        This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of seedling age, hardening time and hard-ening degree on the growth and yield components of flue-cured tobacco. Variety used was NC 2326. The results are summarized as follow; 1.Time of period from setting to topping, that from setting to the end of harvest, and that from topping to the end of harvest were longer in 50-day seedling than in 60-day seedling. And there was little difference of the time of period from sowing to the end of harvest between 50-day seedling and 60-day seedling. 2.C.G.R. was high in 50-day seed]ins than in 60-day seedling until the late maximum growing stage. In the 60-day seedling, growth continued late, and as a result of this, the stem height and number of leaves per a plant at topping time were higher in 60-day seedling. 3.The growth was most desirable in the recommended hardening(4.5ℓ/3.3㎡ ㆍ day ). The growth rate of severe hardening(1.5ℓ/3.3㎡ ㆍ day ) was high during the period from establishing to middle part of maximum growth. Se there was little difference of glowing characters among the plots of different hardening degree. 4.The leaf area of lugs and cutters was larger, and the weight of unit leaf area and percentage of dry matter in the plot of 60-day seedling were lower than those in other plots. 5.The leaf weight per plant, in the plot of recommended hardening was higher than that in the plots of without hardening and severe hardening. 6.There were little effects of tome of hardening on the growth and yield components.

        발열이 있는 호중구 감소증 환자에서의 위험도 예측인자

        Background: Most febrile neutropenic patients are treated in an aggressive manner. However, identification of low-risk patients may enable clinicians to administer risk-based treatment. The object of this study is to certify the factors associated with increased risk at the time of visiting the emergency department. Methods: This is a retrospective study. We reviewed the medical records of 101 febrile neutropenic patients who had visited the emergency department of Seoul National University Hospital from January 1998 to August 1999. We assumed 22 risk prediction factors that could be assessed at admission to the emergency department and 5 factors that could be assessed during treatment course. To find independent risk-prediction factors, we analyzed these factors respectively by using multiple regression analysis. Results: Tachycardia(aOR=136.5), altered mentality(aOR=28.8), decreased renal function(aOR=20.1), and significant comorbidity(aOR=17,2) are the independent factors associated with higher mortality. Altered mentality(aOR=31.6) and decreased renal function(CCr < 75㎖/min, aOR=5.4) are those associated with a higher incidence of septic shock. Independent factors associated with persistent(more than 3 days) fever are the early(within 10 days) onset of fever after last chemotherapy(aOR=8.8) and the existence of new pulmonary infiltrates on a simple chest X-ray(aOR=4.3). Conclusion: The stability of vital signs, the change of mentality, the renal function, the existence of significant comorbidity, the existence of new pulmonary infiltrates, and the rate of neutropenia are clinically useful risk-prediction factors in febrile neutropenia at the time of visiting the emergency department.

        In this paper, we developed a Windows XP version off-line programming system which can simulate a track vehicle model in 3D graphics space. The track vehicle was adopted as an objective model. The interface between users and the off-line program system in the Windows XP's graphic user interface environment was also studied. The developing language is Microsoft Visual C++. Graphic libraries, OpenGL, by Silicon Graphics, Inc. were utilized for 3D Graphics.

