traps (1 L buckets with 4 entrance holes) did not outperform the FFO flowers, presumably owing to limited dispersion of volatiles from the trap. Implications of these results for surveillance programs are discussed.

      • Carrier tunneling and thermal escape in asymmetric double quantum dots

        Hong Lim, Kee,Man, Minh Tan,Lee, Chang-Lyoul,Yim, Sang-Youp,Choi, Jin Chul,Lee, Hong Seok Elsevier 2018 APPLIED SURFACE SCIENCE - Vol.456 No.-

Abstract

We investigated the effects of ZnTe separation layer thickness on the optical properties of asymmetric CdTe/ZnTe double quantum dots (QDs) deposited by molecular beam epitaxy and atomic layer epitaxy on Si substrates. For asymmetric CdTe/ZnTe double QDs, the exitonic peaks of the large QDs (LQDs) were blue shifted with decreasing separation layer thickness because of intermixing caused by strain from the small QDs (SQDs). The relative peak intensity of the LQDs with respect to that of the SQDs increased with decreasing separation layer thickness due to carrier tunneling from the SQDs to the LQDs. We propose that the separation layer plays a key role in the thermal escape process, and can therefore be used to modulate carrier capture in optoelectronic devices.

Highlights

Carrier tunneling and thermal escape in asymmetric double quantum dots were investigated.

Band gap of large quantum dots shifts to higher energy with decreasing ZnTe separation layer thickness.

Thermal escape energy of large quantum dots decreases with wider ZnTe separation layer thickness.

Thermal transfer of carriers between double quantum dots increases with narrower separation layers.

Graphical abstract

[DISPLAY OMISSION]

Ginsenoside Ro, an oleanolic saponin of Panax ginseng, exerts antiinflammatory effect by direct inhibiting toll like receptor 4 signaling pathway

        Hong-Lin Xu,Guang-Hong Chen,Yu-Ting Wu,Ling-Peng Xie,Zhang-Bin Tan,Bin Liu,Hui-Jie Fan,Hong-Mei Chen,Gui-Qiong Huang,Min Liu,Ying-Chun Zhou 고려인삼학회 2022 Journal of Ginseng Research Vol.46 No.1

Background: Panax ginseng Meyer (P. ginseng), a herb distributed in Korea, China and Japan, exerts benefits on diverse inflammatory conditions. However, the underlying mechanism and active ingredients remains largely unclear. Herein, we aimed to explore the active ingredients of P. ginseng against inflammation and elucidate underlying mechanisms. Methods: Inflammation model was constructed by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in C57BL/6 mice and RAW264.7 macrophages. Molecular docking, molecular dynamics, surface plasmon resonance imaging (SPRi) and immunofluorescence were utilized to predict active component. Results: P. ginseng significantly inhibited LPS-induced lung injury and the expression of proinflammatory factors, including TNF-a, IL-6 and IL-1b. Additionally, P. ginseng blocked fluorescence-labeled LPS (LPS488) binding to the membranes of RAW264.7 macrophages, the phosphorylation of nuclear factor-kB (NF-kB) and mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs). Furthermore, molecular docking demonstrated that ginsenoside Ro (GRo) docked into the LPS binding site of toll like receptor 4 (TLR4)/myeloid differentiation factor 2 (MD2) complex. Molecular dynamic simulations showed that the MD2-GRo binding conformation was stable. SPRi demonstrated an excellent interaction between TLR4/MD2 complex and GRo (KD value of 1.16 × 10-9 M). GRo significantly inhibited LPS488 binding to cell membranes. Further studies showed that GRo markedly suppressed LPS-triggered lung injury, the transcription and secretion levels of TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-1β. Moreover, the phosphorylation of NF-kB and MAPKs as well as the p65 subunit nuclear translocation were inhibited by GRo dose-dependently. Conclusion: Our results suggest that GRo exerts anti-inflammation actions by direct inhibition of TLR4 signaling pathway.
