Development of HPLC assay method of fusidate sodium tablets
Lee, GaJin,Choi, Min,Truong, Quoc-Ky,Mai, Xuan-Lan,Kang, Jong-Seong,Woo, Mi Hee,Na, Dong-Hee,Chun, In-Koo,Kim, Kyeong Ho The Korean Society of Analytical Science 2017 분석과학 Vol.30 No.3
The Korean Pharmacopoeia (KP XI), British Pharmacopoeia (BP 2013) and Japanese Pharmacopoeia contain monographs for the quality control of raw fusidate sodium and its formulations using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). However, the assay method for the determination of fusidate sodium in commercial tablets is titration which is less specific than HPLC. In this study, we present an alternative HPLC method for quantitation of fusidate sodium in tablets. Method validation was performed to determine linearity, precision, accuracy, system suitability, and robustness. The linearity of calibration curves in the desired concentration range was high ($r^2=0.9999$), while the RSDs for intra- and inter-day precision were 0.25-0.37 % and 0.11-0.60 %, respectively. Accuracies ranged from 99.46-100.85 %. Since the system suitability, intermediate-precision and robustness of the assay were satisfactory, this method will be a valuable addition to the Korean Pharmacopoeia (KP XI).

This study was conducted to further purify and characterize a polysaccharide fraction from whole parts of Duchesnea indica (Andr.) Focke, which was previously reported to show an antitumor activity by us. Mild acid-treatment of the fraction by 5% acetic acid yielded three subfractions (Fr. A, B and c) on a Sephadex G-25. Fr A was composed of uronic acid, hexose, pentose and phenolic substance, Fr. C mainly phenolic substance, and Fr. B contained hexose. All three fraction exhibited colony stimulating factor activity.

Background: Korean medicine (KM), including acupuncture, has been used to treat many patients with ankle sprains in Korea. The purpose of this prospective observational study is to determine how ankle sprains are treated using KM practice and to assess the outcomes of these treatments. Methods: We will perform a prospective observational study to include around 200 participants from KM clinics with a chief complaint of ankle sprain or ankle instability. All participants will receive individualized KM treatments which may include acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, moxibustion, cupping therapy, and herbal medicine. The participants will be assessed on the information related to both ankle discomfort using a visual analogue scale and on the participant's overall condition including quality of life. Discussion: Through this study, we would be able to collect specific and detailed data for various treatments from actual practice, such as the characteristics of the KM treatment system for treating ankle sprains or the method of acupuncture point selection. We also expect that the results of this study based on daily clinical practice will allow other researchers to create research questions that are beneficial from a clinical, societal, and patient's perspective. Clinical research registration: This study has been registered at the Clinical Research Information Service (CRiS) of Korea: KCT0004016.
Ascorbic acid가 생쥐 복강내 거식세포의 탐식작용과 임파구의 활성에 미치는 영향

Ascorbic acid is the most important water soluble antioxidant as well as a cofactor in mangy hydroxylating reactions. There is a lot of evidence that immune system is sensitive to the level of ascorbic acid, and in our previous report it increased the antibody production of the mouse in vivo In this study we examined the effects of ascorbic acid on the phagocytosis and on the activities of the lymphocytes in mouse system. Murine peritoneal macrophages elicited with caseinate anc treated with ascorbic acid in vivo, showed increased phagocytic activity on the opsonized SRBC bui showed decreased detection of hydrogen peroxide(H202). When treated with ascorbic acid in vitro peritoneal macrophages showed no effect on phagocytosis. To examine the indirect effects of ascorbic acid on phagocytosis via lymphocytes, phorbol myristate acetate(PMA) -treated thymocy tes or T cells were incubated with ascorbic acid and macrophage activating capacity was assessed Culture supernatants of ascorbic acid-treated thymocytes and T cells enhanced the phagocytic activity of macrophages at the concentration of lug/ml. The proliferation of the thymocytes anc the blast formation of B cells were correlated with the level of ascorbic acid. Furthermore, ascorbic acid increased antibody production of splenocytes or B cells in vitro, confirming that it affect; immune system via lymphocytes. With the present results, we can explain in part the broad effect, of ascorbic acid on immune system by its influence on lymphocytes.

Objectives : Practice-Based Research Networks (PBRNs), collaborations of practitioners and academic researchers, have provided platforms for conducting research to address clinical questions generated from daily routine care. This review aimed to critically analyse articles from PBRNs that are related to complementary and integrative medicine (CIM) and to suggest future directions for a PBRN which is appropriate for Korean Medicine (KM). Methods : PubMed, PBRN registries in Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and relevant PBRN websites were searched up to November 2019 for research articles from PBRNs that focused on CIM regardless of study design. Methodological quality of the included studies was assessed. The included studies were read in full, classified and summarised according to their topics. Results : A total of 51 articles published from 1998 through 2020 were included in this review. They were categorised into three principal themes based on research questions and findings: health services research (embracing researches examining characteristics of patients and CIM practitioners/practices, and communication between patients and practitioners); effectiveness and safety of CIM practices/interventions; and feasibility studies of instruments and interventions in PBRN settings. The study designs varied including surveys (n=30), prospective observational studies (n=6), 2ndary analyses of existing studies (n=7), protocols (n=7), retrospective chart review (n=1) and qualitative study (n=1). Quality of the included studies greatly varied. Conclusions : PBRNs can serve as a feasible platform for conducting practice-relevant research on KM and CIM. Considering growing demands on evidence-base for routine practice of KM amid various stakeholders, a PBRN in KM community and further researches nested within PBRN designs are warranted.