      • 머리부분에 과량의 방사선을 조사받은 흰쥐 위점막 벽세포의 미세구조 연구

        본 실험은 머리부분이 많은 양의 방사선에 노출되었을 때 위점막 벽세포에 나타나는 미세구조적 변화를 관찰하기 위하여 시행하였다. 실험동물로는 체중 200-250g의 건강한 숫흰쥐를 사용하였으며, 이를 정상군과 실험군(방사선 조사군)으로 나누었다. 실험군은 3,000 rad조사군과 6,000 rad조사군으로 구분하였으며, 방사선 조사후 6시간, 2일 및 6일후에 희생시켰다. 실험군은 sodium thiopental로 마취시킨후 치료방사기(Mitsubishi Linear Accelerator ML-4MV)를 사용하여 머리부분에만 분당 200 rad씩 X-선을 조사하였다. 위조직은 통상적인 전자현미경을 시료작성법에 따라 2.5% glutaraldehyde- 1.5% paraformaldehyde혼합액(0.1M phosphate buffer, pH 7.3)에 1차 고정한 후, 1% osmium tetroxide(0.1M phosphate buffer, pH 7.3)에 2차 고정하였다. 고정된 조직은 탈수과정을 거쳐 araldite혼합액에 포매하였으며, LKB-V ultratome르로 60-70nm두께의 얇은 절편을 작성하였다. 각 절편은 uranyl acetate와 lead citrate로 염색한후, JEM 100CX-Ⅱ전자현미경으로 관찰하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 방사선 조사후 6시간군의 경우, 위샘내강쪽으로 벽세포의 일부가 돌출되어 있는 것이 가끔 관찰되었으며, 미세사와 용해소체가 정상군의 것에 비하여 다소 증가되었으나 기타 세포질소기관의 미세구조적 변화는 관찰할 수 없었다. 2. 방사선 조사후 2일군이 경우, 미세사와 용해소체가 6시간군의 것에 비하여 더 많이 관찰되었다. 3. 방사선 조사후 6일군의 경우, 벽세포는 세포내세관과 미세융모가 미약하였으며 관소포구조의 막성구조가 파괴되고 세포질이 부분용해된 변성세포가 자주 관찰되었다. 이상의 결과로 보아 머리부분이 과도한 방사선에 노출되면 위점막의 벽세포는 초기에는 별다른 미세구조적 변화가 없으나 6일 정도가 지나면 분비기능에 관계된 미세구조들이 큰 손상을 받게 되므로 분비기능이 매우 약화된다고 생각된다. This experiment was performed to study the morphological responses of the gastric parietal cells of the head-irradiated rats. Male rats were divided into normal and experimental groups. The head region of the rat, under sodium thiopental anesthesia. was exposed to 3,000rads or 6,000rads of X-ray radiation in a single dose, respectively. The source was a Mitsubishi Linear Accelerator ML-4MV. The target to skin distance was 80cm, and the dose rate was 200rads/min. The rats of experimental groups were sacrificed on the 6 hours, 2 days and 6 days after X-ray irradiation. Pieces of the tissue taken from the body of the stomach were fixed in 2.5% glutaraldehyde-1.5% paraformaldehyde(0.1M Millonig's phosphate buffer, pH 7.3), and in 1% osmium tetroxide(0.1M Milloning's phosphate buffer, pH 7.3), and embedded in araldite mixture. The ultrathin sections stained with uranyl acetate and lead citrate were observed with JEM 100CX-II electron microscope. The results were as follow: 1. The morphological changes of the parietal cells were not pronounced, six hours after head irradiation. But the parietal cells protruding into the lumen of the gastric gland were infrequently observed and amounts of the microfilaments and lysosomes were slightly increased as compared with those of the control gorup. 2. Two days following irradiation, bundles of the microfilaments and the lysosome in the parietal cells were more frequently observed than those observed in the six hours group. 3. Dramatic decrease of intracellular canaliculi and microvilli of the parietal cells were observed on the 6th day, and destruction of tubulovesicular structures and partial cytolysis or necrosis were observed frequently. Above results suggest that high dose of head irradiation induces indirect hazardous effects on the gastric parietal cells of the rat, and the irradiated animals might suffered from weak acid secretion of the parietal cell, since the large number of the parietal cells are degenerated within a few days following irradiation.

      • 가토에서 일측 요관 부분 및 완전폐색시 신장과 요관의 조직학적 변화

        This study was designed to clarify histologic changes in the experimental rabbit kidney and ureter after unilateral partial or complete ureteral obstruction. A total of 20 adult white rabbits were divided into 4 subgroups in the partial obstruction followed by 2 weeks, the partial obstruction followed by 4 weeks, the complete obstruction followed by 2 weeks, and the complete obstruction followed by 4 weeks. The normal control group was consisted of 5 adult white rabbits. The kidneys and ureters for light microscopy were fixed in 10% neutral formalin, embedded in paraffin and stained with hematoxylin and eosin. Abnormal histologic fingings showed in ipsilateral kidney and ureter of all subgroups(such as dilatation of uriniferous tubule, focal necrosis and desquamation of epithelium, interstitial fibrosis, glomerular congestion, widening of Bowman's space, dilatation of ureter, epithelial cell atrophy or loss, interstitial fibrosis and interstitial inflammation). These findings were most severe in the group of the complete-obstructed ureter for 4 weeks. No significant changes showed in contralateral ureter of all subgroups. The degree of obstruction was severe and period of obstruction was long, the histological changes in ipsilateral side were severe. Despite of changes in ipsilateral side no abnormal findings showed in contralateral side. We suggest that long term experimental investigation of histologic changes in ipsilateral side and compensatory changes in contralateral side have to be studied.

