The Wilkie's syndrome is an unusual form of duodenal obstruction due to compression of the distal duodenum between the aorta and the superior mesenteric artery. Authors report one case of duodenal obstruction due to superior mesenteric syndrome (Wilkie's syndrome) in 16-years old male student. A well development under nourished thin 16-years old male was admitted with abrupt onset of colicky abdominal pain and intermittent vomiting for two days, who no specific past, history except postprandial fullness. The diagnosis of Wilkie's syndrome was made under radiologic findings and above chief complaints. The operative treatment was performed by side to side anastomosis of- the jejunum to the dilated duodenum. We report a case of Wilkie's syndrome with brief review of several literature.

Engine performance is one of the main objectives specified at the beginning of a new engine design project. The cycle simulation for SI engine is based on the zero-dimensional gas exchange model and a heat release expression by Viebe. This program also requires minimum input data and takes only a short time to run. Heat transfer from cylinder transfer formula. The flow coefficient (effective area) is calculated from valve lift using the standard flow coefficient curve and engine friction is calculated from the Millington and Hartles' engine friction formula. The chemical species considered in burned gas are 6 species -CO, CO, H₂, H₂ 0, O₂, N₂ and the cylinder pressure, homogeneous cylinder temperature, gas composition and burned fraction are calculated at each crank angle through the cycle. To check the validity and accuracy, experimental study was done with 3 engines for measuring cylinder pressure, indicated mean effective pressure, brake mean effective pressure and air flow rate, etc.<br/> Despite its simple assumptions, cycle simulation showes excellent breathing and performance correlation when compared with data of tested engines, and have been proved useful in engine design.

A dynamic electrical parameter monitoring device was designed to simultaneously record the instantaneous value of voltage, current, power, and resistance during spot welding. The data obtained using this technique have been analyzed in term of the relationships of these parameters to the phenomena occuring during the formation(surface break-down nugget formation and mechanical collapse) of spot weld. Finally, a database implementation is undertaken to develop techniques for improving weld quality of the resistance spot welder.

In this study, hydrodechlorination of 1-chloro-1,1-difluoroethane (HCFC-l42b) has been performed over palladium on activated carbon catalysts. Activated carbon was, prior to catalysts preparation, washed with sodium hydroxide and hydrofluoric acid and/or hydrochloric acid to remove the impurities. In this experiment effects of the H₂ reduction time and mloe ratio of H₂ to HCFC-l42b on catalyst activities were investigated. The results showed that the conversion of HCFC-l42b products were more than 20% and the selectivities to 1,1-difluoroethane(HFC-l52a) in the product gas was 90% and especially, when mole ratio was 4, conversion was 31.5%, and selectivity to the HFC-l52a was 95.5%, whereas ethane was very low.

Automation and mechanization of work make people put the machine into operation and watch the state of operations. In the process of those works, they are apt to have accidents caused by their carelessness. To reduce such accidents, we can practise TOUCH and CALL, which is to indicate and ascertain the dangerous parts at every process before performing works. The objectives of this study are to show quantitatively the efficiency of TOUCH & CALL and to examine the effects of S-R compatibility. The results show that reaction time is longer(0.138-0.279sec.) in case of indicating with fingers and shouting than that of responding only visually. On the other hand, the error rate decreases by 3. 3 times -7times. From this, it is considered to verify quantitative estimation on multiple feedback of TOUCH & CALL.

In recent years. A PWM Converter or, Switched Mode Converter with high power factor and sinusoidal input current have got widespread studied. But, Almost. all of studies is based on linear load. This paper reports on research aimed at achieving high power factor and sinusoidal input current waveform for electronic arc welder which has nonlinear dynamic characteristics. It is shown that simulation result yield its property.

Expression of receptor for advanced glycation end-products (RAGE) is suggested to play a crucial role in mediating cardiac ischemia/reperfusion (IR) injury, and the blockade of RAGE signaling has been considered as a potential therapeutic strategy for the treatment of IR-induced cardiac damage. In this study, we primarily investigated the effects of RAGE suppression particularly on IR-induced ventricular arrhythmia. To inhibit the IR-induced upregulation of RAGE, siRNA targeting RAGE (siRAGE) was delivered to myocardium by using deoxycholic acid-modified polyethylenimine (PEI-DA) as a non-viral gene carrier. The resultant PEI-DA/siRAGE nanocomplexes successfully silenced the expression of RAGE and attenuated the inflammation and apoptosis in the ischemic-reperfused myocardium. According to our results, the electrophysiological properties (e.g., action potential propagation, action potential duration, and conduction velocity), disrupted by IR injury, were restored to normal level and the induction of ventricular tachycardia was abolished by RAGE silencing. We further found that RAGE suppression led to the activation of Wnt signaling, followed by the expression of gap junction protein, connexin43. Thus it could be concluded that successful siRAGE delivery is protective against IR-induced ventricular arrhythmia.
