      • 센서 어레이를 이용한 휘발성유기화합물 측정기기 개발

        홍철호,김동진,이장훈,권혁구 한국환경독성학회 2004 환경독성보건학회지 Vol.19 No.1

Air quality monitoring is a primary activity for industrial and social environment. The government push for pollutants that must be monitored. Especially, the VOCs(Volatile Organic Compounds), which are very harmful for human and environment, should be controlled under the government policy. We have been developed a VOCs measurement system which recognize various kinds and quantities of VOCs, such as benzene, toluene, and xylene(BTX). Especially, we designed sensor array with various kinds of gas sensor and ANN(Artificial Neural Network) algorithm. The measured values for BTX have errors of 1~4ppm.

      • 산지유통센터(APC) 운영관리 프로그램을 이용한 정보화경영 방안

        이호철,박재홍 한국농업정보과학회 2001 농업정보과학 Vol.3 No.1

Vol.19 No.2

Air quality monitoring is a primary activity for industrial and social environment. The government identifies the pollutants that each industry must monitor. Especially, the VOCs(Volatile Organic Compounds), which are very harmful to human body and environment atmosphere, should be controlled under the government policy. However, the VOCs, which have not been confirmed in emission sources are very difficult to monitor. It is needed to develop the monitoring system that allow the continuous and in situ measurement of VOCs mixture in different environmental matrices. Gas chromatography and mass spectrometry are the most prevalent current techniques among those available for the analysis of VOCs. But, they need a large size analytical instrument, which costs a great deal for purchase and operation. In addition, it has some limitations for real time environmental monitoring such as location problems and slow processing time. Recently, several companies have commercialized a portable VOCs measurement systems, which cannot classify various kinds of VOCs but total quantities. We have developed a VOCs measurement system, which recognizes various kinds and quantities of VOCs, such as benzene, toluene, and xylene(BTX). Also, it can be used as a stand-alone type and/or fixed type in the vehicle with rack for real-time environmental monitoring.

Design of a Charge Equalizer Based on Battery Modularization

        Hong-Sun Park,Chol-Ho Kim,Ki-Bum Park,Gun-Woo Moon,Joong-Hui Lee IEEE 2009 IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology VT Vol.58 No.7

<P>The charge equalizer design for a series-connected battery string is very challenging because it needs to satisfy many requirements, such as implementation possibility, equalization speed, equalization efficiency, controller simplicity, size and cost issues, voltage and current stress, and so on. Numerous algorithms and circuits were developed to meet the foregoing demands, and some interesting results have been obtained. However, for a large number of cells, for example, 80 or more batteries, the previous approaches might not easily satisfy the foregoing requirement. To overcome these difficulties, we propose a charge equalizer design method based on a battery modularization technique. In this method, a very long battery string is divided into several modules, and then, an intramodule equalizer and an outer-module equalizer are designed. This battery modularization scheme effectively reduces the number of cells that we consider in an equalizer design procedure; thus, the design of a charge equalizer becomes easier. Furthermore, by applying the previously verified charge equalizers to the intramodule and the outer module, we can make the equalizer design more flexible. Several examples and experimental results are presented to demonstrate the usefulness of the charge equalizer design method.</P>

      • Replication of the Wellcome Trust genome-wide association study on essential hypertension in a Korean population

        Hong, Kyung-Won,Jin, Hyun-Seok,Cho, Yoon Shin,Lee, Jong-Young,Lee, Jong-Eun,Cho, Nam H,Shin, Chol,Lee, Sang-Ho,Park, Hun Kuk,Oh, Bermseok Springer Science and Business Media LLC 2009 Hypertension research Vol.32 No.7

<P>Essential hypertension has a high rate of morbidity and mortality, primarily because of the associated complications. The Wellcome Trust Case Control Consortium recently conducted a genome-wide association study and identified six single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with essential hypertension. The Family Blood Pressure Program later investigated these six SNPs in an attempt to reproduce the aforementioned associations, but only one such association was found. However, this replication study did not include any Asian patients. Therefore, we investigated the association of the six SNPs with hypertension using 7551 unrelated individuals from the Korean Association REsource, a genome-wide association study based on epidemiological cohorts in Korea. We carried out a logistic regression analysis for hypertension status, and a linear regression analysis with systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure as quantitative traits. Even though two SNPs, rs6997709 and rs7961152, were associated with systolic and diastolic blood pressures, respectively, in the quantitative trait association test, no associations were found using a case-control association test. The Korean Association REsource data consisted of two community cohorts (the Ansung and Ansan areas in Korea). The SNP rs7961152 was found to be associated with hypertension risk (OR (odds ratio) =1.286, CI (confidence interval) 1.012-1.636, P=0.040), but only in the Ansan cohort. This study as well as the Family Blood Pressure Program study show that because of the complexity of the genetic architecture, an association study with a larger sample population may be necessary to identify genetic variants that affect hypertension.</P>

      • A Modularized Charge Equalizer for an HEV Lithium-Ion Battery String

        Hong-Sun Park,Chong-Eun Kim,Chol-Ho Kim,Gun-Woo Moon,Joong-Hui Lee IEEE 2009 IEEE transactions on industrial electronics Vol.56 No.5

<P>Based on the fact that a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) connects a high number of batteries in series to obtain more than approximately 300 V, this paper proposes a modularized charge equalizer for an HEV battery pack. In this paper, the overall battery string is modularized into <I>M*N</I> cells, where <I>M</I> is the number of modules in the string and <I>N</I> is the number of cells in each module. With this modularization, low voltage stress on the electronic devices can be achieved, which means that there is less chance of a failure on the charge equalizer. The power rating selection is one of the most important design issues for a charge equalizer because it is very closely related to equalization time. To solve this problem optimally, this paper presents a power rating design guide. In addition, this paper considers system-level design issues, such as cell voltage acquisition, equalizer control logic, and system-level grounding. The simulation and experimental results are presented to show the usefulness of the optimal power rating selection guide and the low voltage stressed charge equalization process.</P>

      • Charge Equalization Converter with Parallel Primary Winding for Series Connected Lithium-Ion Battery strings in HEV

        Chol-Ho Kim,Hong-Sun Park,Chong-Eun Kim,Gun-Woo Moon,Joong-Hui Lee,Jeon Keun Oh 전력전자학회 2007 ICPE(ISPE)논문집 Vol.- No.-

In this paper, a charge equalization converter with parallel-connected primary windings of transformers is proposed. The proposed work effectively balances the voltage among Lithium-Ion battery cells despite each battery cell has low voltage gap compared with its SOC. The principle of the proposed work is that the equalizing energy from all battery strings moves to the lowest voltage battery through the isolated dc/dc converter controlled by the corresponding solid state relay switch. In this paper, a prototype of four Lithium-Ion battery cells is optimally designed and implemented, and experimental results show that the proposed method has excellent cell balancing performance.
