This paper presents the directly obtained rotational viscosity values of E7, which includes pentylcyanobiphenol, heptylcyanobiphenol, 4-cyano-4'-n-octyloxy-1,1'-biphenyl, and 4-cyano-4"-n-pentyl-1,1',1"-terphenyl, at various tempe using molecular dynamics computer simulation. The director mean squared displacement was achieved from the squared displacement of the mean director using the concept of the mean director of various nematic liquid crystals. The calculated values were compared with the experiment results that predicted a good agreement. Additional points that must be considered for further study are also discussed.

Purpose: This study aims to identify the effects of self-esteem, relationship with children, Social Networking Services(SNS) use intensity on depression in middle-aged women with college-age children, and to provide basic data for the health promotion of middle-aged women. Method: A sample of 133 middle-aged people was purposely selected from parents of university students. Questionnaires used for this study were CES-D(The Center for Epidemiological Studies-Depression Scale), Self-esteem Scale, Relationship with Children Scale, SNS Intensity Scale. The collected data was analyzed by SPSS 21 with descriptive statistics, independent t-test, ANOVAs, Pearson correlation, multiple regression. Result: Self-esteem was correlated with relationship with children (r=0.385, p<0.01) and depression (r=-0.440, p<0.01). Relationship with children was correlated with depression(r=-0.402, p<0.01). As a result, a factor having the greatest influence on the subject's depression degree was self-esteem(β=-0.335), followed by relationship with children(β=-0.274). Conclusion: The result of this study suggested that depression in middle-aged women is closely related to self-esteem and relationship with children. This result can be used in Nursing by developing the theoretical basis for education program related to enhancing self-esteem and relationship with children.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate clinical practice stress, academic self-efficacy, and career identity among undergraduate students in nursing practicum. Method: This study was a descriptive correlational design using the survey method. The study included 267 undergraduate students attending to 5 college in Seoul. The data was gathered from August 2014 to October 2014 and the data were analyzed using IBM SPSS statistics version 22.0 Program with descriptive statistics, t-test, analysis of variance with Scheffe test, and Pearson’s correlation coefficient. Results: Situational characteristics of Clinical Practice Stress(CPP) was significantly different with regards to task difficulties and efficacy self-confidence of academic self-efficacy(ASE) (r= .179, p= .003; r= .166, p= .006). Statistically significant positive relationship was founded between Personal characteristics of CPP and self-confidence of ASE (r= .239, p< .01). External regulators of CPP was significantly different according to self-confidence and task difficulties (r= .175, p= .003; r= .132, p= .028). The self-confidence and efficacy for self-confidence of ASE were a significantly correlated with Career Identity; The Career identity also was a significantly correlated with all sub-categories of CSS scale(r= -0.208, p< 0.01; r= -0.369, p< 0.01; r= -0.153, p< .011) Conclusion: This study showed positive statistical relationships associated with clinical practice stress, academic self-efficacy, and career identity as a preliminary evidence-based study for guiding education in nursing curriculum. Further research should be need for students’ future as a professional nurse.

The modification of perfluorinated proton exchange membranes (e.g. Nafion) utilizing a layer by layer (LbL) electrostatic assembly of oppositely charged biophilic polymers such as poly-l-lysine as positive layer and dsDNA as a negative layer is developed to protect the interface between the catalyst layer and the membrane in a low temperature fuel cell. Various physicochemical measurements including water uptake, proton conductivity and surface tension were investigated for both the as-received Nafion and the biopolymeric LbL modified Nafion. The smaller water contact angle and the less swelling characteristics of the biopolymer modified Nafion membrane was founded compared to that of as-received Nafion. This clearly indicates that the more hydrophilic surface of biopolymeric layers on Nafion plays an important role in the enhanced dimensional stability. In addition, a potential hypothesis explaining the higher proton conductivity from the LbL biopolymeric film coated Nafion is suggested.

<P>We applied hydrophilic surface modification to P-25 TiO2 nanoparticles via thermal deposition of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), followed by annealing at 800 degrees C under vacuum conditions. This process yielded a thin layer consisting of hydrophilic organic functional groups (e.g., -C = O) as well as SiOx structures on the surface of TiO2. Compared to bare TiO2, the surface-modified TiO2 showed a higher adsorption capacity and photo-catalytic decomposition rate toward methylene blue. However, regarding the photo-catalytic decomposition of phenol, total mineralization of phenol was more complete when bare TiO2 was used as a photo-catalyst, whereas partial oxidation of phenol (i.e., into hydroquinone) was more dominant and total oxidation of phenol was supressed in the presence of surface-modified TiO2. Overall, one cannot simply say that hydrophilic modification of TiO2 leads to a higher affinity to H2O molecules with a higher yield of strongly-oxidizing agents (OH radicals) to increase the photo-catalytic activity in aqueous solutions. Our results imply that a subtle balance of the adsorption energy or rates of H2O, reactants, and reaction intermediates can be important factors for determining the photo-catalytic reaction rate. Different types of photo-catalyst surface modification can be beneficial or detrimental depending on the reaction. It is highlighted that one should be wary of evaluating the overall photocatalytic activities of dissimilar catalysts based on the results of only a couple of reactions. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. Crystal structure of constitutively monomeric E. coli Hsp33 mutant with chaperone activity

Heat shock protein 33 (Hsp33) from Escherichia coli is a redox-regulated molecular chaperone that protects cells from oxidative stress. To understand the molecular basis for the monomer-dimer switch in the functional regulation of E. coli Hsp33, we generated a constitutively monomeric Hsp33 by introducing the Q151E mutation in the dimeric interface and determined its crystal structure. The overall scaffold of the monomeric Hsp33<SUB>1-235</SUB> (Q151E) mutant is virtually the same as that of the dimeric form, except that there is no domain swapping. The measurement of chaperone activity to thermally denatured luciferase showed that the constitutively monomeric Hsp33 mutant still retains chaperone activity similar to that of wild-type Hsp33<SUB>1-235</SUB>, suggesting that a Hsp33 monomer is sufficient to interact with slowly unfolded substrate.

<P>Obesity-induced inflammation mediated by immune cells in adipose tissue appears to participate in the pathogenesis of insulin resistance. We show that natural killer (NK) cells in adipose tissue play an important role. High-fat diet (HFD) increases NK cell numbers and the production of proinflammatory cytokines, notably TNF alpha, in epididymal, but not subcutaneous, fat depots. When NK cells were depleted either with neutralizing antibodies or genetic ablation in E4bp4(+/-) mice, obesity-induced insulin resistance improved in parallel with decreases in both adipose tissue macrophage (ATM) numbers, and ATM and adipose tissue inflammation. Conversely, expansion of NK cells following IL-15 administration or reconstitution of NK cells into E4bp4(-/-) mice increased both ATM numbers and adipose tissue inflammation and exacerbated HFD-induced insulin resistance. These results indicate that adipose NK cells control ATMs as an upstream regulator potentially by producing proinflammatory mediators, including TNF alpha, and thereby contribute to the development of obesity-induced insulin resistance.</P>

We propose the methods of composing time factors between transitions, which are joinable and enable, in Time Petri net. Composition of time factors is divided into two types: sequence and join.

We fabricated methylorange(MO) doped PVA(Poly vinyl alcohol) thin film for various concentrations of methylorange and measured the photoinduced birefringence of MO/PVA thin film by means of the pump-probe technique. The experimental results were analyzed by adopting empirical stretched-exponential kinetics.
