Emissions from aircraft have impacts on the air pollution of airport and the surrounding area. There are methods of emissions calculated as Tier 1, Tier2, Tier 3A and Tier 3B. Thus, this study investigated emissions from aircraft at the Gimhae International Airport using EDMS(Emissions & Dispersion Modeling System) program. Results of estimation from aviation emissions, Tier 3B considering all parts which can occur at the airport has the largest amount emissions. In order to understand the relation between aviation emissions and distribution of ozone concentration over airport area, numerical evaluation were carried out. Although the difference of surface ozone distribution between numerical assessment with and without aviation emissions was little, effects of air pollution at airport area from aviation emissions of NOx and VOCs.

Expression of heat shock proteins (HSPs) is frequently up-regulated in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), which evolves from dysplastic nodule (DN) and early HCC to advanced HCC. However, little is known about the differential expression of HSPs in multistep hepatocarcinogenesis. It was the purpose of this study to monitor the expression of HSPs in multistep hepatocarcinogenesis and to evaluate their prognostic significance in hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related HCC.

Background/Aims: Non-selective beta blockers (NSBBs) are currently the only accepted regimen for preventing portal hypertension (PHT)-related complications. However, the effect of NSBBs is insufficient in many cases. Bacterial translocation (BT) is one of the aggravating factors of PHT in cirrhosis; therefore, selective intestinal decontamination by rifaximin is a possible therapeutic option for improving PHT. We investigated whether the addition of rifaximin to pro-pranolol therapy can improve hepatic venous pressure gradi-ent (HVPG) response. Methods: Sixty-four cirrhosis patients were randomly assigned to propranolol monotherapy (n=48) versus rifaximin and propranolol combination therapy (n=16). Baseline and post-treatment HVPG values, BT-related mark-ers (lipopolysaccharide [LPS], LPS-binding protein [LBP], interleukin-6 [IL-6], and tumor necrosis factor α [TNF-α]), serological data, and adverse event data were collected. HVPG response rate was the primary endpoint. Results: Combination therapy was associated with better HVPG re-sponse rates than monotherapy (56.2% vs 87.5%, p=0.034). In combination therapy, posttreatment BT-related markers were significantly decreased (LPS, p=0.005; LBP, p=0.005; IL-6, p=0.005; TNF-α, p=0.047). Conclusions: Rifaximin combination therapy showed an additive effect in improving PHT compared to propranolol monotherapy. These pilot data suggest that the addition of rifaximin to NSBBs could be a good therapeutic option for overcoming the limited effective-ness of NSBBs. (Gut Liver 2017;11:702-710)
Comparative Study of Communication Restrictions on Crime of TERRORISM
Lim Yoo seok J-INSTITUTE 2017 International Journal of Terrorism & National Secu Vol.2 No.2
In recent years, the world has been emphasizing the role of intelligence agencies in the field of telecommuni-cations aimed at strengthening the response to acts that threaten national security, such as the threat of inter-national terrorism. In particular, crimes against national security such as espionage or terrorism are committed by the criminals who have been trained outside domestic territory, observing their own strict security regulations. For these rea-sons, investigations on communications conducted by criminals who attempt and direct is essential to investiga-tion crime against national security. Considering legislations on telecommunication restrictions in some advanced countries, the United Kingdoms has enacted the Investigatory Powers Act(IPA 2016) to counter threats to national security and serious crimes, allowing investigative agencies, security and intelligence agencies to monitor a large scale of surveillance. The United States has implemented the CALEA, the Patriot Act, the FISA, and the ECPA, which are legally enforced by law. It is necessary to revise the important part of the domestic communication confidentiality protection law against the crimes which threatens the national security by referring to the matters concerning the communica-tion restriction law of major countries. In the context of IoT communication, individuals, society, and the nation are linked to one fate community through the transmission and reception of packet data over the Internet. Also, telecommunications infrastruc-tures are subject to territorial domination as tangible goods, it is necessary to understand national security as “the safekeeping of the nation as a whole”.
Graphene Oxide Nanosheet Wrapped White-Emissive Conjugated Polymer Nanoparticles

We have demonstrated the preparation of white-emissive conjugated polymer nanoparticles wrapped with graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets. Highly stable, GO-wrapped, poly(9,9-di-n-octylfluorenyl-2,7-diyl) nanoparticles (GO-PFO NPs) with diameters in the range 30–150 nm were successfully obtained by utilizing the GO nanosheets as an interface stabilizer in an emulsification process. The synthesized GO-PFO NPs exhibited unique white-emitting photoluminescence with a characteristic green-emissive broad band above 500 nm, which was distinct from the photoluminescent behavior of PFO NPs without GO. This green emission was deduced to originate from the presence of the GO nanosheet shell surrounding the PFO NPs, rather than from luminescence of GO itself or formation of keto defects in the PFO chain. PL decay analysis showed that the GO-wrapped PFO NPs had a longer luminescence lifetime in comparison to PFO NPs without GO, and highly efficient energy transfer to lower energy state induced by the GO occurred.

Graphic Abstract

ACS Electronic Supporting Info

Local parameter for armor weight estimation
Yoo, Dong-Hoon,Yoon, Jong-Joo,Yoo, Jeseon,Lim, Hak-Soo,Choi, Jin-Yong BioOne (Coastal Education and Research Foundation) 2013 JOURNAL OF COASTAL RESEARCH Vol.65 No.-

A new surf parameter called the 'wave action slope' is introduced to represent local wave conditions in shallow waters by employing local values of wave length or wave celerity and wave height. The use of wave theory on a flat bed of depth at the front of the breakwater might be considered far superior to the simple adoption of the deep water wave length for characterizing surfing waves at a shoaling depth. The wave action slope is formed by the product of the breakwater slope and the ratio of the celerity to the wave height. The optimum or minimum weight of the armor unit is related to the wave action slopes, which are employed for developing new empirical equations. Analyzing the laboratory data of van der Meer revealed that the armor weights are closely related to the wave action slope. By using the new surf parameter given with local parameter values, we suggest a simple but accurate equation to estimate the breakwater armor weight. Several empirical equations are applied to cases of failure experienced along the eastern coast of Korea. The values given by the Hudson equation are satisfactory for 26 of the 57 total failure cases. The number of satisfactory cases decreases by using recent empirical equations; of the 57 failure cases, the number of satisfactory cases yielded is 17 for the van der Meer/de Jong equation and 13 for the equation of the present study considering local parameters. The reduced number of satisfactory cases may indicate improvement of the new empirical equations over the Hudson equation.