        우리나라 파프리카 수출단지 및 선과장의 병해충 조사

        The disease and insect were surveyed locally in greenhouse, fruit packing house and store house of 51 farms in 13 towns having purpose of paprika exportation. By analysis, various disease and insect were not only founded locally but more ones detected in farms having old facilities and no natural enemy. We found 15 pathogens such as Fusarium spp., Alternaria solani, Leveilluila taurica, PepMV (Pepino mosaic virus) and TMV (Tobacco mosaic virus) in greenhouse, Fusarium spp. in fruit packing house and Penicillium spp. in store house. We found 15 insects in greenhouse such as Bemisia tabaci, rialeurodes vaporariorum and Myzus persicae in greenhouse, Hylobitelus haroldi in fruit packing house. However, the problem quarantine disease and insect for importation and exportation were not detected in inspection time.

      • Preparation of hydroxyapatite/poly(vinyl alcohol) composite fibers by wet spinning and their characterization

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>To prepare hydroxyapatite (HA)/poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) composite fibers with high processibility applicable to various biomedical fields, HA/PVA composite powders were synthesized through a coprecipitation method and then mixed with pure PVA in dimethyl sulfoxide at 90°C for 2 h to prepare wet‐spinning dopes. HA/PVA solutions with HA contents of 0, 1, 3, 5, 10, and 15 wt % were analyzed with a rheometer to elucidate the effect of HA particles on the shear viscosities of the spinning dopes. The spinning dopes with pure PVA and an HA/PVA concentration of 12 wt % showed non‐Newtonian flow behaviors, and as the HA content increased from 1 to 15 wt %, the shear viscosities increased simultaneously because of the complex formation between PVA chains, citric acid, and HA particles acting as crosslinkers. The increased viscosities of the spinning dopes diminished the breakage of PVA fibers and enhanced the spinnability. Through the addition of citric acid interacting with both PVA and HA particles, the aggregation of HA particles was suppressed, and it was possible to prepare HA/PVA composite fibers with smooth surfaces. An adequate amount of HA in the PVA fibers improved the thermal and mechanical properties of the fibers because uniformly dispersed HA particles interacting with PVA chains through hydrogen bonding in the PVA matrix complemented the structural defects. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.       • 고유진동수 조절이 가능한 액체댐퍼 특성연구

        In this paper, we evaluate the properties after developing the unique frequency-controlled multi-cell liquid damper. The overall shape of the proposed damper is same with the Liquid Column Vibration Absorber (LCVA). However, in this time, we divided the vertical column of LCVA in a separate cell and the cell can be closed each so that we can change the natural frequency of the damper with the way we control the area of the vertical column. In this way, we could notice the properties of the natural frequencies of the damper through the shaking table tests with the adjusted closed cell number. The usability of the dampers was evaluated after comparing to the natural frequencies of shaking table experiments and the theoretical calculated one.

      • Proteomic analysis of changes in protein expression in serum from animals exposed to paraquat

        <P>Paraquat (PQ) poisoning remains a major public health concern in many countries. Extensive research has focused on finding early diagnostic biomarkers of acute PQ poisoning. In order to investigate the characterization of diagnostic biomarkers in PQ poisoning, we utilized proteomic analysis using serum from rats exposed to PQ, and we identified 8 differentially expressed proteins from over 500 protein spots. The expression of apolipoprotein E (ApoE), preprohaptoglobin (Pphg), a precursor of haptoglobin (Hp), and complement component 3 (C3) proteins was greatly induced by PQ exposure while the expression of fibrinogen γ-chain (FGG) and Ac-158 was dramatically reduced. To further investigate the possibility of ApoE, Pphg and FGG as useful diagnostic biomarkers of PQ poisoning, western blot and qRT-PCR analyses were conducted using cell lines as well as rat and human sera. The expression levels of ApoE, Hp and FGG were significantly altered in the presence of PQ in both rat and human serum suggesting that these proteins may be appropriate candidate molecular biomarkers for the early diagnosis of acute PQ intoxication.</P>

        관형지지물 풍력계수 특성에 관한 실험적 연구

        Wind force coefficient of tubular steel pole shows several characteristics when shape of section and angle of wind direction are changed. In this study, wind force characteristics of tubular steel pole are evaluated using different wind speed and angle of wind direction in wind tunnel test. Three types of tubular steel pole was selected for the experiment which were actually used at construction. For each type of model, entire model and cross-section model was made to experiment. The experiment on cross-section model is changing angle of wind direction from zero degrees to thirty degrees and changing of wind speed from 1 m/s to 18 m/s, and entire model is changing angle of wind direction from zero degrees to ninety degrees. From the result, wind force coefficient of tubular steel pole can be used as preliminary data to decide tubular support"s wind load.
