우리나라 화장품의 살균·보존제 성분은 포지티브 리스트로 관리되고 있다. 포지티브 리스트는 적절한 정량분석법이 필요하지만 아직 분석법 개발이 미비한 상황이다. 본 실험에서는 가스크로마토그래피와 불꽃이 온화검출기(GC/FID)를 이용하여 살균·보존제 성분 14종을 동시분석 하는 방법을 개발하였다. 분석법의 validation 결과 특이성을 확인하였고, 검량선의 직선성은 dehydroacetic acid (0.9891)를 제외한 14종에서 상관계수가 0.9997 이상으로 양호하였다. 검출한계(LOD)와 검량한계(LOQ)는 각각 0.0001 mg/mL ∼ 0.0039 mg/mL와 0.0003 mg/mL ∼ 0.0118 mg/mL로 나타났으나, dehydroacetic acid는 각각 0.0204 mg/mL, 0.0617 mg/mL로 나타났다. 반복성은 1.0% 이하로 나왔으나 dehydroacetic acid는 7.1%로 나왔다. 회수률은 96.9% ∼ 109.2% 나타났다. 본 실험방법으로 유통 중인 화장품 50건을 검사한 결과 화장품에 주로 사용되는 살균·보존제는 chlorophene, phenoxyethanol, benzyl alcohol, parabens 이고, 모두 배합한도 이내로 검출되었다. Preservatives of cosmetics is managed by positive list in Korea. Positive list requires a proper quantitative analysis method, but the analysis method is still insufficient. In this study, gas chromatography with flame ionization detector was used to simultaneously analyze 14 preservatives in cosmetics. As a result of method validation, the specificity was confirmed by the calibration curves of 14 preservatives showing good linearity correlation coefficient of above 0.9997 except dehydroacetic acid (0.9891). The limits of detection (LOD) and quantification (LOQ) of 14 preservatives were 0.0001 mg/mL ~ 0.0039 mg/mL and 0.0003 mg/mL ~ 0.0118 mg/mL, respectively, but they were 0.0204 mg/mL, 0.0617 mg/mL for dehydroacetic acid, respectively. The precision (Repeatability) of the values was less than 1.0%, but 7.1% for dehydroacetic acid. The Accuracy (% recovery) of 14 preservatives in cosmetics showed 96.9% ~ 109.2%. Finally, this method was applied to 50 cosmetics available in market. Results showed that the commonly used preservatives were chlorophene, phenoxyethanol, benzyl alcohol and parabens. However, the amount of the detected preservatives was within maximum allowed limits established by KFDA.

Background: The current conventional drug susceptibility test (DST) for <i>Mycobacterium tuberculosis</i> (Mtb) takes several weeks of incubation to obtain results. As a rapid method, molecular DST requires only a few days to get the results but does not fully cover the phenotypic resistance. A new rapid method based on the ability of viable Mtb bacilli to hydrolyze fluorescein diacetate to free fluorescein with detection of fluorescent mycobacteria by flow cytometric analysis, was recently developed.Methods: To evaluate this cytometric method, we tested 39 clinical isolates which were susceptible or resistant to isoniazid (INH) or rifampin (RIF), or ethambutol (EMB) by phenotypic or molecular DST methods and compared the results.Results: The susceptibility was determined by measuring the viability rate of Mtb and all the isolates which were tested with INH, RIF, and EMB showed susceptibility results concordant with those by the phenotypic solid and liquid media methods. The isolates having no mutations in the molecular DST but resistance in the conventional phenotypic DST were also resistant in this cytometric method. These results suggest that the flow cytometric DST method is faster than conventional agar phenotypic DST and may complement the results of molecular DST.Conclusion: In conclusion, the cytometric method could provide quick and more accurate information that would help clinicians to choose more effective drugs.
WGS 반응용 Pt-Na/CeO<sub>2</sub>촉매의 Na 담지량에 따른 성능 평가

조촉매(Promotor)인 Na은 수성가스전이(Water Gas Shift, WGS) 반응 시 생성된 포름산염의 C-H결합을 쉽게 분해하는 역할을 한다. 본 연구에서는 Pt/CeO₂ 촉매의 성능 향상을 위해 Na의 담지량을 변화시켜 촉매적 활성을 비교하여 보았다. 제조된 담체는 침전법(Precipitation)을 사용하여 제조하였으며 500?C에서 6시간 소성하였다. Pt 담지량은 1wt%로 고정하였고 Na 담지량은 1 wt%~5 wt%로 변화를 주어 동시(공)-함침법(Co-incipient wetness method)으로 담지 시켰다. 반응 실험은 공간속도(Gas Hourly Space Velocity, GHSV) 45,385h^{-1}에서 수행하였다. WGS 반응 결과 3 wt%의 Na이 담지된 Pt/CeO₂ 촉매의 경우를 제외하고 나머지 Na이 담지된 촉매들은 비교적 높은 CO의 전환율을 나타내었다. 특히 2 wt%의 Na이 담지된 Pt/CeO₂ 촉매는 가장 높은 CO의 전환율을 나타내었다. 따라서 Na 담지량의 변화가 포름산염의 C-H결합 분해에 영향을 미친다는 것을 알 수 있다.

This paper describes an ontology-based intelligent CAD system for injection mold design, which has been developed based on a commercial CAD system called Unigraphics and an ontological framework for representing the implicit design knowledge as well as the explicit based on the extended function behavior-structure (FBS) engineering design model that includes the constraint. The system also provides various convenient solid modeling capabilities for mold design and the design process modeling capability that facilitates mold redesign process.

