We evaluated the cardioprotective effect of Aloe vera gel isoprenaline (ISO)-administered myocardial infarction in rats. ISO administration increased lipid peroxidation and oxidative stress in rats, which were ameliorated by A. vera gel supplementation. Our study also revealed that creatine kinase-MB (CK-MB) activities were increased in ISO-administered rats, while the activities of cellular antioxidants, such as superoxide dismutase and catalase, and glutathione concentration were decreased. A. vera gel lowered CK-MB enzyme activities and the glutathione concentration in ISO-administered rats, and increased antioxidant activities. Histopathological examination also revealed increases in thickness of the left ventricle myocardium, increases in mononuclear cell infiltrations, increased degeneration of focal areas of the endocardium, and increased fibrous tissue deposition in the heart of ISO-administered rats; whereas, A. vera prevented infiltration of inflammatory cells and reduced left ventricular fibrosis. In conclusion, we show that A. vera supplementation protects against development of cardiac inflammation, fibrosis, and oxidative stress in ISO-administered rats.

Over the past few decades, CMOS current comparators have been used in a wide range of applications, including analogue circuits, MVL (multiple-valued logic) circuits, and various electronic products. A current comparator is generally used in an ADC (analog-to-digital) converter of sensors and similar devices, and several techniques and approaches have been implemented to design the current comparator to improve performance. To this end, this paper presents a bibliographical survey of recently-published research on different current comparator topologies for low-power and high-speed applications. Moreover, several aspects of the CMOS current comparator are discussed regarding the design implementation, parameters, and performance comparison in terms of the power dissipation and operational speed. This review will serve as a comparative study and reference for researchers working on CMOS current comparators in low-power and high-speed applications.
High Performance CMOS Charge Pumps for Phase-locked Loop

Phase-locked-loops (PLL) have been employed in high-speed data transmission systems like wireless transceivers, disk read/write channels and high-speed interfaces. The majority of the researchers use a charge pump (CP) to obtain high performance from PLLs. This paper presents a review of various CMOS CP schemes that have been implemented for PLLs and the relationship between the CP parameters with PLL performance. The CP architecture is evaluated by its current matching, charge sharing, voltage output range, linearity and power consumption characteristics. This review shows that the CP has significant impact on the quality performance of CP PLLs.

In the coming pervasive society, Radio Frequency Identification(RFID) Tags will be affixed within every product and object including human. This technology is anticipated to be a major technology which will be utilized by several pervasive services where these tags will be used to identify various objects. However, the use of RFID tags may create new threats to the security and privacy of individuals holding RFID tags. Therefore, widespread deployment of RFID systems preserving users’ privacy and data integrity is a major security challenge of the coming year. That is why research related to privacy preserving authentication is growing. And the envision is that: RFID systems can intermingle into human lives if they can offer practical, low cost and secured mechanisms for tag authentication which has been in the midst of researcher’s interest for almost a decade. One extension of RFID authentication is RFID tag searching. Any RFID authentication protocol which provides adequate security and privacy can be used for RFID tag searching. However, when the number of tags within a system will increase, the overall data collection cost will also increase. Therefore, more efficient tag searching method is needed. RFID search protocol can play a major role for tag searching which has not been given much attention so far. But we firmly believe that in near future tag searching will be a significant issue. In this paper we propose a lightweight and serverless RFID tag searching protocol. This protocol can search a particular tag efficiently without server’s intervention. Furthermore they are secured against major security threats.

Traditional medicinal practitioners or Kavirajes use a variety of medicinal plants for treatment of thrombus ailments-cardiovascular problems. In this study, thrombolytic activity of 36 extracts of different solvents of eight Bangladeshi medicinal plants traditionally used in cardiovascular problems were evaluated to justify their use in folklore medicinal practitice. Extraction was conceded using methanol. Five grams of the concentrated methanol extract of each crude extract were then fractionated to provide n-hexane and carbon tetrachloride fractions. Phytochemically important groups like reducing sugars, tannins, saponins, steroids, gums, flavonoids and alkaloids were tested using standard chromogenic reagents. In vitro thrombolytic potential of extracts was assayed for analyzing the clot lyses by adding the extracts to the pre-clotted blood. The results were compared with the results obtained from streptokinase as standard and water as a negative control. Thrombolytic effect of the extracts ranged from 0.73 ± 2.44 % to 45.81 ± 0.34 % clot lysis whereas the standard streptokinase showed 65.13 ± 0.96 % and the negative control water showed 2.50 ± 0.67 % clot lysis. The highest thrombolytic effect was shown by the crude extract of Melastoma malabathricum leaves and the lowest by the CCl4 fractionate of Litsea glutinosa leaves. Most of the results were found relevant to the traditional use of the plants. Plants traditionally used in thrombus ailments may be an interesting source for further drug development.

This paper describes the effect of the ratio of two starting materials, eggshell (ES, source of Ca) and rice husk (RH, sourceof silica) on the direct synthesis of wollastonite via a facile two-step solid state method, i.e. ball milling of the raw materialsfollowed by calcination of the mixture at 1,000 oC. The investigation was focused on optimizing the ratio of ES and RH tomaximize the formation of wollastonite. Keeping the wt.% of RH constant, four different ratios of RH and ES (10:2.6, 10:3.0,10:3.3 and 10:3.7) were used and the observed result revealed that the initial ratio of RH and ES plays a key role in controllingthe formation of wollastonite as the major phase which was confirmed by x-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier TransformInfrared (FT-IR) techniques. The bioactive property of this wollastonite was studied in simulated body fluid at 37 oC while thetime dependent growth of hydroxyapatite (HA) on the surface of wollastonite was examined by SEM and XRD.
