Tetrodotoxin is a neurotoxin produced by about 90 species of puffer fish and causes paralysis of central nervous system and peripheral nerves by blocking the movement of all monovalent cation. Ingestion of tetrodotoxin produces clinical manifestations such as paresthesias(within 10-45 min), vomiting, lightheadedness, salivation, muscle twitching, dysphagia, difficulty in speaking, convulsion and death that expressed by cardiopulmonary arrest with loss of brain stem reflex sometimes. Tetrodotoxin prevents or delays ischemia induced neuronal death by way of following 3 mechanisms. Firstly, it reduces the energy demand of the brain tissues. Secondly, it delays or even prevents anoxic depolarization. Finally, it deminishes ischemia induced cell swelling and cerebral edema. We report a case of puffer fish poisoning which presented with cardiopulmonary arrest and loss of brain stem reflex, but completely recovered by aggressive cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

A study on the application of ultrasonic vibration for the turbulence enhancement in a horizontal flow field was carried out by laying emphasis of the Reynolds numberand the ultrasonic incidence angle on the laminar flow field. A large water tank was made of the transparent acrylic plates and city water of 25℃ was used as working fluid. Angles of the ultrasonic oscillator such as 30°, 45° , 60° , 90° , 120° , 135° and 150° were selected and experiments for the above were made. Data, such as time mean velocity vector and time mean turbulent intensity which was obtained by PIV measurement, were examined, compared and discussed at Reynolds No. 2,000 and 4,000 to know the degree of turbulence enhancement in each case.

This paper propose a new path planning method for mobile robots. The creation method of the course approaches with the method of the frame line graph base where the calculation time becomes disturbance. The graph composition where is not the static course plan method of existing, a course search and repeats continuously changes a graph and proposes the course the dynamic routing plan method. The method which is proposed is composed of a course creation phase and a course improvement phase, each phase includes a graph composition and a course search process.

Background : In recent years, gonorrhea has been panedemic and remains one of the most commom STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Methods: For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the VD Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results: In 1996, 139 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 53(39.0%) were PPNG. Conclusion: Our results suggests that after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, the prevalence of PPNG in Seoul is gradually declining.

The purpose of this study is to compare the bird crossing of roads by type (Expressway 1, railroad-provincial road and Highway 4) and the crossing of roads according to the size of birds. The greatest number of avian species and individuals crossing road per 10 minutes were found on railroad-provincial road ($8.96{\pm}1.92$ and $29.33{\pm}11.94$, respectively), while the lowest number of avian species and individuals were found on Expressway 1 ($2.96{\pm}1.04$ and $6.13{\pm}2.89$, respectively), which has the widest width. In addition, the number of small-sized bird (<20 cm) crossing the Expressway 1, railroad-provincial road, and Highway 4 was lower than that of the medium-sized bird (${\geq}20cm$). Current wildlife crossing structures have been focused on mammals, amphibians and reptiles, but future structures should also consider birds.
유한요소해석을 이용한 유도상 아스팔트 궤도의 피로균열 설계수명 예측

본 연구에서는 유도상 아스팔트 궤도 노반층의 손상도에 입각한 설계수명 산정을 위해 손상기준을 아스팔트 노반의 피로파괴로 국한하였다. 아스팔트 노반을 포함한 궤도에 대해 목표설계수명을 50년으로 설정하고 궤도구조형식별, 궤도구조구성 조건별로 유한요소해석 프로그램인 ABAQUS를 이용한 구조해석을 실시하였다. 해석결과와 손상도이론을 이용하여 예상 설계수명의 만족여부를 판정하였다. 구조해석으로부터 산정된 아스팔트 노반층 하면 인장변형률의 크기와 피로파괴 기준식을 이용하여 아스팔트 노반의 설계수명을 예측하였으며, 강화노반 탄성계수(ESB)가 유도상 아스팔트 궤도의 설계수명에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 년간통과톤수가 클 경우에는 목표 설계수명을 확보하기 위해 일정 값 이상의 강화노반 두께와 강화노반 탄성계수의 확보가 반드시 필요한 것으로 검토되었다. In order to calculate design life of ballasted asphalt trackbed, damage is limited to fatigue crack only. A structural analysis was performed using ABAQUS program. In this study, primary design parameters such as types of track sections, wheel load size, velocity, MGT, elastic modulus and thickness of each layers are defined. Full 3D Finite element analyses were performed using ABAQUS program in order to calculate tensile strains under asphalt layer with different values of design parameters defined. The target design life is checked by using damage theory and computed results. It was verified that modulus of subbase is the most critical onto the design life of the ballasted asphalt trackbed. It was concluded that it is required to keep minimum thickness and minimum modulus of reinforced roadbed should be used in case of large amount of traffic(MGT)

국내 고속철도 현장에서 사용하고 있는 흙 구조물 품질관리기준은 주로 반복평판재하시험(RPBT)으로 구한 변형률계수(Ev2)에 기초한다. 최근 독일 및 중국 등 외국에서는 반복평판재하시험 방법보다 빠르게 지반의 강성을 측정할 수 있는 다양한 장비들이 개발되어 현장에 사용되고 있다. 대표적인 시험장비로는 소형충격재하시험기(LFWD) 및 동평판재하시험기(LWDT)를 들 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 현재 진행 되고 있는 국내 호남고속철도 시공현장 3개 공구에서 측정한 반복평판재하시험(RPBT)의 변형률계수(Ev2)와 소형충격재하시험기(LFWD) 및 평판재하시험기(LWDT)로 구한 변형계수(ELFWD, Evd)의 상관성을 분석하여 대체가능성을 탐색하였다. RPBT by measuring Ev2 has been used mostly in construction field of high-speed railway in Korea in order to verify degree of compaction of the trackbed foundation materials. Recently LFWD and LWDT have been used widely in foreign countries including Germany and China because those methods are easy to measure stiffness of the track foundation comparing to RPBT. In this study, RPBT, LFWD and LWDT are adapted to measure stiffness of the track foundation in Honam high-speed rail construction field. The measured values of Ev2, ELFWD and Evd are compared each other to get correlation among them so that a possible way of adapting LWDT is proposed based on the reliability from the correlation analysis.