Background/Aims: Carcinoid tumor of the rectum is relatively uncommon lesion with malignant potential, representing 17-27% of gastrointestinal tract carcinoid. The selection of treatment in rectal carcinoid tumor is determined by the depth of invasion and the presence of metastasis. In this study, we evaluated the clinical utility of EUS in selecting the management of the rectal carcinoid tumor. Methods: Total 8 patients witd rectal carcinoid tumor diagnosed by means of colonoscopy and EUS from 1994 to 1999 were included in this study. None had specific symptoms of carcinoid syndrome. The treatment modality of all tumors were selected by EUS before resection. We examined histologic feature after resection of tumors in order to evaluate the effectiveness of EUS. Results: In total 8 patients, the image of tumors was oval to round. The internal echo was generally hypoechoic and homogenous. The margins were clearly visualized, and the contour was somewhat smooth. All tumor were resected completely. The overall accuracy of determining the depth of invasion using endoscopic ultrasonography was 87% (7 of 8 lesions). Conclusions; EUS is considered to be helpful in evaluating the malignant behavior of rectal carcinoid tumor. It is suggested that the criteria of the selection based on the EUS findings is available in the choice of treatment for rectal carcinoid tumor.

Background: Whether advanced age is associated with poor outcomes of elderly patients with acute kidney injury (AKI) requiring continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) is controversial. This study aimed to evaluate age effect and predictors for mortality in elderly AKI patients undergoing CRRT. Methods: Data of 480 elderly AKI patients who underwent CRRT were retrospectively analyzed. Subjects were stratified into two groups according to age: younger-old (age, 65-74 years; n = 205) and older-old (age, ≥75 years; n = 275). Predictors for 28-day and 90-day mortality and age effects were analyzed using multivariable Cox regression analysis and propensity score matching. Results: Urine output at the start of CRRT (adjusted hazard ratio [aHR], 0.99; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.99-1.00; p = 0.04), operation (aHR, 0.53; 95% CI, 0.30-0.93; p = 0.03), and use of an intra-aortic balloon pump (aHR, 3.60; 95% CI, 1.18-10.96; p = 0.02) were predictors for 28-day mortality. Ischemic heart disease (aHR, 1.74; 95% CI, 1.02-2.98; p = 0.04) and use of a ventilator (aHR, 0.56; 95% CI, 0.36-0.89; p = 0.01) were predictors for 90-day mortality. The older-old group did not exhibit a higher risk for 28- day or 90-day mortality than the younger-old group in multivariable or propensity score-matched models. Conclusion: Advanced age was not a risk factor for mortality among elderly AKI patients undergoing CRRT, suggesting that advanced age should not be considered for therapeutic decisions in critically ill elderly patients with AKI requiring CRRT.
Relationship between personality and emotional responses for children

Objective: The aim of this study is to identify between personality and psychological responses induced by emotional stimuli (happiness, sadness, anger, boredom and stress) for children. Background: Many researches have interested in that there is close correlation between personality and emotion. The relationship between them has to study in the view of the integrations, not respective property, because personality is deeply ingrained and relatively enduring patterns of thought, feeling and behavior and emotion can take advantage of individual differences in sensitivities to situational cues and predispositions to emotional states. In particular, in that childhood is an important period for formation of their personality and emotion expression and regulation, studies on the personality and emotion for children is necessary. Method: Prior to the experiment, we made parents of 94 children rate personalities of children on Korean Personality Inventory for Children (K-PIC). Results of 64 children without missing answers to all questions were analyzed. 64 children were exposeed to five emotional stimuli and were asked to report the classification and intensity of their experienced emotion. Results: Children were classified into two groups of the lower 25% and higher 25% scores in twenty sub-scales of K-PIC and psychological responses to five emotional stimuli between two groups were compared. Accuracy of emotion experienced by emotional stimuli showed a significant difference between two groups, the lower and higher scores in Delinquency. Also, there was a significant difference in the intensity of experienced emotions between two groups in Intellectual Screening and Psychosis. Conclusion: Our result has showed that Delinquency, Intellectual Screening and Psychosis influence the accuracy and intensity of emotional responses. Application: This study can offer a guideline to overcome methodological limitation of emotion studies for children and help researcher basically understand and recognize human emotion in HCI.

<P>The purpose of this study is (1) to determine the repeatability and reproducibility of thermal field-flow fractionation (ThFFF) in measuring the molecular weight of compounded natural rubber, and (2) to examine the correlation between the molecular weights obtained from ThFFF and the rheological data. 8 batches of compounded natural rubber were obtained from a thermo-mechanical mastication process, and were analyzed by ThFFF in a designed testing sequence. ThFFF analysis showed the compounded natural rubbers range in weight-average molecular weight (<I>M</I><SUB>w</SUB>) from 143 000 to 360 000. By taking into account both the short term variability (repeatability) as well as the long term variability (reproducibility) of the instrument, ThFFF was shown to be able to distinguish between samples differing by as little as 21 000 in <I>M</I><SUB>w</SUB> and 15 600 in number-average molecular weight, <I>M</I><SUB>n</SUB> (based on <I>cis</I>-polyisoprene calibration); and thus is a useful tool for the molecular weight analysis of natural rubber-related materials. It was also found that the rheological data (<I>G</I>′ and tan <I>δ</I>) measured on both the virgin and the compounded natural rubber correlated well with the molecular weights obtained from ThFFF when normalized.</P> <P>Graphic Abstract</P><P>Repeatability and reproducibility (and thus the capability) of thermal field-flow fractionation were determined for measuring molecular weights and distributions of natural rubber materials using a designed testing sequence. <IMG SRC='http://pubs.rsc.org/services/images/RSCpubs.ePlatform.Service.FreeContent.ImageService.svc/ImageService/image/GA?id=b513773j'> </P>
